Prayer of Adoration
GIVE PRAISE AND THANKS TO GOD_________________
*Hymn # 72 “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”
Deacons will collect prayer requests
*Prayer of Confession
God of grace, love, and communion, we confess that we
have failed to love you with all our heart and soul, and mind;
and to love our neighbor as ourselves. We ignore your
commandments, stray from your way, and follow other gods.
Have mercy on us. Forgive our sin and raise us to new life that
we may serve you faithfully and give honor to your holy name;
through Jesus Christ, the One who is faithful to the end. Amen.
*Assurance of God’s Forgiveness
*Congregational Response Hymn # 72
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, thy own dear
presence to cheer and to guide; strength for today and bright
hope for tomorrow, blessings all mine, with ten thousand
beside! Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed thy
hand hath provided—great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!
Time with the Children
Anthem (11:00) Lambec Music Camp
Joys and Concerns
Prayers of the People and the Lord’s Prayer
…Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy
kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we
forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver
us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the
glory, forever. Amen.
Offering our Gifts to God
*Doxology Hymn # 34
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Hosea 11:1-11 ■The Message 1 "When Israel was only a child, I loved him. I called out, 'My
son!' - called him out of Egypt. 2 But when others called him,
he ran off and left me. He worshiped the popular sex gods, he
played at religion with toy gods. 3 Still, I stuck with him. I led
Ephraim. I rescued him from human bondage, But he never
acknowledged my help, 4 never admitted that I was the one
pulling his wagon, That I lifted him, like a baby, to my cheek,
that I bent down to feed him. 5 Now he wants to go back to
Egypt or go over to Assyria - anything but return to me! 6
That's why his cities are unsafe - the murder rate skyrockets
and every plan to improve things falls to pieces. 7 My people
are hell-bent on leaving me. They pray to god Baal for help.
He doesn't lift a finger to help them. 8 But how can I give up on
you, Ephraim? How can I turn you loose, Israel? How can I
leave you to be ruined like Admah, devastated like luckless
Zeboim? I can't bear to even think such thoughts. My insides
churn in protest. 9 And so I'm not going to act on my anger. I'm
not going to destroy Ephraim. And why? Because I am God
and not a human. I'm The Holy One and I'm here - in your very
midst. 10 "The people will end up following God. I will roar like
a lion - Oh, how I'll roar! My frightened children will come
running from the west. 11 Like frightened birds they'll come
from Egypt, from Assyria like scared doves. I'll move them
back into their homes." God's Word!
Song of the Prophets
In ages past the mighty Lord by
prophets spoke the Word,
And from their lips God’s great design
throughout the earth was heard.
In revelation, parable, bold fantasy,
and dream,
They echoed God’s eternal vow to
ransom and redeem.
Come, let all flesh return to God, who
breaks, then binds as one;
Who makes death-shadows disappear
with resurrection sun.
Return, O children, to the Lord, and
blossom like the vine;
God will set right each dreadful wrong,
and life by grace refine.

Labor Day greetings to you and yours! God is among the human race, among
this congregation, and in the midst of each of our lives. Try as we might, we
can’t shake loose from this God. Every corner we round there’s God again,
loving us. No matter what we think, say, do, or become, somehow God meets
us and calls us home to him again. Our love for God and for one another is
sporadic and has limitations. But God’s main character trait is
FAITHFULNESS. And God’s love never ends. -Pastor Karl
