CONGRATU LATI ONS ! In October Ron Tribe was given an . Honourable mention at the First World Triannual Exhi bition of Small Ceramics in Zagr eb , ruGoslavia. There were about 550 entries , of which 4 received medals and 12 honourable mentions , "Poc"asna Degree" . The awar d winning pots will be on a touring exhibition for about three years .

The official survey of the Canadian ceramic industry was published by the federal government early in the 1970's, in a book entitled "Ceramic Indus­tries in Canada" . This book is certainly outdated today, and we would like to produce a more up-to-date version. The most efficient and least expensive way of developinR &n up- to-date version is through our members' contribu­tion. We would like to know about your organization, your products , number of employees , proper mailing address and telephone number , as well as who to contact for further details. CESO is a non-government organization sending people on short term (usually 3 months) projects to developing countries as volunteer consultants . Right now they are searching for qualified craftsmen in just about every field of expertise. CESO pays round trip air fare , provides medical insurance and a small allowance for incidentals. The 'Host' (client) provides accommodation , food, local transportation and translation service , if necessary. Capilano College Crafts Dept is offering a new course beginning January 7, 1985: Art 230 Craft Career Training - designed to develop professionalism and good management in the Crafts person. Areas covered are promotion, advertising, business and marketing, portfolio design, photography, as well as teaching workshops . Guest speakers will be invited . ?orm and Function Workshop, The Banff Centre, School of Fine Arts. January 7-17, 1985. The Form and Function Workshop is designed to bring studio artists together for discussion and feedback on their production over the past ·year. The two weeks will be used to produce a group of works as a catalyst for exchange of views and criticisms within the group , as well as with the visiting artists . The workshop will be limited to eight people . Each will be provided with a wheel and access to the studio equipment. Visiting Artists: l~ayne Ngan, Hornby Island. Mr. Ngan is one of Canada's best kno••n ceramists who exhibits his work internation­ally. Walter Keeler, Wye Valley , Wales. Mr. Keeler is an English Coutry potter with a very individual style whose work is between the Leach tradition and the more controlled European design tradition. Fee: $260 . 00 .
