Prayer Intentions of the Holy Father JULY 2017

Lapsed Christians: That our brothers and sisters who have strayed from the faith, through our prayer and witness to the Gospel, may rediscover the merciful closeness of the Lord and the beauty of the Christian life.

Catholic Mass for the Homebound - The Diocese offers a televised Mass for the home-bound each Sunday at 7:30am on KFBT Channel 33.1 Digital (no longer an analog signal) or Cox Cable Channel 6.

Immaculate Heart Radio - Now in Las Vegas, you can listen to Catholic radio 24-hours a day by tuning your radio to 970am.

First Reading — Elisha promises a baby son to the hospitable woman (2 Kings 4:8-11, 14-16a). Psalm — For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord (Psalm 89). Second Reading — We shall live in newness of life as Christ was raised from the dead (Romans 6:3-4, 8-11). Gospel — Whoever gives but a cup of cold water to another will surely be rewarded (Matthew 10:37-42). Next Weekend’s Second Collection Diocesan Rural Parish Appeal

My Dear Parishioners, One of the primary responsibilities of the Catholic Church is to provide parents the opportunity to form and educate their children in a Catholic school environment. Catholic elementary schools are established to meet this need and offer a solid foundation of academics and Catholic values. In the Diocese of Las Vegas this is the goal of each of our six Catholic elementary schools. These schools serve not only the parishes to which they are attached, but all Catholic families in the diocese. Those of us who have had the opportunity to attend Catholic elementary schools are probably aware of the changes that have taken place. In the past most Catholic schools were the beneficiaries of dedicated Sisters, Brothers, and Priests who regularly staffed the teaching and administrative positions within the schools with limited compensation. Today we depend upon the many professional people who devote their vocations as teachers and administrators to the families that seek a Catholic education. Along with this transition, and the increase in facility operational costs, tuition has seen a corresponding increase. Realizing the financial burden that this increase can cause families who still hope to have their children attend a Catholic school, the Diocese of Las Vegas designates a second collection each year for elementary school scholarships. This year’s collection will be taken on the weekend of July 8th and 9th. An impartial assessment process is used to determine eligibility for scholarship assistance. I ask you to please be as generous as possible. Through your support of this collection young minds and hearts will be given the opportunity to receive the Catholic faith and academic formation they deserve. With gratitude for your continued generosity, I remain Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Joseph A. Pepe, D.D., J.C.D. Bishop of Las Vegas

Join Today & Consider Becoming a Monthly Partner

Your monthly pledge will help with Pregnancy Tests, Counseling, Ultrasound, Prenatal Care, Baby and Maternal Supplies & Educational Classes. It will play a vital role in helping the Women's Resource Medical Centers of Southern Nevada (WRMCSN) to continue to successfully achieve the mission of saving lives. The operating expenses of this ministry rely on the generous contributions of individuals, churches and community partners as the WRMCSN does not receive government funding nor do we charge a fee for service. By becoming a Save A Life Club Member, your monthly donation of $30, $50, $100 or more helps form a predictable source of income we can count on to fund our programs. It’s the easiest way to give and ensure that the WRMCSN receives your ongoing support. Your recurring monthly donation means, together, we will make a difference in the lives of those we serve!

RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults 2017-2018 FALL ENROLLMENT

Are you thinking about joining the Catholic Church or learning more about it? Ask yourself these questions:

• Where is your journey of faith leading you? • Are you interested in knowing more about the Catholic Faith? • Do you know someone who might be interested?

If so, come and see what the RCIA process is all about. The Right of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process for non-Catholics who are interested in (or even thinking about) joining the Catholic Church. It’s a process for those who have not received all of their Sacraments. Each year our parish begins this process to welcome any and all who are curious about, interested in, or just want to know more about the Christian faith as it is lived and celebrated in the Roman Catholic Tradition. This process is an amicable faith-sharing among friends. ENROLLMENT: June 9, 2017 - September 6, 2017
