An ExampleBat Summer

One warm summer night I was trying to get to sleep. The intense heat kept me from getting to sleep. I had

my window open to let in the cool air. All of the sudden, I heard what sounded like a bat. The next thing I

know, a bat the size of a milk carton flies in. My sister heard it too and ran out the door. The door

slammed shut and I was alone with the bat.

At that moment ,my life flashed before my eyes, and I screamed like a five alarm fire. The bat looked at me

as if it was as scared of me as I was of him. I threw the blanket over my heard and screamed for help. I

had hoped my sister would’ve come back to help, but I think she may have been out the door and halfway

to Texas. The bat fluttered about the room haphazardly. I assumed it was trying to get out because he

didn’t seem to want any part of me screaming in the corner.

Finally, my dad heard me and came running. As the bat flew wildly around my room, my dad snuck up on it

with a net. At that moment my fear of the bat turned into fear for the safety of the bat. I think I realized it

was just like me, both scared out of our minds. My concern now was just to get it out safely. I yelled to

my father, “Don’t hurt him!!!” My dad replied, “It’s him or me!” He caught the bat and then set it free

outside. My room was again safe, but I never slept with the window open again.

Reminders for Your Prompt

Your Narrative should be a story on a specific time about you with a clear beginning, middle, and end

Consider your audience knows nothing about you. Be specific with your details: use sensory images, interesting words, figurative language(similies , metaphors, personification)

Your personality should come through in your writing, but don’t use slang (no text talk lol)

Read your writing to yourself out loud to help check for proper grammar and spelling
