Therefore Go…
Testimonies from August 2013
Hello there
After almost 5 months of being parents it feels like we are finally
getting the hang of things and thankfully we don’t look quite as
tired as the photo on the right (which I included just for fun). The last month has been filled with more activity and I am starting to
find ways of incorporating ministry into being a mom.
I have been able to have a number of discipleship and counselling sessions from home
which have gone well. Last week I also hosted a bible study for other missionaries here in
Lima. There were just two of us, but it is a start
Thank you so much for you partnership with us in this new season of our lives and ministry. Jaime and I are learning so much every day, but knowing we count with your support
makes such a difference in our lives. We thank God for you!
God has opened a new door for me to be involved in prison
ministry. Unfortunately the conditions inside the prisons are not fit
for taking Kai and so I am unable to go in to visit the girls on the
inside for the moment. However, this month I will be teaming up with fellow missionary Pam Tullman to meet with those ladies who
have been released from jail, but who are completing their
sentences “on the outside” in Lima.
Life on the outside is often in many ways more difficult than being inside the prison. Many
of the girls return to bad habits or out of necessity end up in very compromising living
conditions. Pam and I are trusting God that we will be able to have regular Bible studies with these ladies in which we can provide them with the spiritual and emotional support
that they so desperately need.
This Friday two of our other prison ministry teammates have been given permission to visit
the girls in Piedras Gordas prison. They will be taking in blankets and clothes for the
ladies. Please trust with us that they will have much favour with the prison authorities and
that it will also be a special time with the ladies. I will be writing a letter to the group to
encourage them—please pray that God will give me the wisdom to write something that
will be life-giving to the ladies in this difficult season.
Prison Ministry….
Although I have really missed going to visit my kiddies in the community library in Simon
Bolivar, it has been such an amazing encouragement to see how the team from “Fe en Accion” have been so
faithful in continuing with the work there each week. The
number of children has grown and they have done
some amazing craftwork.
Three weeks ago Jaime and I were invited to a special
celebration that the team had prepared in the library.
Although we were a bit nervous about taking Kai, we
decided that it was important to spend time with the
kids again. Braving the cold, the train and the bus, we
set off for Simon Bolivar.
Upon arriving the kids saw us before we saw them
and come running towards us in the street crying
“Miss Keeeeeem! Miss Keeeeeeem!”. It really
warmed my heart. The children were so excited to meet Kai and it was wonderful to be able to share
the joy of my little boy with them. Jaime was also
able to look after Kai so I could participate in the
activities with the kids. We are hoping to continue
going to the library at least once a month.
In the Community….
Jaime and I would love to hear from you: please write to us at [email protected] or you could
call on +51 990 50 1552. My skype name is kimmysol.
Thank you for your prayers…. Thank you so much for praying for Jaime’s trip with two of the
leaders from MisfitAid, an Australian NGO. Jaime was able to
translate for them and give them much insight into some of the
development projects that they are looking to start in the
city of Pisco and the community of Pamplona in Lima.
MisfitAid specialises in construction work and the building
of homes for those most in need, mobilizing primarily
volunteers from the surfing community and the local
community where they are serving. They are planning to
bring teams from Australia to Peru in November to start
building. Jaime and I are hoping that we can be a
support to them again in the future.
Please pray for the meetings that Pam and I will be having
with the girls on the outside. Trust with us that their hearts will be
open to starting regular bible studies. Please trust with us for the visit to Piedras Gordas prison on
Friday—that Beatriz and Anita will have no problems in getting
in and that they will be allowed to take the donations of
clothing and blankets in to the girls. Please ask that God will give me much wisdom to minister effectively to the girls
that I am discipling and that any counsel I give will be in line with that which is in
His heart. Please continue to trust with me and Jaime as we seek God’s perfect plan for our
family for next year
Thank you for your prayers! They mean so much to us.
Please trust with us….
