The year of the woodhorse...
...began on the Lunar New Year January31st and lasts until February 18th, 2015. The energy of wood is about reachingupwards and out. Its about making plansfor the future and seeing them through. The energy of this year is about movingforward! Just make sure to stay groundedand focused amidst the momentum...
Self-RenewalRecently, I received a phone call from a 44year old man who had been diagnosed withPancreatic Cancer. He was searchingalternative treatments to "cure" his cancer.

He went to see an oncologist who wantedhim to go on chemotherapy. He asked thedoctor, if, after he went on chemo, would hiscancer be cured. The doctor replied that thechemo might buy him more time but thatthere wasn't a cure for his cancer. Uponhearing what the chemo side effects wouldbe, the patient decided to look for otheroptions. The conversation we had movedme deeply. I already understand thepreciousness of life but in my day to dayinteractions I tend to forget. Am I reallytaking the best care of myself that I can? Iwant to live in the present with theunderstanding that life has so manyblessings to offer me and not worry about thefuture. I ask myself, am I taking advantageof all that I can? Yoga, followed by an amazing acupuncturetreatment reminded me of the blissful statethat can happen when there is nothing to dobut become receptive to the healing life forcewhich is within ME. How many times have Irun around with my huge "to do" list andforgot to melt into myself and just be still? Itis a lesson worth remembering.

fine.Occasionally at social gatherings people'scuriosities are awakened when they find outI practice Chinese Medicine. A commonreaction is, "I've always wanted to tryacupuncture but I have nothing wrong withme." Chinese Medicine and the WorldHealth Organization (WHO) agree thathealth does not exist in absolutes. As in,health is not simply the lack of an officialdiagnosis. The WHO defines health as "astate of complete physical, mental andsocial well-being and not merely theabsence of disease or infirmity."
Being healthy exists on several planes. Itdepends largely on what we put in ourbodies and choices we make daily. Beinghealthy also depends on how often we takea much needed break from our busy brainsso our physiology can function as it should,so we have the space to heal ourselves. Acupuncture can put a pause on thethoughts that invent things and trick us tobelieve that we are in a state of heightenedstress. Acupuncture lets the body do what itwas designed to, like digest food, menddamaged tissue and bone, and procreate.
Several conditions have been linked to thesechronic or prolonged stress states such as,certain autoimmune conditions, problemswith the gut, and fertility. Often we don'tknow how stressed and tired we are until weactually lie down and relax! Some benefits of regular acupuncture are:increased immunity, better digestion, increased libido, decreased anxiety, andfeeling more balanced. The ancient doctorsused to get paid to keep patients well. So,come, take a relaxing break in your day andlet your body, mind and spirit get that deeprelaxation that is provided from anacupuncture treatment. And if you getreally motivated, you can add a massage
