Player Notes: Lost the label as the last European to win a major following his 1999 Open Championship success at Carnoustie when Padraig Harrington triumphed at the same venue eight years later. . .Lawrie's victory in the 1999 Open Championship will forever be remembered as he came from 10 strokes behind with a magnificent final-round 67 to book his place in the four-hole play-off, birdieing the final two holes to beat France's Jean Van de Velde and 1997 Open Champion Justin Leonard. . .Lawrie returned to Scotland for his next victory, in 2001, at the inaugural Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, holing a 40-foot birdie putt at the last on the Old Course which won that season’s European Tour "Shot of the Year." Joined Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Tom Kite and Tiger Woods as winners of the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. His victory was only the second major triumph by a player from Northern Ireland, following Fred Daly, who also came from Portrush, winner of the 1947 British Open. It was the first U.S. Open victory by a European since Tony Jacklin in 1970 and he joined the elite company of British golfers to have won the U.S. Open alongside Harry Vardon (1900), Ted Ray (1920), Jim Barnes (1921), Tommy Armour (1927), and Jacklin (1970). His 1-2 finish with Frenchman Gregory Havret was the first such finish by two Europeans since 1927, when

Player Notes: Rewrote the record books at the 2011 U.S. Open by winning at Congressional Country Club with the lowest score in that championship's 115-year history, 16-under-par. The Northern Irishman had a 65 to lead after the first round, and he stayed way out in front over the next three rounds, producing an eight-stroke win over runner-up Jason Day. The victory was just two months after he came agonizingly close to winning his first major at the Masters Tournament, where he took a four-stroke lead into the final round, only to shoot 80 and finish 10 strokes behind champion Charl Schwartzel. Hit a 40-yard drive at the age of two, and later enjoyed a glittering amateur career during which he reached the top of the World Amateur Rankings and became the youngest winner of the prestigious West of Ireland and Irish Closed Championship, in 2005. Came to world wide attention for the first time with a superb opening 68 in The 2007 Open Championship at Carnoustie, the only bogey-free round of the day, and finished third in his second event as a professional, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. That earned him enough money to assure his place in the top 115 to be the then youngest and quickest Affiliate Member to secure his card – in just two events. Represented Europe at the 2004 Junior Ryder Cup and elevated to the real thing at The Celtic Manor Resort in October 2010, where he won two points out of four, including a crucial half in Singles: against Stewart Cink on the final day.Underlined his reputation as one of the game’s most exciting young players in 2010, making his Ryder Cup debut, being in contention in two Major Championships and clinching his maiden US PGA Tour title. Enjoyed a fine finish to the season to come 13th in The Race to Dubai, not quite managing the heights of the season before when he finished 2nd, when he narrowly missed out on becoming the youngest player to win the Harry Vardon Trophy since Seve Ballesteros in 1976 as Lee Westwood beat him in the money race. However, he won the 2010 Quail Hollow Championship in the United States in May 2010, thanks to a final round 62 to beat Phil Mickelson by four shots. Also finished tied third in both The British Open Championship and the PGA Championship, his opening 63 in the former at St. Andrews the lowest first round in the history of the tournament. Joined the PGA Tour in 2010, dropped membership in 2011, but has signed up again for 2012. Has had a rapid rise up the Official World Rankings. After his first professional start in 2007, was 308th. Got into the top-100 on Oct. 19, 2008. Got into the top-50 with his T-2nd finish at the 2008 Hong Kong Open. Moved into the top-20 when he won the 2009 Dubai Desert Classic and at the end of 2009 moved into the top-ten with a 3rd at the Dubai World. With his win at the Honda Classic this year, moved into the No. 1 spot, which only lasted two weeks before Luke Donald regained it with his Transition win. Did regain it back for a short time in April and lost it again to Donald in May.Played on the 2007 Walker Cup Team. 2010 Notes: Rookie season on the PGA Tour highlighted by an electric, final-round 62 at the Quail Hollow Championship en route to first PGA Tour victory. Posted T-3 finishes at the British Open and PGA Championship and was a member of the victorious European Ryder Cup team. Gave up his PGA Tour membership for 2011.2011 Notes: Won his first major in record-setting fashion by eight shots at the U.S. Open at Congressional CC. At 22 years, 1 month, 15 days, he is the ninth-youngest winner of the U.S. Open and the youngest to win the event since Bobby Jones in 1923. He is the first player in U.S. Open history to get to double-digits under-par in the first two rounds. He is the first player in U.S. Open history to reach 13-under par, 14-under par, 15-under par, 16-under par and 17-under par. Rejoined the PGA Tour for 2012.Won the PGA Championship, then the Deutsche Bank and BMW Championship, regaining the number one spot in the World Ranking.

to finish a career-best fifth in The Race to Dubai. That followed a Ryder Cup debut in October. Also achieved team success with brother Edoardo a year earlier as they made history by winning the Omega Mission Hills World Cup for Italy. Underlined his reputation as one of Europe's most consistent performers in 2010 with 11 top-10s tens, including losing a play-off to Miguel Angel Jiménez in the Alstom Open de France, second in the Portugal Masters, third in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles and tied fourth in The Barclays Scottish Open. Both times in Scotland, he played in the final group with Edoardo, who went on to victory on both occasions. The younger, by nearly two years, of the golfing Molinari brothers, Francesco upstaged the exploits of his elder sibling in May 2006 when he became the first Italian to win the Telecom Italian Open in 26 years, nine months after Edoardo became the first Italian winner of the U.S. Amateur. Played on the 2010 Ryder Cup Team.2010 Notes: Capped his career off in China when he beat Lee Westwood down the stretch to win the WGC-HSBC Champions. Didn't join the PGA Tour in 2011.2011 Notes: Only top-10 finish of the PGA Tour season a T-3rd at the WGC-Cadillac Championship, set up in large part with matching 4-under 68s in the opening two rounds. That continued his fine Ryder Cup record, having been the leading points scorer with four from five at Valhalla in 2008 after being selected as a wild card pick. Ended 2010 with victory in the UBS Hong Kong Open and nearly won the season-ending Dubai World Championship presented by DP World, but lost in a play-off with Robert Karlsson.
