DESCRIPTION This second edition of the second volume in the Thieme Atlas of Anatomy series now focuses only on
internal organs. Coverage of the organs, by body region, reorganized and expanded by over 50%,
includes more clinical applications and radiologic procedures than the previous edition.
SALES HOOKS A new introductory section with an overview of the organs and discussion of embryologic
development
Each of the two regional units now begins with a short overview chapter on the region and its
contents, followed by a longer overview chapter on the structure and neurovasculature of the
region and its organs, and then by chapters on topographic anatomy of the region to support
dissection
An innovative, user-friendly format in which each two-page spread presents a self-contained
guide to a specific topic
Summary tables, ideal for rapid review, appear throughout
A scratch-off code provides access to WinkingSkull.com PLUS, featuring full-color anatomy
illustrations and radiographs, labels-on, labels-off functionality, and timed self-tests
COMPETITION 1. Sobotta: Atlas of Human Anatomy (3 vols.), 15e, Elsevier, 2010, 1111 pp, $169.00 - sold as set
only.
Internal Organs (Vol. 2) is closest equivalent in coverage to our book. Similar in that it is a text atlas
with meaty captions and clinical applications woven in, set up in 2-page spreads to teach each topic.
About two thirds our length with half our art and few if any summary tables. Pricing is what makes
them competitive. Our volume is longer and has twice the art.
2. Moore et al.: Clinically Oriented Anatomy, 7e, LWW, 1160 pp., 2013, $96.99; and Moore et al.:
Essential Clinical Anatomy, 4/e, LWW, 2010, 730 pp., $74.99.
Leading clinical anatomy reference and textbook with strong standing despite length of (1). Essential
Clinical Anatomy, 4/e is more often chosen by students and now adopted by instructors. We compete
due to our clinical focus and coverage of internal organs. Our book is exclusively internal organs versus
Moore et al. covers all body regions.

is positioned as a direct competitor to Rockwood and Greene. Comes with e-version and

4) Wiss: Master Techniques in Orthopaedic Surgery: Fractures, 848 pages, LWW, 2012, $249.99.
Combination of line drawings and color images describing surgical technique. Stannard is

DESCRIPTION Aesthetic Rejuvenation of the Face and Neck presents the latest surgical and non-surgical techniques
used in facial aesthetic rejuvenation. In the current environment of “lunchtime facelifts” and “light
lifts” that often produce poor results, this book fulfills the need for a text that takes a careful, detailed
approach to describing high-quality aesthetic facial rejuvenation procedures.
SALES HOOKS Written by experts from around the world, most fellowship trained by Dr. Connell
Presents techniques that provide long-lasting results and are proven to be safe
Enhanced with more than 650 full-color illustrations and photographs
COMPETITION 1) Lin: Aesthetic Head and Neck Surgery, June 2013, 256pp, $237, McGraw Hill
2) Regan: Advanced Therapy in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, May 2010, 800pp, $250
It is interesting to note that there is limited competition, since so much of aesthetic plastic surgery is
done on the face. The author’s marketing questionnaire mentions mostly older titles published a while
ago. Lin is a plastic surgeon and the book does focus on aesthetic plastic surgery. Regan is a facial
plastic surgeon and this book competes more with Papel than with this book.

DESCRIPTION The rapid pace of evolution in domino, or cascade-based transformations has revolutionized the practice of chemical synthesis for the creation of natural products, designed molecules, and pharmaceuticals.
“Science of Synthesis: Applications of Domino Transformations in Organic Synthesis" explores the topic thoroughly and systematically, serving as the basis for practical applications and future research. The 2-volume set presents the cutting-edge in terms of design, strategy, and experimental procedures, leading to multiple events being accomplished within a single reaction vessel. The content is organized by the core type of reaction used to initiate the event, be it a pericyclic reaction, a metal-mediated transformation, radical chemistry, or an acid-induced cascade among many others.
Volume 1 covers polyene/cation-pi cyclizations, metathesis, radical, and metal-mediated reactions, and non-radical skeletal rearrangements. Volume 2 covers pericyclic reactions (Diels-Alder, sigmatropic shifts, ene reactions), dearomatizations, and additions to C-O/C-N multiple bonds.
