This is a presentation about viruses, Hacking and back ups!!
By Alice Daniels 7P
What is a virus? What damage can a virus do? A virus is an infection that can affect your computer. A Virus can spread and you
can pass the virus on to different computers. It can copy documents, delete documents and break your computer. There are many different types of software you can buy to prevent viruses from coming back and to get rid of them.
A common way that viruses spread is by email. To prevent yourself from getting a virus don’t open emails that have a unknown address. If you don’t know what emails to open ask your Mum or Dad for help.
Viruses
More about viruses...
What are the different types
of viruses?
I love youThe Melissa Virus
The Trojan Horses
These are all very dangerous viruses. SO BE CAREFUL!!
How can you stop yourself from getting a virus on your computer?
A good way of stopping viruses from infecting your computer is buying an anti-virus software.
Here is a list of useful software:Ad-Aware Pro
AVG Anti-Virus
AhnLab V3 AntiVirus
AOL Active Virus Shield
Virus Software!
Are there any drawbacks to using anti-virus software?
Yes, some software aren't useful and don’t always work. Some can make your computer slower and delete folders. This has a low chance of happening! Many anti-virus software are very good and can prevent viruses very well. I would suggest that you should research the software you want to buy, this will help you to know if the software will work or not.
Hacking Hacking is very dangerous as people can read and take personal information of of your computer. This presentation will inform you about hacking and what to do if someone is hacking your computer.
What is hacking? Hacking is when people have unauthorised
access to your computer. They can steal or copy your personal information.
Hackers send emails to your computer with a virus. This will then infect your computer and they can then access your information.
Hackers can do this without you even knowing!
Hackers can take CVs saved on your computer so they get a job.
They can change wills saved on the computer so they can get money.
They can look at your bank information, documents, pictures and plot things in your folders.
They can also find out where you live!
How can you stop hackers being able to get on your computer? As software called firewall will prevent
hackers from getting into your computer. When you are asleep at night and haven't
shut down or turned off your computer they start hacking your computer as you wont know!
Setting up a difficult password to your information will stop hackers!
BackupsHere you will find out all you need to know about backups. It will inform you how to backup your files and
where to keep them.
Why is it important to back up your work/information? Backing up your work provides insurance that you will be
able to restore your work from a backup copy if the original is lost due to theft, accident, hardware failure, software bugs, or a computer virus. This way you will still have your work saved and won’t lose it!
You can buy software
to help backup your data.
What should you back up your work information on to?
You should backup your backups to:
The Cloud (On the internet!) Memory Sticks but only if you can
secure them with a password Onto a disk
WHY?All of these ideas are very good to
keep your work and information on but you must make sure no one gets hold of them and you should have a password.(Try to keep them in a safe place, keep away from children and pets!)
Where should you keep your backed up work or information?
You should keep your backed up information in a safe place where it isn't hot as it might burn! Try to keep away from computers as
that’s where most people will search for them! A great place would be in a locked
safe!
How can you keep your backups secure( so that the data stays
safe)? You can secure you back ups by making sure
that the software you are using is safe. This will help to keep your information safe and in good care!
Thank you for watching my Powerpoint about internet safety!
I hope that you all now know a lot more about being safe on your
computer. Don’t forget to ask your parents if you have any
more questions!
