We may be in the “Green Phase” but that doesn’t mean that COVID-19 is gone and we can return to the way things used to be. Until there is actually a vaccine and a treatment protocol for this virus, we must continue to be vigilant in protecting ourselves and our neighbors.
Our COVID-19 Task Force developed Guidelines and Protocols for all ministries and groups using the building in accordance with the Synod recommendation. All these guidelines are approved by our insurance carrier as well.
Everyone should enter by the double doors facing West Street.
Only persons with mobility issues should enter by the back

A Note About Hospitalizations
Please remember that hospitals can no longer contact churches when members enter the hospital due to the HIPPA privacy laws, unless you specifically request it. Even then, it’s unlikely that they will. You or a family member must contact us to let us know. If you are in the hospital, we ask that you make certain to list St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Carlisle as your church. Contact the church office at 717-243-2319 or one of the pastors.

Stewardship Snippet
August 2, 2020 (Ninth Sunday after Pentecost Proper 13) When [Jesus] went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. - –Matthew 14:14 Compassion and mercy. Wherever he goes, Jesus shows compassion and mercy, especially for the most vulnerable. As we steward our congregation into the future, how can compassion and mercy be a guiding principle for us and our church to help connect with our community and neighbors?

MAKE SOMEONE SMILE We may be in the green phase of COVID-19, but area nursing homes continue to operate in the red phase. This means that there are no group activities; residents are primarily confined to their rooms, no volunteers are allowed, and family visitation is limited to an occasional visit with a plexiglass barrier for end of life situations. St. Paul has had a long relationship with Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center through our monthly Sunday worship services, weekly devotional groups, etc.
We are inviting our church members to lift up the spirits and brighten the days of the residents at Claremont by sending them an encouraging card, a friendly note, a poem or story, or drawing. Anyone can participate, even children. Address your cards, letters, etc. to Dear Friend. The facility is requiring contactless drop off of all correspondence, so you can either drop it in my church mailbox, mail it to my home address (listed in the St. Paul directory) or contact Jackie Holzel, Activities Director at Claremont at 717-240-1937 to arrange for contactless drop off. Thank you, Gale du Pont
Noisy Offering for August 9 Next Week
The Noisy Offering for August is the Histiocytosis Association. The Histiocytosis Association is: Dedicated to: • Funding research that seeks
to lead to better treatments and a cure
• Raising awareness about histiocytic disorders
• Providing educational and emotional support
• Continuing to fight until a cure is found
Histiocytic disorders are a group of diseases that occur when there is an over-production of white blood cells known as histiocytes that can lead to organ damage and tumor formation.
In 1987, the Histiocyte Society classified these disorders into three groups based on the types of histiocyte cells involved.
The first group is called a dendritic cell disorder, and the most common disease in this group is Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH).
This is the type that our member, Myles Clapsadl, suffers from. We continue to support this association in Myles’ honor.

For the 11:15 service you would also read the 2 lessons and the prayers, the same as the first service. You will need to be there at least 15 minutes in advance. You would sit in one of the chairs up by the lecturn. It’s important to wear your mask, other than when you are actual-ly reading.

Wednesday Meal Help Needed for the Homeless
Since the COVID-19 shelter in place order began, we had to close many of our ministry programs, for exam-ple, the Wednesday night meals.
We received an urgent request for help supplying a meal for the C.A.R.E.S. guests by 5:00 p.m. for 45 people.
The dinners need to go to the CARES Center at 50 West Penn Street now. We got clearance to make it in our kitchen. We used containers that would not come back to the church. We do not sup-ply drinks or paper goods, etc.
We are asking for people to pre-pare or contribute a Wednesday meal for 45 homeless people.
Jody Hafner has set up a link to “Meal Train” to sign-up:
https://mealtrain.com/klwy62 Please post your menu when you sign up.
If you have any trouble with the sign-up contact Jody at: [email protected] Everyone needs to stay safe and keep their loved ones safe as well. The church kitchen can be utilized by no more than 5 people at a time
and kitchen precautions need to be followed. All surfaces must be pre-washed before prep begins with hot soapy water. Wash hands often and glove up when handling food. Masks must be worn during prep, packaging, clean up and when in the kitchen, stock room and the refrigerators or freezers. Please wear masks when delivering. Clean up includes wiping down all surfaces.
We have hams, turkeys, pork, beef, pastrami and sliced lunch meats, cheeses, frozen bread, and rolls which can be used. The center has been supplied with a lot of spa-ghetti and pasta dishes. They have not been given pasta salads with a sandwich or something like that. Aldi’s has great, cheap, never frozen pizza that would be easy to bake, slice in 8 pieces each, cov-ered with foil and re-box for deliv-ery with a couple containers of tossed salad. We have applesauce and salad dressings in our stock room to put into individual contain-ers. 45 people is not a hard meal to plan. We have containers with lids for hot soups or stews. We have several deep foil pans with lids. It takes 3 large deep ones for 45 people.
I will post what we have served on

the schedule for everyone’s con-sideration. So as not to burn any-one out, I am asking for your help. I would be happy to meet with you to go through every-thing and answer any questions.
The meals are now taken to the CARES Center at 50 West Penn St., Carlisle before 5:00 p.m. (which is right across the street from One West Penn)
Please consider signing up for at least 1 meal. Can you and a friend prepare or contribute a meal for 45 members of Carlisle’s home-less?
Thank you for your kind consider-ation and much needed support. Barb Woods can be reached by cell phone at 717-386-3456.
