INSIGHT SESSIONS

Loserville Insight session, October 2012

“Thoroughly enjoyed it! Meeting the director and exploring backstage was fascinating. The performance had an excellent range of production values -innovative use of stage design, lighting and props. Exciting and contemporary choreography and a genre that appealed to this young audience.”

These 90-minute sessions take place before the matinee performances.

Designed as participatory masterclasses, Insight sessions are facilitated by key members of the company and creative team (such as the director, writer and stage manager) and offer a first-hand insight into the creative choices made in staging a theatre production.

Kooza tells the story of The Innocent, a melancholy loner in search of his place in the world. The Innocent’s journey brings him into contact with a panoply of comic characters such as the King, the Trickster, the Pickpocket, and the Obnoxious Tourist and his Bad Dog. Between strength and fragility, laughter and smiles, turmoil and harmony, KOOZA explores themes of fear, identity, recognition and power. The show is set in an electrifying and exotic visual world full of surprises, thrills, chills, audacity and total involvement.

This exuberant show-within-a-show throws together gun-toting gangsters, sparring actors and romantic entanglements against a backdrop of a touring musical production of The Taming of the Shrew. With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, the terrific score is shot through with wit, charm and energy; stars include Adam Garcia (Got to Dance); Mousetrap Patron Clive Rowe and Hannah Waddingham (Spamalot).

Acclaimed writer E V Crowe’s (Hero, Royal Court) latest play is a contemporary tale about Grace, a young girl who knows the truth can be dangerous. In a virtual world of texting and Xbox, her relationship between fact and reality stretches, until a series of wilder and wilder lies leads her into a showdown with the police and puts her dad on the line. Where does her allegiance lie and where do the lies stop?
