About Mrs. Alford
I am from Knightdale and graduated from East Wake in 1985
I graduated from Meredith College and graduate school at Campbell University
I am beginning my 25th year as a teacher
I’ve been told I’m sarcastic, but your best interest is my main goal.
Ways to do poorly in this class.
Begin any statement with “I can’t….”
Let past experiences determine what happens in the present
Give up before you even do (“Do or do not. There is no try.” Yoda)
Not seek help when it is needed
Expect things to be done for you
Not hold yourself accountable
Expectations
You are here to improve yourself to achieve the ultimate goal of being a productive citizen
Do not let distractions keep you from achieving that goal
Distractions take many forms such as
Phones- if they are out they are face down on the blue tape on your desk unless you are using them for a class activity. If they are being used, it is not to bully, harass or belittle anyone else.
Drama: Do not risk your entire future on what someone else may or may not have said, done or thought about you. Remember, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." - Eleanor Roosevelt
Losing site of your purpose: You will make and have friends here. Socializing with them is not why the school was built. There is a time and place for conversation. Learn when that is; I can help you with that.
We all have a job to do as students and teachers at KHS.
While we can’t be serious all the time, we also can’t be goof-offs all the time too.
Your education is important and you need to remember that.
Last thoughts
We work together, but I am not your mother
Clean up after yourself.
Keep up with your stuff.
Organize your materials, time and thoughts in a way that works for you.
Do your very best
Remember, we’re all in this together!
