Chapter one Introduction I woke up with a yaaaaawn. I was snug, cozy and sleepy in my bed room at my house…..I stayed in bed for an extra 30 minutes(on Saturday)! Around 40 minutes ticked by. I got tired of being in bed so I stood up and walked lazily out of my room. I think I almost fell over the stairs at on point since I was sooooo sleepy. I went downstairs to eat some tasty toast topped with dark chocolate nutella and down a glass of milk. I prepared for baseball practice. Did I mention my Mom, Dad and my little cute sister Olivia were at my house. My Dad travels with me every single time to all my baseball practices. After everybody was ready to go to the field for baseball, we piled in our green, Mazda. Mom started the car and we drove off. When we got to the field we started a super hot four-‐hour baseball practice with Honmura, my baseball team. My team’s uniform is a jersey, which is white with black outlines, and the team mark is on the top right corner on the jersey is the kanji symbol for Honmura. The mark is all thick black. Practice is always like pop fly’s and grounders and batting. Practice is mainly stuff like that at baseball. During a two-‐minute break, about half way through baseball practice, Hasegawasan offered a pair of season tickets to anyone who wanted them. His son didn’t want to go to the baseball game. The game was the Yomiuri Giants vs. Hiroshima Carp’s baseball game at Tokyo Dome. Hasegawasan told my Dad that these were season tickets to the Yomiuri Giants vs. the Carp’s baseball game. Hasegawasan offered them to my Dad, you could probably guess what my Dad’ answer was, obviously it was yes. At first I thought the baseball game was going to be boring because were just going to sit down and just watch a baseball game. I thought The game was going to be boring and it wasn’t going to be fun at all. I felt misery stirring up inside me. When we arrived at Tokyo Dome I was having second thoughts about this baseball game thing. When I entered Tokyo Dome, I was so amazed by the noise level of the crowd cheering for the Yomiuri Giants. There were a lot of people. Most of the crowds cheering for the Giants except for one part where the Carp’s cheering section were. Since Tokyo Dome is the Yomiuri Giants home stadium, they were the home team and that’s why the Carp’s had only a part of the stadium for cheering. When we arrived at Tokyo Dome, we were a 5-‐minutes late. My Dad told me at baseball practice that since we got season tickets we would get free towels because we were supposed to wave the towel around when one of the Yomiuri Giant’s players
would get a really big hit, but not a homerun. The hit would get most of the time one run but still that was a big deal(that means every single time one of the Giants player’s gets a really big hit the somebody on second or third can touch home plate and score. The food we ordered was two hot dogs (one with ketchup and mustard for me and a chili hot dog for my Dad which had some really hot chili), one melon soda and two sun star chip bottles. When we found our seats, I was so glad. The seats were right in front of the field (with a tall net in front of us). After we settled in our chairs, it was time to watch and cheer.
Chapter two The baseball game
As we watched the baseball game we ate our delicious hot dogs and crispy chips. When I started to eat my hot dog, Dad looked for his chili hotdog, but couldn’t find it on the hard plastic tray. He thought he had ordered two hot dogs, one for me and one for him. Dad said two hot dogs in Japanese wrong or maybe the workers at the hot dog stand in Tokyo Dome just made a mistake. As a result my Dad ended up leaving his blue, hard, metal, chair by me and hurried back up the stairs to get a hot dog at the hot dog stand. A few minutes passed and I watched the baseball game. When Dad came down the steps again I noticed that he had two chili hot dogs instead of one. He said he was hungry because he didn’t have any breakfast in the morning. I have to admit, I myself would get two hot dogs if I didn’t eat any food for breakfast in the morning. I thought the food was great. I would give it a seven out of ten. The hot dogs were really good but not great. To make it a 10 out of 10, I would make the sausage, juicier, thicker and add more taste to The hot dog. I’m pretty sure that I was really, really BUMMED, disappointed and a bit mad too when The Carps scored two points and Giants were still on zero. From there on things didn’t go so well for the Giants. Each time the Carps were up to bat they got a few hits but luckily they got zero points every inning. It went like that for the rest of the innings until the Yomiuri Giants finally scored one run each in the 7th and 8th innings to tie the score at 2-‐2. When the last inning came and it was the Yomiuri Giants last turn to bat I knew it was going to be a tiebreaker. The first batter came up to home plate to bat and smashed the ball and made it to first base! Then the next batter came up. While he was trying to bash the ball, the runner on first stole 2nd base. Now the winning run was in place with no outs. Even better, the current batter was able to get a hit as well and now there were runners on first and third after he got the runner moved from second by his base hit.
The next batter unluckily got out by hitting a pop fly and left field caught the ball(really sad). The following batter got out too by hitting a grounder to shortstop so shortstop threw the white ball to first that meant it was two outs. I got really tense when it came to the fifth batter, #24 Takahashi. As the pitcher pitched balls, it came down to three balls and two strikes or as we say in baseball, a full count. The next pitch came right down the middle, BAM the ball soared over the center fielder’s head and softly bounced off the black soft stadium wall! “Go Takahashi!” I yelled. Takahashi only managed to dash to first base but obviously the run the Giants needed finally came and gave them the super sayonara win. “Hooray!” I shouted. I was amazed, shocked and so happy! After the fantastic baseball game I begged my Dad to get a t-‐shirt and I ended up picking the shirt which the batter who got the sayonara hit wears and that shirt is in my closet right now waiting to be worn on a hot sunny day! As for me, I would totally like to see another awesome baseball game as soon as possible! I hope it will be another game with The Giants playing.
