Programs will be put on hold in August and some will be scaled back in preparation for
the move to the new library. There will not be any Saturday movies during the summer
and the Chick Flick will only be held in June and July. The projected move will be late
summer or early fall. Once the move is complete, normal programming will then resume
with some new programs added. June-August 2013 Volume 5, Issue 4

We are going to be changing things up at Girls
Night Out on the last Thursday of each month
at 6:30pm. Due to there not being very many
movies to choose from we are going to start
letting those in attendance choose what we
show at the next month’s movie. We are showing
“Safe Haven” on May 30th. At that one we will pro-
vide you with a current release and also give the
option of going “Old School”. There are a lot of
good Chick Flicks out there that we have never
shown that are now going to be a possibility. So put on your
thinking caps to come up with some suggestions. Once we make
a decision about what movie to show we will change it on our
newsletter calendar online as well as post flyers and have
some on the front desk at the library. Girls Night Out will be
June 27th, July 25th and August 29th. If you have any ques-
tions please contact the Flatwoods Library.
The Greenup Public Library’s
“Chick Flick” has been
steadily increasing in
attendance on the
first Thursday of
every month at
6:00pm. In June on
the 6th “Mamma Mia”
will be shown. At the
June movie the decision for July
will be made on what to show.
Due to the library move there
will not be a “Chick Flick” in Au-
gust. They will resume in Septem-
ber. If you have any questions
please contact the Greenup Li-
brary.

With the help of libraries and individuals throughout the state, country and
around the world our library card tree has filled up. We have had a great re-
sponse from everyone. We thank everyone who contributed to our effort. In all
we have 5 from other countries, 40 states and
94 Kentucky Counties. If you or someone you
know lives in or visits any of the following states
or Kentucky Counties we would really appreciate
it if you would send us or bring in a library card
from there. The states we need are: Louisiana,
Georgia, New Mexico, Delaware, Rhode Island,
Arkansas, Alaska, Idaho and Utah. The Kentucky
Counties we need are: Ballard, Carlisle, Hickman,
Livingston, Henderson, Webster, Hopkins, Todd,
Edmonson, Larue, Metcalfe, Cumberland, Taylor,
Casey, Washington, Spencer, Trimble, Harrison,
Robertson, Bourbon, Madison, Montgomery, Es-
till, Owsley, Knott and Pike. Please help us in
reaching our goal of every state and every Ken-
tucky County. If you have any questions please
contact the library.
The Flatwoods Branch has had some
wonderful volunteers these past
few months. We have had individu-
als as well as groups. The individuals
have helped us out by marking Ac-
celerated Reader books, clean out
newspapers for recycling, laminate
items for the library and make flan-
nel board stories for story hour.
One of the groups that have been
such a great help is Girl Scout
Troop 399 under the direction of
Troop leader Yetta Bauer. Yetta
and the scouts Rayna, Rozemieke &
Engelien provided volunteer time at
the library preparing our Summer
Reading Program materials and
helping with our library card tree.
We offer a very special thank you
to all of our volunteers.
The Book Club at McKell is going to
be taking a break for the summer
after their session on May 16th at
11:00am. They will resume with
their fall session beginning on the
third Thursday of August, the
15th. For more information please
contact the McKell Branch.
All of the libraries are closed on Sunday. The libraries will be closed Thursday July 4th.
