STOP SUMMER LEARNING DECLINE
Summer is a time to have fun
while still learning at The Goddard School. Our summer
programs offers a fun, enriching experience for your
children. According to the Michigan Department of
Education research show that “during the summer, students
forget many of the skills learned throughout the school year.” Also, “Children, who
lose ground over the summer, have a difficult time ‘catching up’ during the following school
year.” Whether your child is advanced or you feel they may not quite
be ready for the fall school year, don’t let them miss 11 weeks of summer learning
opportunity this summer. Mornings during Summer Camp
will be spent focusing on reinforcing reading, writing and
math skills
Field Trips Summer Campers will be going
on weekly field trips. Transportation will be provided
by Lake Orion School District Transportation department. There is a fee of $15.00 per
field trip. The fee can be paid with the field trip permission slip. Students are asked to be
at school before 9:00am on field trip days. Summer Camp T-shirts must be worn on all
field trips. Some field trips
require socks or a sack lunch. Please look for the following
symbols next to the field trip.

Special Events Campers will enjoy weekly
special events. Bike Day, Kona Ice, The Striped Circus, Wacky Science, Magic Joe, Juggler, Musicians, Petting Farm and
Dan the Creature Man.
Mini Camps Mini Camps are small programs
within The Goddard School Summer Camp program. The
Mini Camps will appeal to different age groups and have
different learning goals. Three different Mini Camps will be
offered each day, they will run for the whole week. They will be held in the afternoon from 1pm to 3pm (No Nap Time).
New This Year
Kodable: a program that teaches children computer
science. Tynker: a program that teaches
children to code. Flying Art: children will create
art that flies, wether it is a kite, paper airplane or an
origami bird. Map Camp: children will
explore concepts of geography while creating theme based
projects. Hip Hop Dance: Children will learn some basic dance moves and practice a choreographed
dance.
Returning Favorites Minute to Win it: Campers will
take part in a series of 60-second challenges that use
objects commonly found around the house. This camp will be
fun & challenging. Games Galore: Campers choose
from a familiar selection of board games, card games or
‘Chess @ 3”. Jewelry Making & Weaving: Campers will explore their creative side as they make
various items. Sports Camp: Outside & active.
We will be focusing on skills and fun in soccer, basketball,
baseball, relay races, dodgeball, kickball and archery.
Splash Day Two days per week is “Splash Day.” Weather permitting, we
get soaking wet with the sprinklers and water toys.
Campers will need a bathing suit, water shoes and a towel.
Please send your camper dressed for splash day with
sunscreen applied.
