Assign your score based on the extent to which participating in the previous class helped you achieve these course outcomes. I attended the previous class period and was very engaged in the activities. We had a discussion on gas power cycles. We focused on power cycles, carnot efficiencies, and the air-standard assumption. Outcomes 2, 3 and 5 were supported by class. 2. Reading Score: 7/7 State whether you read each of assigned sections prior to class. Which course outcomes were supported by the assigned reading? Class Participation and Preparation Evaluation

1. Class Participation Score: 8/8State whether you attended the previous class period and actively engaged in the class activities. Which course outcomes were supported by the class activities? Assign your score based on the extent to which participating in the previous class helped you achieve these course outcomes.

I attended the previous class period and was very engaged in the activities. We had a discussion on gas power cycles. We focused on power cycles, carnot efficiencies, and the air-standard assumption. Outcomes 2, 3 and 5 were supported by class.

2. Reading Score: 7/7State whether you read each of assigned sections prior to class. Which course outcomes were supported by the assigned reading? Assign your score based whether you completed the assigned reading and on the extent the reading helped you achieve course outcomes.

I completed the assigned reading from the textbook for today that included 9.5-9.7. It focused on power cycle such as Carnot, Ericcson, and Diesel. It is important to correctly identify property relationships. Particularly Outcome 5Conservation of Mass and Energy and Outcome 6 Increasing Entropy were supported by the reading.

3. Example Problems Score: 5/5State whether you thoroughly reviewed at least one of the assigned example problems. Which course outcomes were supported by the example problem(s) that you reviewed? Assign your score based on the extent to which reviewing the example problem(s) helped you achieve these course outcomes.

I looked through three of the example problems and they were straight forward though new conceptually. This section is much more complex than previous sections. They were helpful for me to understand mass flow in an unsteady system and how work relates to entropy balance.

Outcome 1 Problem solving; Outcome 2 Thermodynamic Systems; Outcome 5 Conservation of Mass and Energy; Outcome 6 Increasing Entropy

4. Questions Score: 5/5Ask any unresolved questions resulting from your reading or from your review of example problems. What are your questions regarding basic concepts and fundamental laws described in the assigned reading? What are your questions regarding modeling and analysis performed in the example problems you reviewed? If you do not have any questions, pose a question you believe would be a good question for a class discussion or for an exam.

Why is a diesel engine considered internally reversible while a Carnot engine is considered completely reversible?
