What  is  the  RazorBee?  

•  The  RazorBee  is  an  offline/online  media  player  that  has  been  created  specifically  with  educators  in  mind.    

•  The  RazorBee  can  capture  online  mul<media  content  (images,  text,  video  and  sound)  and  then  be  used  to  create  custom-­‐made  classroom  learning  aids.

RazorBee  –  Future  Features    

•  Moving  to  Android  as  underlying  opera<ng  system.  

•   Adobe  Flash  10.1  /Flash  lite  4.0  support.  

•   Will  support  other  devices  (tablets,  netbooks)  with  RazorBee  soLware.  

•  BaMery  and  pico  projector  will  be  integrated  in  future  versions.

EDC  /India  -­‐  RazorBee  Development  Plan  

•  Table  of  content  created  for  naviga<on,  adding  descrip<ons,  objec<ves,  instruc<ons  for  teachers  and  exercise  materials.  

•  With  IRI  content,  a  playlist  op<on  is  provided  where  visual  images/text  can  be  added  with  the  audio  at  various  intervals.  

•  Customiza<on  can  be  done  locally  with  liMle  technical  knowledge.  

•  RazorBee  will  be  field  tested  in  20  schools  in  Delhi  in  October  2010.  

•  Offline  content  delivery  with  IRI,  group  teaching  and  learning  and  educa<onal  videos  (EDC  T4  project).

 What  is  the  role  of  ICTs  and  the  potenLal  applicaLon  of  a  device  like  the  RazorBee  (or  mobile  devices)  within  the  EDC  themaLc  areas  of:  teacher  professional  development  (pre-­‐service  and  in  service),  basic  educaLon,  and  youth  development?

•  Tes<ng  of  the  RazorBee  on  a  wide  scale  to  examine  impact.  Will  compare  data  from  1st  wave  RazorBee  tests  (Kenya,  Malawi,  Sudan,  Somalia,  Tanzania,  Botswana,  Rwanda,  Pakistan).  

•  Importance  of  cataloging  media.  Thema<c  content  portals/repositories  (accessible  via  RazorBee,  mobile  or  laptop).
