Subject: Progress Report of University of the Punjab, Jhelum Campus of last 2 years.

Honorable Sir,

University of the Punjab, Jhelum Campus is a sub-campus of University of the

Punjab, Lahore and was established in 2012 stretching upon 32 acres of land. This campus

will “In Sha Allah” progress rapidly in academic field and our students when pass out will

compete at international level and contribute to world the development of humanity and

mankind. After assuming charge w.e.f. March 15, 2017 as Director Campus, the

undersigned have done various activities for the betterment of the campus, and the briefs

thereof are as follows:

1. The installation of HBL Booth within the premises of PU Jhelum Campus for the collection of fee from students of PU Jhelum Campus and other deposits. In order to save students’ time and expenses HBL Booth has been installed within

the campus premises so that the financial matters of the students and faculty can be

addressed conveniently.

2. The installation of ATM Machine within the premises of PU Jhelum Campus. Following the tradition of University of the Punjab, Lahore an ATM Machine has

been installed within the campus to ensure a quick availability of cash in any case of

emergency and others.

3. Installation of ACs in the classrooms for the students. Keeping in view the blazing heat of extreme summer weather Air Conditioners have been installed in the classrooms to ensure the convenience and smooth learning of the students.

4. Installation of sign boards with in the whole campus. From the perspective of visitors’ convince various sign boards have been installed within the whole campus in order to avoid any kind of confusion for the outsiders to reach their desired department.

5. Plantations at mass level with in the premises of whole campus and at Bajwala. PU Jhelum Campus participated in the tree plantation event on the invitation of apex District Management at Bajwala (Jhelum), where around 26000 trees were planted which were provided by Divisional Forest Department Jhelum. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Chaudhary Fawad Hussain Federal Minister, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Islamabad Pakistan.

6. Started work on overhead bridge in front of PU Jhelum Campus Gate No. 4. PU Jhelum campus is situated at the main G.T. Road which is always a rushy area. Therefore in order to avoid any sort of mishap the management has taken the initiative to work on overhead bridge in front of campus’s gate. 4. A number of people will be relieved via PU’s this act of humanity.

7. White Wash of both buildings last year. In order to keep up the maintenance of the campus both the buildings have been whitewashed last year to uphold the beauty, grandeur and status of University of the Punjab.

8. Annual orientation ceremony for more than 807 students along with their parents. University of the Punjab Jhelum Campus organized its 8th Orientation Ceremony 2018 on Saturday November 17, 2018. The purpose of this orientation was to welcome the new enrolled students for the academic session 2018-19. It is worth mentioning that all the new students with parents, faculty and administrative staff attended the ceremony.

9. Arranged 1st Convocation in the history of PU Jhelum Campus chaired by VC along with Deans and other high officials. It was a matter of great honor and immense prestige that under the directorship of the undersigned PUJC held its 1st convocation where merit was celebrated with the worthy VC, Deans and other high officials of University of the Punjab.

10. We celebrate all events of the history and invite distinguish guests from the

society. PUJC has developed the tradition of celebrating various historical events and multiple intellectual talks from distinguished guests from different fields of life. For this purpose an Event Management Team of the campus has been designed to

arrange different seminars and workshops at the campus.

11. Seminar on Anti-Drug Awareness among students

An Anti-drug awareness seminar under the theme “Say No to Drugs” was held at

Punjab University Jhelum Campus on Wednesday January 16, 2019. PUJC

administration in collaboration with top District Government Officials (Deputy

Commissioner Jhelum, District Police Officer Jhelum) provided great magnitude of

awareness on the said theme through substantial speeches and campaigns.

12. Inter-Collegiate Naat Competition On Thursday 18th May, 2017 University of the Punjab Jhelum Campus organized

Inter-Collegiate Naat Competition. Students from 28 Colleges of Jhelum region

participated in it. Position holder students are awarded with shields, certificates and

cash prizes. All other participants are awarded with certificates.

13. Seminar on the Role of Pakistan Army in Nation Building

On Thursday 18th May, 2017 Seminar on "Role of Pakistan Army in Nation Building"

held at PUJC. Brig. Kaleem Mushtaq was the guest speaker. Chief Guest expressed

that Role of Pakistan Army is not limited to borders, he briefed different activities

that Army is involved in; e.g. War against terrorism, disaster management, census

2017, education, health facilities, CPEC, infrastructure, Gawadar Port etc.

14. Lecture by Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen PUJC arranged a very meaningful and fruitful lecture by Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen,

Dean Faculty of Economics & Management Sciences (PU) to educate the students

about the effective interview and job skills and also to provide dynamic career

counseling for a promising future.

15. Seminar on Fulbright Scholarship and GRE Test The administration of PUJC in collaboration with United States Educational

Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) organized a seminar on US Fulbright Scholarship

Program to bring awareness to the students regarding multiple US based

scholarship programs for a promising future.

16. Seminar on Road Safety A Road Safety Seminar on Safe Driving Techniques was mutually organized by the administration of PUJC and National Highways & Motorway Police. Keeping in view the busy location of the campus and an increase in the number of road accidents the seminar was inevitable to bring awareness among the students about their duties as a responsible citizens and cautious drivers.

17. Workshop on CV Writing and Interview Skills On Wednesday 17 May, 2017 one day workshop was organized on CV Writing & Interview Skills. Mr. Farrukh Abbas Khan HR Manager at ACE Money transfer was the trainer. The purpose of this workshop was to inject the skills in the passing out students so that they can compete and present themselves in a better way.

