In the past one year, especiallyin the recent months, the Lordhas brought more worshipperstoGethsemaneBPC.Wewarmlywelcomeall loversofChristandHisWordtoourbelovedchurch.Ourdesireandprayer is thatallworshippers will be ministeredand will have opportunities toserve and thus be a blessing toothers for the glory of Christ.By God’s grace, Gethsemane’svarious church ministries andfellowshipgroupsarewell-placedto help all the worshippers tofulfil thosegoals. In thecomingweeks, we would publish briefintroductions and reportson the ongoing activities of

the ministries and fellowshipgroups. Please consider themand participate in whicheverministry or fellowship activitythat befits you. Many membersofthechurchattendandserveinmore than one of those churchactivities. The objective of the LionsHome Ministry is similar tothatoftheGethsemaneSeniors’Ministry. The fundamentalpurpose in our hearts is theglory of our Lord Jesus Christ.We desire and endeavour toreachouttotheelderlywiththeGospelmessageandthustoleadthem to Jesus Christ, the onlySaviourofmankind.

Every Sunday, a group ofzealous, dedicated brothersand sisters (and even children)gladly get together to serve inthe “Lions Home Ministry”.This is a Sunday afternoonministry, which reaches out totwo old folks’ homes in Bedok

and Bishan respectively. Uponreaching the homes, we wouldgather the residents togetherat the meeting room and leadthem in the singing of hymnsand spiritual songs. After thesingspiration, those who areappointed would teach God’sprecioustruths.Therewouldalsobetimesetasidetopraywiththeparticipants and to encouragethemthroughfellowship.

Manyoftheoldfolksinthosehomes are physically impaired,with some suffering also fromdementia.Theirafflictionsmakethemwearyandsad.Theyoftenstruggle to cope with theirphysical disabilities. Some ofthem have come to think oflife as futile and meaningless.In such situations, we findit a necessity and privilege

to encourage them with theknowledgeofGod’struthsintheBible, which strengthens themwith thepromisesofHis grace.Wearegladthatseveralofthemhave turned toChrist andhavebeen constantly “looking untoJesus the author andfinisherofourfaith”(Hebrews12:2a).

Despite the sometimeslaborious efforts, we find it anenormous blessing and comforttowitnessGod’sWord to thoseold folkswho are overwhelmedbytheirillhealthanddifficulties.Werejoicethat“Hegivethpowerto the faint; and to them thathave no might he increasethstrength” (Isaiah 40:29). Truly,we serve continually amongthem, Sunday after Sunday,only because of His power and

strength which He has abundantly bestoweduponus.

ItisourearnestdesirethatyouwillprayfortheGethsemaneSeniors’MinistryandtheLionsHomeMinistry.Joinustoministertothoseoldfolks as theLord enables you.Howwonderfulis theencouragement in1Corinthians15:58–“Therefore,mybelovedbrethren,beyestedfast,unmoveable, always abounding in theworkoftheLord,forasmuchasyeknowthatyourlabourisnotinvainintheLord”!MayourLord’sNamebehonouredandglorified.Amen.■

God Cares for You!Jesus asked His followers whether they

know that God would not forget even the sparrows, which are of little value. In those days, two sparrows were sold for a very low price of one farthing, which was like a few cents. Those little birds were not at all valuable in man’s eyes.

However, Jesus said that God cares even for such small, valueless creatures. Not one of those poor creatures would fall without God’s knowledge. Now, Jesus’ words tell us that our Father in heaven cares for all His creatures, both big and small. This kind of meticulous vigilance and care of God for every one of His creatures, is known as God’s providence.

Dear children, you may be small and weak. Do not worry –your Father in heaven cares for you. So fear not, rejoice in your God.
