All Souls Day Luminarias Remember a loved one. Honor a special person. Orders for All Souls Day luminarias are being accepted. All Souls Day Mass will be on Friday, November 1st. Luminarias will be displayed around the Rosary Walk and inside the Church. The donation is $5 per name. All proceeds benefit the Confirmation Program. This is the last weekend to order All Souls Day luminarias. Order forms are available in the pews, from Confirmation candidates, or the OLMC Bookstore.

Family Retreat November 9, 2013

All families are invited to participate in the family retreat that will kick off our 60th anniversary of the parish. It will take place on Saturday, November 9 from 9:30 AM until 6:00 PM. This retreat will include lots of fun for children, teens, and adults. Thanks for prayer, praise and worship with a guest Lifeteen band, experiences in a TVTS to learn about faith hope and charity as the virtues for the United family and parish community. Spaces are very limited, so please hurry and turn in your registration form to the Parish Office or you can email it to flopez@olmchou.org. Remember to register early as registration is first come, first serve. Single parent families as well as families with no children or teens are more than welcome to join us.

It’s Time To “Fall Back” Daylight Savings comes to an end next Saturday night (November 2nd). Be sure to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed. If not, you’ll not only be “on time” for Mass on Sunday, you’ll be early!

Retiro Espiritual Familiar 9 de Noviembre de 2013

Todas las familias están invitadas a participar en el retiro espiritual familiar que dará inicio a nuestro aniversario 60 de la parroquia. Se realizará el sábado 9 de noviembre desde las 9:30 AM hasta las 6:00 PM. Este retiro incluye muchísima diversión para los niños, adolescentes y adultos. Gracias a la oración, la alabanza y la adoración que tendremos con la banda invitada de “Lifeteen”, experiencias en el TVTS a aprender acerca de la esperanza en la fe y la caridad como las virtudes de las familias Unidas de la comunidad parroquial. Los cupos son muy limitados, así que por favor apresúrate y entrega tu formulario de inscripción en la oficina parroquial o pueden enviarlo por correo electrónico a flopez@olmchou.org. Recuerde que debe registrarse con anticipación ya que se registrarán en orden de llegada. Las Familias de un solo padre de familia y las familias sin hijos ni adolescentes son más que bienvenidos a estar con nosotros.

OLMC School News Red Ribbon Week at OLMC Red Ribbon Week was observed this past week at OLMC School. Traditionally during the annual Red Ribbon Week, students pledge that they will stay away from drugs. Activities and theme days were held throughout the week to emphasize the importance of staying away from illegal drugs and alcohol. This provides opportunities for students to have fun and display their red ribbons each day, while at the same time learning to stay away from drugs! A special thanks goes to our Student Council who lead this year's Red Ribbon Week activities. All Hallows Eve Celebration The annual OLMC School All Hallows Eve celebration was held on Friday night at the school. This annual celebration and PTO fundraiser is a chance for school and parish families to enjoy a night of fun! There were many games, contests and performances, as well as delicious food, and Halloween candy. This annual event helps our school's PTO to raise funds for the year, while also helping our school and church community to kick off the beautiful fall season ahead! The OLMC PTO would like to thank all of those who participated in making this a successful event.

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School continues its partnership with our neighbors Cristo Rey Jesuit high school for the 2013-14 school year. Each week students from Cristo Rey are assisting students with one-on-one tutorials, as well as reading to students and serving as informal academic mentors. Cristo Rey students are working with Mt. Carmel students in Pre-K through 5th grade. This partnership provides service opportunities for the high school students and greater learning opportunities for elementary students. This learning/service partnership is one of the many benefits of a Catholic education at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Cristo Rey Jesuit!

Noticias de la Escuela OLMC Semana de la Cinta Roja en OLMC La semana de la Cinta Roja se celebró la semana pasada en la Escuela OLMC. Tradicionalmente durante esta semana de la Cinta Roja, los estudiantes prometen mantenerse alejados de las drogas. Las actividades y las jornadas temáticas se llevaron a cabo durante toda la semana con el fin de enfatizar la importancia de mantenerse alejados de las drogas ilegales y el alcohol. Esto ofrece oportunidades para que los estudiantes se diviertan y muestren sus cintas rojas todos los días, y al mismo tiempo aprenden a mantenerse alejados de las drogas! Un agradecimiento especial a nuestro Consejo Estudiantil por dirigir las actividades de la Semana de la Cinta Roja de este año. Celebración de la Víspera de Todos los Santos La celebración anual de Todos los Santos en la escuela NSMC tuvo lugar el Viernes por la noche en la escuela. Esta celebración anual de recaudación de fondos es una oportunidad para que las familias de la escuela y de la parroquia disfruten de una noche de diversión! Hubo muchos juegos, concursos y actuaciones, así como deliciosa comida y los tradicionales dulces de Halloween. Este evento anual ayuda al PTO de la escuela para recaudar fondos durante el año, y al mismo tiempo ayuda a nuestra escuela y a la comunidad de la iglesia para dar inicio a la hermosa temporada de otoño que pronto se acerca! El PTO de OLMC quisiera agradecer de corazón a todos los que participaron para que este evento fuera exitoso.

La Escuela Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo continúa con su asociación permanente con nuestras escuelas vecinas como la Secundaria Cristo Rey Jesuita durante el año escolar 2013-14. Cada semana los estudiantes de Cristo Rey están ayudando a los estudiantes en tutorías personalizadas, así como con la lectura a los estudiantes y sirviendo como mentores académicos de manera informales. Los estudiantes de Cristo Rey están trabajando con los estudiantes del Monte Carmelo desde el grado Pre-K hasta quinto grado. Esta asociación brinda oportunidades de servicio para los estudiantes de secundaria y mayores oportunidades de aprendizaje para los estudiantes de primaria. Esta sociedad de servicios de aprendizaje / es uno de los muchos beneficios de una educación católica tanto en Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo como en Cristo Rey Jesuita!
