EXTENSION OF IIF MOU WITH JAPAN FOUNDRY SOCIETY

The MoU between IIF & JFS has been extended upto May 2018 i.e. for 3 years. The agreement for the same

was signed on 14th May 2015 by Chairman, JFS & President, IIF Mr. Vikas Garg during the recent 3rd Asia

Foundry Forum held in Tokyo.

The MoU provides for following areas of co-operation between the two organizations for the benefit of

their members & with the main objectives of strengthening mutual exchange of information between the

two organisations for promotion of joint cooperation and promotion of business opportunities.

a. Statistics

IIF and JFS will mutually share information on statistics such as annual production, exports of

castings and major types of components manufactured by industry etc.in respective country.

b. Operational Parameters?

IIF and JFS will share information of operational parameters, such as avg. productivity, rejection

rates, average size of units and number of foundries and employees etc.

c. Energy consumption

IIF and JFS will share information of avg. specific energy consumption in foundries.

d. Industry / Service Providers

IIF and JFS will share information on foundries with their capabilities, casting buyers, material &

equipment buyers & suppliers, manufacturers & technology providers etc.

Additionally, as requested by IIF, JFS will consider deputing their experts to help Indian Foundry Industry

on receiving specific request from IIF / the industry clusters. The reasonable fees for such experts will be

shared by the beneficiaries. Interested cluster members may send their specific requests to IIF’s Delhi

office at [email protected] giving the details of the member interested, specific intervention expected

& duration of expected stay of the expert & specialization of the expert. On receiving such requests, IIF

will take up with JFS for further perusal.

MSME GEF UNIDO CLEANTECH PROGRAMME 2015

Office of DC MSME has invited applications for the above programme to reach them by 30th June 2015.

This programme is supported by GEF/UNIDO

The entries for the SMEs will be made under the two clean technology areas:

• Energy efficiency - The Energy Efficiency category includes technologies that enable to save energy

in industrial processes

• Renewable Energy - It refers to replacement of inefficient fuels with cleaner and economical

alternatives which have more stable supplies.

Brief Objectives

One of the main objectives of the Indian SME Cleantech Accelerator Programme is to equip entrepreneurs

with critical skills that will enable them to take their innovation to the commercialization stage, or – if this

stage has already been reached - to help them scale up their innovation. Therefore, the 20 semi-finalists

will be invited to attend mentoring programme and business clinics during August to September 2015.

The top 3 finalists will be competing at Global Cleantech competition i.e. “Cleantech Accelerator” to be

held in November in California.

US H1 scrap average prices climb

It’s reported that the US H1 scrap prices averaged at US$251.5/long ton on June 8th, increasing by US$16.67/long ton from the previous week. Among them, the average prices of H1 scraps in Pittsburgh were at US$249.50/long ton, rising by US$15/ton; those in Chicago were at US$258.5/long ton, increasing by US$20/ton; and those in Philadelphia were at US$246.5/long ton, rising by US$15/ton; all in comparison with the previous week. The US H1 scrap price average prices were at $251.50 per long ton, as on 8th June, 2015. The prices remained climbed higher by $16.67 per long ton when compared with the previous week. The scrap prices have witnessed an increase after holding steady for seven weeks in a row. The average price of US H1 scrap in Pittsburgh, Chicago and Philadelphia was $251.50 per long ton, rising by $16.67 per long ton. The scrap prices had averaged at $234.83 during the week prior to this. The H1 scrap average price in Pittsburg was $249.50 per long ton. The average price remained witnessed a rise of $15 per long ton when compared with the previous week’s price. In Chicago the prices averaged at $258.50 per long ton. The prices here too rose by $20 per long ton when matched with the previous week. The average price in Philadelphia was $246.50 per long ton. The prices here increased by $15 per long ton when compared with the week before.

Ferrous scrap export by EU-28 countries declined sharply

The scrap exports by EU-28 countries during the initial three months of current year dropped sharply, as per the latest EU trade statistics released yesterday. According to trade data, the EU-28 nations’ scrap exports totaled 3,525,496 tons during the three-month period. The exports were down by 10.3% when

compared with those during the corresponding three-month period last year. The largest importer of ferrous scrap from EU-28 region was Turkey. The scrap imports by Turkey totaled 2,136,914 tons, constituting nearly 60.6% of the total scrap exports by EU-28 nations during this period. The scrap exports to Turkey dropped by 4.9% over the previous year. In second place was Egypt with 564,934 tons. The exports to Egypt plunged by nearly 70% when compared with the exports during Jan-Mar ‘14. The third largest export destination for EU-28 countries’ scrap was India with 310,466 tons. The exports to India increased by nearly 20% 625% during the three-month period. The top three destinations accounted for 77.7% of the total EU-28 nations’ export. The other major export destinations of EU-28 nations were: USA (178,374 tons, down 58.6%), Switzerland (128,067 tons, down 8.8%) and China (88,129 tons, down 15.6%). The scrap exports by the region during the month of March 2015 alone totaled 1,040,453 tons. This is marginally higher when compared with the exports during the previous month. The EU-28 nations’ ferrous scrap exports had totaled 1,014,524 tons during February this year. Turkey was the largest importer during the month with 525,253 tons. In second place was India (166,766 tons), followed by Pakistan (108,355 tons). The other major importers during the month were Morocco (50,883 tons), Switzerland (46,039 tons) and China (30,882 tons). S.G. cast iron price down

S.G. cast iron price drops slight in Shandong this week. Major producers already lower their prices by RMB20-30t to regular buyers with the market entering off season. Supply is still a bit tight in Shandong for the material but it is not enough to support the current market sentiment. Cast iron supply remains a bit tight in Shandong where the production has been abnormal for months. However, with demand shrinking further in June, Laizhou Gengchen accepts lower sales price.

Credit Link Capital Subsidy Scheme for Technology Upgradation

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) is operating a scheme namely

“Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (CLCSS) for technology upgradation of Micro and

Small Enterprises. The scheme was launched in October-2000 and revised from 29.9.2005.

The revised scheme aims at facilitating technology upgradation of Micro and Small Enterprises

(MSEs) by providing 15% capital subsidy (limited to maximum Rs.15 lakhs) for purchase of

Plant & Machinery. Maximum limit of eligible loan for calculation of subsidy under the scheme

is Rs.100 lakhs. Presently, more than 1500 well established/improved technologies under 51

sub-sectors have been approved under the Scheme.

Since inception of the scheme, 28287 units have availed subsidy of Rs.1619.32 crore till

31.03.2014.
