THERMAL ANAYLYSIS FOR POLYMERS: Trivedi Science
Thermal analysisis a branch of material science which deals with the study of change
in properties of materials subjected to change in temperature. The current day analysisis very vast and very dynamic. Continual innovations in the instruments, techniques,
and applications have been making its way to the field and in literature. Theoretically
speaking, almost all the substances, be it solid, semi-solid or liquid, can be analyzed
and characterized using thermal analysis. ts scope of application finds its way into
pharmaceuticals, food, electronics, polymers, ceramics, organic and inorganic
compounds and even biological organisms.
What is Thermal Analysis
!s defined earlier, thermal analysis is the study of change in properties of materials
when they are subjected to a temperature change. That is" all the thermal analytical
techniques measure the change in properties of the material as a function of time. This
information allows researchers to gain access to the macroscopic properties of the
material like equilibriums, thermodynamics, and kinetics.
Thermal Analysis !" P!lymers
#olymers have a wide range of applications. They are used in diverse fields from
cooking utensils to construction, from razors to rockets, from perfumes to petroleum.
$ecause of their diversity, the need to study them in depth becomes very essential.!lso, they are going to be used for applications in varied conditions. %tudying their
change in properties with changes in temperature becomes essential. This makes
thermal analysis of polymers very vital.
Thermal analysisprovides information of polymer characteristic data in relation to
temperature and time. This allows researchers to understand the polymeric
formulations, process history and final physical properties of polymeric materials.
Thermal analyzes techniques available include melting and crystallization
characteristics, crystalline studies, curing reactions and degradation analysis in different
conditions.
Tests F!r P!lymers
There are several methods of carrying out thermal analysis, which usually differ by the
parameters which are being is tested. %ome of the tests and the parameters that are
found are

T*! uses heat to force reactions and physical changes in polymers. t provides
quantitative measurement of mass change in polymers associated with the
transition and thermal degradation.
Trivedi E""ect and chan$es in at!mic level
The Trivedi E""ect brings about great changes at the atomic level of the polymers,
ceramics, metals, etc. without implementing any of the sophisticated technologies. The
effect of the Trivedi E""ecton the metals and polymers were analyzed through various
technologies thermal analysis,*(ray di""racti!nand other methods and it was revealed
that there were changes in the size, structure and mass of the atoms. To know more
