Linking to the Stretch Aim – This links to all 3 stretch aims.– Specifically we intend using on line practice

simulation as a vehicle for applying emerging policy developments to practice and as a means of fostering collaborative learning across children’s services

• Each locality in Scotland benefits from a range of professionals working with children.

• Each undertakes distinctive but complementary functions

• One way of supporting these is to ensure that “partners learn from each other”

Review of the Emergent Learning

– Substantial body of research literature which demonstrates the significant positive impact on learning , learning transfer and retention of learning that are derived from authentic learning design methodologies.

– NES; SSSC; Education Scotland and other key agencies are working together to deliver a practice simulation that shows how multi-agency best practice can be delivered by using a case study approach

• The Case study suggested for use would be “Paul’s story” from Collaborative 1.

• This benefits from being a “real world” context and shows how better inter agency collaboration could support Paul

• It also shows how the stretch aims can be better achieved by synchonisity of action and mutual professional understanding

Page 8: Themed Breakout: Situated learning opportunities Early Years Collaborative Learning Session Two

Our belief is that no one agency can achieve this but by using professional conversations( shown in the prototype) that professional decisions and judgement can be better supportedWe invite you to consider how this might support those involved become “more collaborative” in their practice

• How can you use this in devising small tests of change?

• How can you test its usefulness
