Announcements and Upcoming Events
FIRST SUNDAY SUMMER BRUNCHES COMING SOON!
Immediately following the 10:30 service in Fisher Hall, everyone is
welcome! The Fellowship Committee will provide the entrees, PBJ
for the kids, beverages and table service. You just bring your family,
friends from worship, and a side dish or dessert. You do NOT need
to bring food to attend. First brunch will be June 4th.
CONCERT IN THE PARK SERIES!
Featuring Doug Chapman (Mr. Motown)-June 10,
The Lovehandles (Joan Nelson’s band)-July 21,
and our new worship ensemble-August 19. Each concert
will also feature a different, local food truck, so pull out your tailgating chairs, tell your
friends, and get ready for some entertaining neighborhood events! All concerts are from
6:00-8:00 p.m. in Friendship Park. The Vista Burger food truck will join us June 10!
Creative Writing Class for Teens and Adults-Mary Mertz
and Rev. Kati Collins will be leading a writing group which
will meet Mondays at 5:30pm at Bluestem Bistro during
June and July. Whether you have already started a writing
project or need some guidance in creativity, this will be a
time for getting tips and being accountable to write and complete a project: fictional
book, collection of poems, illustrated book, narrative non-fiction,
graduate thesis, journaling pilgrimage, etc. Please register through the church office or
on our website.
Now is the time to submit your photos for Father’s Day! You may either email them to
[email protected] or drop off photos in the church office.
Non-traditional Worship Events-A Worship Design
Team led by Rev. Kati Collins will be building over the
next several months to launch a new non-traditional
worship service on September 10th at 10:15a.m. on
Sunday mornings in our family life center. We will be
developing this new worship service to welcome people
of a variety of age groups who are spiritual and drawn
to Jesus, maybe went to church years ago, and yet feel
uncomfortable in a traditional church setting. Three
Worship Events will take place during the summer for
worshipers to explore liturgy, music, and creative
elements to get a feel for what contemporary worship
looks like for First Pres Manhattan. The first event will be a Revival Sing-Along on
Wednesday, June 7 at 6:30 p.m. Contact Pastor Kati for more information and follow
our Facebook Page for updates over the summer.
