POST SHOW REPORT
2014The world’s leading trade fair and conference for security, safety and fire protection
Strong, steady performance figures. A promising road ahead.
www.intersecexpo.com
In 2014, Intersec was recognised as the largest security and safety exhibition, not merely in the Middle East, but all across the world. The high-profile show was held under the patronage of, and officially opened by, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Intersec has always been, and will continue to be, the essential must-attend event for safety, security, fire protection and homeland security. Our track record of growth and progress over 16 years is testament to this fact, and is an indicator of our future impact and reliance.
A newsworthy achievement
“We have been exhibiting at Intersec for eight years. We have met potential clients from all over the world like, South Africa, Jordan, Syria, Yemen, GCC, Tunisia, Morocco, Zanzibar, Tanzania, Sudan and many other countries. In 2015 we will be exhibiting again because Intersec is an important networking platform to meet new clients and to expose your products.”
Infinova Mr. Nitin Amin Marketing Manager
“Intersec is a fantastic show because it brings together the whole security buying chain in a way that few other security shows can. For IDIS it’s the chance to introduce our game changing Direct IP solutions to the Middle East.”
IDIS Mr. Martin Cowley Channel Manager

Live and interactive knowledge sharingFrom occupational safety and health to mobile phone crime, diverse and crucial topics were discussed at this year’s Intersec Conferences, led by a distinguished and respected set of speakers.
Safety Design in Buildings Conference
Held under the patronage of the Directorate General of Civil Defence, Dubai, the Safety Design in Buildings Conference culminated at Intersec after a successful GCC-wide tour in 2013, and covered safety standards and practices in the built environment.
Mobile Phone Crime Conference
Addressing an interesting and highly relevant topic for modern times, the Mobile Phone Crime Conference was held in association with Dubai Police and the International Centre for Security & Safety. A distinguished set of speakers attended from Scotland Yard, Copperhouse Solutions UK, Dubai Police, DPS and du.
IOSH Middle East Occupational Health Seminar
This seminar was conducted in association with IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health). With a primary focus on safety in the workplace, it addressed topics such as social responsibility in the workplace, health implications of noise exposure in the workplace, heat stress, hand protection, and even stress management.
Intersec 2014 Conference
Techtextil Middle East Symposium
For the first time, the Techtextil Middle East Symposium at Intersec ran in association with International Newsletters and Technical Textiles International. Attendees discovered the immense potential of technical textiles, as well as their relevance and specific applicability to the safety and protection market.
Importantly, the symposium featured speakers who were active in the production of advanced and high performance textiles, with a particular emphasis on application areas and issues relevant to this region, such as operating in hot, arid climates.
IWMA Seminar
At the IWMA Seminar, the topics discussed provided key insights into water mist fire protection, water mist for fighting fires, water mist system recognition in the Middle East, and performance based fire protection with water mist.
Exhibitor Profile
“Oracle is participating for the first time at Intersec. Oracle is mainly known for its software solutions and this is an opportunity for us to share our security solutions with our clients. During the show we have met many clients from the government such as the Dubai Police and delegates from Saudi Arabia. We are happy to be part of Intersec and next year we will participate again in order to expand our message to our potential clients.” Oracle Mr. Charito Aguada Systems Programs Manager
“It’s a great show, growing every year. We participate to meet our VIP customers to show the top latest technology. We are glad to be here where Intersec is getting bigger and bigger every year.”
Tyco Security Products Mr. Tarek Ismail Director – Middle East
“I still remember when we started 16 years ago and were the major exhibitor at Intersec, but at that time we were small. We grew together and now Intersec is one of the biggest exhibitions for Fire & Safety worldwide and we are still the largest exhibitor.
As usual visitors come from everywhere, but this year was exceptionally busy and we have managed some good business prospects.”

“Intersec has been fantastic for us so far. This is the second day and we are seeing tremendous growth and a big turnout, not just from the security market, but from other markets as well, especially the end customers. We hope to be part of Intersec for years to come, not just as an important trade show in the Middle East but on a global level as well.”
Axis Communications Mr. Marwan Khoury Marketing Manager
“Intersec is a specialized show and for Safran it is a good opportunity to promote the products and interact with clients. In addition, the show is also of great importance for the company’s image. This year we have met a lot of system integrators that matter to our business.”
Safran (Morpho) Mr. Julien Revel, Regional Sales Representative, Biometic Terminal
“We are very pleased and had a very good experience at the show, I came with two of my colleagues and we found our desired safety equipment products and we are going to sign a contract with our preferred manufacturers…
I was impressed with a radio system product used for communication in mobile phones. It’s a very interesting new development as it helps us to reduce cost and effort, because we don’t have to build a new setup, instead it can be build in your existing setup to create a separate communicating system.“

70% increase in total visitors from AfricaAs emerging markets go, when it comes to the safety and security industry, Africa is a continent that holds tremendous potential for growth. This was evidenced at Intersec 2014, which witnessed 70% more visitors from Africa over the previous show’s numbers.
“It is my first visit to Intersec, and I find it very well organised. I believe the exhibition is better in quality compared to other exhibitions I have visited before. It is apparent that the exhibition has also welcomed newcomers to give them the chance to introduce their products here.
We are an architecture consultancy firm, in addition to being an IT consultancy, and we are adding security consultancy to our competencies, Our main objective is to look for security solutions that will be implemented within our projects, in addition to finding suppliers or partnerships, so we can start working within the country.”

“I am not a first-time visitor, and I always visit the show. The sections are well-organised and there is easy guidance to the halls. As technology integrators, we provide CCTV, regular alarm systems etc. The thermal cameras grabbed our attention with exhibitor Flir, they are well known and the best in this technology. We were able to get some useful information from them. We believe Intersec is the largest security exhibition in the most secure country, UAE, and we will definitely come back next year.”
