EPISTLE: 1 TIMOTHY 4:9-15

This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance. For this we toil and struggle, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the savior of all, especially of those who believe. Command and teach these things. Let no one have contempt for your youth, but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. Until I arrive, attend to the reading, exhortation, and teaching. Do not neglect the gift you have, which was conferred on you through the prophetic word with the imposition of hands of the presbyterate. Be diligent in these matters, be absorbed in them, so that your progress may be evident to everyone.

GOSPEL: LUKE 19:1-10

He came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town. Now a man there named Zac-chaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man, was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way. When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.” And he came down quickly and received him with joy. When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner.” But Zac-chaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over. And Jesus said to him, Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abra-ham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.”

We hear that there was a good turn out of volunteers last month. Very early on a Friday and Saturday morning, Fr. Joe and a few hardy volunteers arrived to started all the preparations to ensure a smoother start for the rest of our volunteers at 8 a.m. There was work, good fun, nice fellowship and delicious food, resulting in 244 dozen pirohi made and available for sale. In other words, the nimble fingers and hands of our Pirohi Pinchers produced 2,928 tasty pirohi (the Rusyn singular is piroho, plural is pirohi). Certainly these were dedication and a result worthy of the thanks, esteem, and patronage of our parish community!

On Sunday, March 31 at 6 p.m.,
