Dear family, Membership Care hosted a potluck on July 14th, ending up with 3 times the food than expected! It was wonderful to see everyone’s tasty contributions (and it was delicious! ) We had wonderful conversations as well as full dishes. Awe, is was so nice to see the Paterson family back with baby Eve. John & Pam McDonald opened their home for a potluck and pool party on July 28th and had fantastic weather. There was more good food to go around, and the hospitality was much appreciated The youth group had a great Archery Day and visited Joni Erikson-Tada, delivering bags they sewed in May. They are also planning a $5 art night at Art Trek and a “Sundae Sunday” for August 18th. Oh, remember to add the Youth Council meeting to your calendar, the last Sunday of the month. We have some talented family sharing their music this summer. Steve, Emma, Morgan, Mika, Abby, Marillion, Wendy, Ryan...the list goes on! When Jim Vargeson heals from his heart surgery he’s planned to sing, too! I’m looking forward to the Young / King family group I think on the 11th...see you there!
Summer Reading List You seen Pastor Stan’s reading list on the back of the newsletter? Make one of these your next book! These are two books he specifically recommended to the leadership team as he helps our church meet short and long term Mission goals. Both are available in print and digital at Amazon.com Shift 2.0 Helping Congregations Back into the Game of Effective Ministry By Dr. Phil Maynard Outlaw Christian Finding Authentic Faith by Breaking “The Rules” By Jacqueline A. Agape International Missions (AIM) Campaign
Did you know that UNICEF estimates that nearly 2 million children are exploited in the global commercial sex trade? We at St. Matthew’s are working to combat sex trafficking on both local and global levels. Our campaign ending August 4th is to support Agape International Missions (AIM), an organization working to defeat the evil of sex trafficking in Cambodia. The average age of victims living in AIM Restoration Homes is 12 years old! Our campaign will compris two Sundays, July 28 to August 4. The campaign will offer three ways to help the victims of sex trafficking in Cambodia: prayer, monetary donations, and purchasing products on line made by survivors. Join us in late July and early August to learn about the life-giving, grace-filled programs AIM uses in Cambodia to both prevent sex-trafficking and to rescue, restore, and reintegrate victims back into a safe life full of opportunities! https://agapewebsite.org/
