Things To Walk In!

Introduction

Our walk is our manner of life! It is pleasing to God? Is it a walk like Enoch and Noah?

Genesis 5:22, 24; 6:9… “…Noah was a just man and perfect in his

generations, and Noah walked with God”

How must our walk be?

“Walk by faith and not by sight”!

We are to walk by faith in Christ Jesus! “For we walk by faith, not by sight” – vs. 7

2 Corinthians 5:1-8 Galatians 3:26 Romans 3:22, 28; 5:1

Must walk “as he (Jesus) walked”! 1 John 2:5 1 Peter 2:21

Must “walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us”

Ephesians 5:2 Must do what is best for our fellow man!

“love does no wrong to a neighbor” Romans 13:10

Who is your neighbor? Luke 10:25-19

Must “walk in truth”!

“Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.” Psalms 86:11

God’s word is truth! – John 17:17

“For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth” (3 John 1:3-4).

Must walk in righteousness!

As Elizabeth and Zacharias were, so must we be! Luke 1:5-6; Deuteronomy 6:25 Romans 10:1-5 1 Corinthians 1:8 Philippians 2:15 1 Timothy 5:1-7 2 Peter 3:13-14 Colosians 3:17

Must “walk in the light”!

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7)

No fellowship or forgiveness in darkness! 1 John 1:5 & 6; 2:3-6

Must “walk in His paths”! “And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the

mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem” (Isaiah 2:2-3, cf. Jeremiah 6:16).

It is a path to follow! Must be taught and learned – “It is written in the

prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me” (John 6:45)

God’s word is a lamp and light to our path – Psalms 119:105

Must walk in “good works”! “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and

that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Our lives must manifest “good works”… Galatians 6:9, 10 2 Timothy 3:16-17 1 Timothy 6:18 Titus 2:7-14; 3:8 Hebrews 10:24 1 Peter 2:12

“Walk in newness of life”! “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized

into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:3-4)

Must put of the OLD man and put on the NEW man! Galatians 2:20; 6:14 Ephesians 4:22-24 Colossians 3:1-10

Conclusion

How are we walking? By faith or by sight!

“And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it” - 2 John 1:6
