Principal: Mrs. Marie Whelan Assistant Principal: Mr. Michael Pagacz Assistant Principal: Mrs. Lily Kucy
This month our children are busy creating special “Mothers’ Day Gifts” which our moms tuck away each year as a cherished memory and keepsake. As a school community, we thank and celebrate the wonderful mothers who contribute in so many ways to the success of our children and our school programs. Our mothers enrich our lives, support and validate our efforts and love us forever. For this we are truly grateful.
During the month of May, we celebrate Mary the Mother of God as well as our own precious mothers who touch our hearts and fill our lives with love, each and every day. We strive to be like Mary in our faith and we are inspired to learn and serve one another through her example.
It is a time for us to be grateful for the beautiful gifts of ‘love’ our mothers share with us in so many ways. We will find time to honor and place value on them by planning gentle surprises which delight their days.
We would like to wish all mothers and their families the peace, love and joy this special month brings.

The 110th Annual Edmonton Kiwanis
Music Festival was held in April this year.
Every year, the festival creates over
2,500 opportunities for music students,
actors, musicians and music lovers to
perform in front of an audience and
receive professional adjudication.
As always, we are proud of
our Monsignor Fee Otterson
grade 2/3, grades 4,5,6 choirs
and our Junior High GLEE.
They all performed with
excellence at McDougall
United Church and were
honoured to accept the
invitation to participate in this
years provincial competitions.
On Wednesday May 2, 2018,
Albertans are invited to wear a hat to raise
awareness of the importance
of good mental health.
Monsignor Fee Otterson will encourage
students and teachers to build
understanding by wearing hats to school.
Students will participate in lesson on
understanding mental health and the
importance of removing the stigma
associated with mental illnesses.
We share this message each year & hope you do not forget to …
“Anne of Green Gables” Grade 5/6 Wed. May 23rd & Thurs. May 24th
Grade 4 Monday May 28th
The Grades 4, 5’s and 6’s will be performing the musi-
cal based on L.M. Montgomery’s beloved novel of
Anne of Green Gables. This musical captures the spirit
and spunk of our feisty red-haired heroine. Orphan
Anne Shirley arrives in Avonlea by mistake, but she ulti-
mately charms the entire town into falling in love with
her precocious and imaginative mind, her passion
and her heart. Anne of Green Gables is a musical that
will delight the whole family.
“The Sound of Music” Grade 2/3
Tuesday, June 5th &Wednesday, June 6th The Grade 2’s and 3’s will be performing a play
based on the true story of the Von Trapp Family Sing-
ers, which captures a personal tale of growth and
hope during World War II. The tale is of a young Maria
Rainer, whose free spirit has trouble fitting into the
rules and regulations of Nonnberg Abbey. When Ma-
ria is commissioned by the Mother Abbess to serve as
the governess for seven motherless children, she
transforms the Von Trapp family home from a place
of dour rules and regulations to one filled with joy,
with laughter, and with music. In the process, Maria
wins the hearts of all seven children --
and their widower father, Captain Von Trapp …
and this is just the beginning!
