• They are well adapted to a variety of forested areas.

• They like to eat a variety of arthropods such as ants, flies grasshoppers and beetle larvae.

• It attracts mates using “kwirr” calls and drumming. The females lay about four eggs in one day intervals. After about twelve days the eggs hatch. No mates seem to last more then one season.

In its respective food chain my organism, the red-bellied woodpecker, is near the middle. It eats a decent amount of organisms but it also gets eaten a lot.

My organism is the third organism in this food web. It eats anything smaller then it, but gets eaten by any thing larger then it.

Stream Quality Data & AnalysisStream Quality Data & Analysis

• The graph represents a very healthy stream at powdermill.

The better the stream conditions the more organisms that are going to be found in the stream you are in.

If the stream conditions are good enough to hold organisms my organism is able to eat an live.

Water Testing Data & AnalysisWater Testing Data & Analysis

• The stream is the most healthy form of water at powdermill.

• It would kill off the things that my organism eats, so it would have to leave the area.

• My organism would do well in this environment. It needs tress to nest, and there are a lot of trees at powder mill. There are also a lot of organisms for it to eat.

• The temp. at powder mill was 57 degrees Fahrenheit and the turbidity level was low.

Positive and Negative FactorsPositive and Negative Factors

•The current stream condition would be beneficial to my organism because more life would be found in the stream for my organism to eat.

•Something that would negatively affect the riparian ecosystem would be somebody littering in the stream. It would most likely kill off most of the life in the stream. A positive thing would be for another organism to be introduced to eat some of the crayfish population. We found a lot of crayfish, and crayfish are predators so they eat the other organisms. This would give my organism more food to eat.

ConclusionConclusion

•I learned about what makes a healthy ecosystem.

•I learned the organisms in a stream can tell how healthy a stream is.

• The process of cleaning a stream the natural way.
