THE DECORUM OF THE SYMBOL Decorum: appropriateness of behaviour or conduct. Old English meaning: suitability to the requirements of a person, rank, occasion. If the symbol is an earthquake, then the time element is appropriate to earthquakes: “And the same hour there was a great earthquake” 11:13. It would be inappropriate to have a symbolic earthquake for, say a year, because earthquakes do not last such a long time. If ravaging wild beasts are the symbol, then a time of 1260 days is appropriate. It would be incongruous to have a wild beast active for 1260 years, because beasts do not live that long. Conversion Rule: 1 hour = 2x, 1 day = 1x, 1 year = 0x

HOW LONG IS THE 1000 YEARS? “A thousand years” is repeated in Rev 20:2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 This is the only prophecy in the Revelation which is given solely in years, so Rev 20 is different to all other chapters.

All other references to 1000 years in scripture are to literal years Psa 90:4, Ecc 6:4, 2Pet 3:8.

All other prophetic time periods which are given in years in scripture are interpreted literally: 400yrs Gen 15:13, 40yrs Num 14:34, 70yrs Isa 23:15, 70yrs Jer 29:10, 40yrs Ezek 29:12. Using the day-for-year conversion in Rev 20 would make 1000 years into 360,000 years which is 100x longer than any other prophet time period in scripture (2520 years Dan 4:23).

A 1000 kingdom age fits the 7000 year plan. God rested on the 7th day Gen 2:2. The kingdom age is a rest in the 7th millennium Heb 4:4-9.