18. Laptop Distribution Ceremony On Thursday 25th May, 2017 Prime Minister's and Chief Minister's Laptop Distribution Ceremony held at University of the Punjab Jhelum Campus, Jhelum (PUJC). All the credit goes to the then Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Zaffar Mueen Nasar. 146 laptops were distributes among students on merit basis.

19. Extra-curricular/Co-curricular Activities at PUJC PUJC has organized quiz competition and certificates, shields were awarded to students who got positions in it.

20. Arranged 1st ever job fair for the students of PU Jhelum Campus. On Friday 19th May, 2017 First time in the history of University of the Punjab, Jhelum Campus (PUJC) job fair was conducted on campus by a Multinational company that is OPPO Mobile Technologies Pakistan (Private) Limited. Administrator expressed his gratitude to the Management of OPPO especially to Mr. Wei Libin (Regional Manager), Mr. Shan Zhang (Regional Manager), and Mr. Taimoor Azhar (Branch Manager) for arranging such a healthy activity for the students of PUJC.

21. Signed MoU with OPPO Mobile Camera Phone for the hiring of the students of the campus. On Tuesday 23rd May, 2017 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between Dr. Muhammad Mudasar Ghafoor as Administrator University of the Punjab Jhelum Campus and Mr. Shan Zhang Regional Manager OPPO Mobile Technologies (Pvt.) Dr. Mudasar Ghafoor appreciated the efforts of Mr. Tabassum Riaz (Lecturer Commerce), Mr. Haroon Iqbal (Lecturer Business Administration) and Mr. Taimoor Azhar (Branch Manager OPPO) for establishing Industry and academics liason.

22. Arranged Sports Gala on annual basis with in the campus premises.

One cannot deny the role of co-curricular activities and specially sports in keeping a healthy balance between mind and body. Therefore PUJC upholds the tradition of arranging sports gala annually to promote the customs of team work, sportsmanship and fairplay among the students.

23. Community Services Blood Donor Society of University of the Punjab Jhelum Campus arranged a MASS BLOOD CAMP in collaboration with Medicos Aid Society (Regd.) Rawalpindi Medical College, Rawalpindi. Main Blood donors were faculty members, Administrative staff and students (Male & Female).

24. Sanctioned Police check post within campus premises with 4 police officials

after the meeting with DPO Jhelum which is now effective. Dr. Muhammad Mudasar Ghafoor, Director, Punjab University Jhelum Campus visited the office of District Police Officer Jhelum dated: 11-12-2018 to discuss the security matters regarding Punjab University Jhelum Campus. The meeting remained very productive as the worthy Director got a police post sanctioned from him to be established within the campus premises according to which four police officials will be deployed on deputation on the said police post and they will patrol 24 hours within the campus premises and would remain on Director Campus’ disposal. The police check post is now effective.

25. Formulized purchase committee to deal with the financial matters at PUJC which is effective now. In order to deal with the financial matters at PUJC it was decided that proper purchase committee will be formulized and for this purpose various faculty members have been assigned duty for the smooth conduction of financial affairs.

26. Purchased through proper channel the furniture, student’s chairs, and

projectors for increased students along with computer for new classes and for teachers. In order to keep pace with the technological and infra structure demands of both students and faculty members it was decided that proper record will be maintained

to track the expenditures and demands of the campus, and that things like projectors and furniture will be purchased through proper channel.

27. The establishment of Punjab E Rozgar Lab for the reduction of unemployment

from the society. Taking an initiative to reduce the ratio of unemployment from the society PUJC has established Punjab E Rozgar Lab to engage the youth of the area providing them with a constructive approach towards their technological and digital future.

28. Regularized the cafeteria, cycle stand trough PPRA and we have increased the campus revenue three times from previous income. Inevitable measurements have been taken to improve the standard of campus cafeteria and cycle stand. This has not only improved the hygiene of the students but has also caused a remarkable turnout in the campus revenues.

29. Admissions Process at PU Jhelum Campus 3500 admission forms, which is 175% more than the last year. It is worth mentioning that first time computer based admission process has been introduced at PU Jhelum Campus.

30. Installation of Water filtration plant (free of cost) in front of cafeteria is in

progress On May 16, 2019, with Almighty's grace, the first water filtration plant at PU Jhelum Campus has been installed and inaugurated by Dr. Muhammad Mudasar Ghafoor. It will not merely provide filtered water but cold water as well. Mr. Faisal Rasheed, Estate Officer PU Jhelum Campus's services are highly appreciated in this regard.

31. Fixation of Garden Benches There was no proper benches for students to sit in the gardens of campus. Therefore, fifteen concrete garden benches were brought from Lahore to Punjab University Jhelum Campus and fixed at fixed at various places within the campus premises.

32. Organization of Blood Camp Keeping in view the growing menace of Thalassemia within country, blood campus have been established time to time within the campus by different medical universities / societies in order to tackle the need of blood of Thalassemia patients.

33. Induction of Regular Faculty Members. When I assumed the charge of Director PUJC there was only one regular faculty

member whereas the rest faculty was on contract. With Almighty’s grace and on his will, I

put my sincere efforts to get PUJC regular faculty in all its departments, and now there are

more than 15 regular faculty members along with non-permanent ones at PUJC.

34. Establishment of Medical College at PUJC The worthy Vice Chancellor, University of the Punjab, Lahore paid his kind visit to

PU Jhelum Campus and announced a Medical College that will be established in PUJC

on the same lines as it has been approved for the main campus. For this, budget has

been approved and work is progress.
