The official name of our country is Republic of France.

The capital of France is Paris.

The population of France is 60,900,000.

The official language of France is French.

Climate In the southeast of France there is warm

weather, wet winters, hot dry summers.

In the east of France the average weather is cold winters and warm summers.

In the northeast of France they have cold winters, and mild summers, and have frequent rain.

In the southwest they have warmer and drier weather.

People

In Provence and the Mediterranean coast have houses with red clay tile roofs.

About %4 of the population don’t believe in religious beliefs, %2 are Protestants and %1 are Jewish.

French people wear traditional American clothing like we do.

People made many famous buildings here such as the Eiffel Tower.

Food And Drink

A native dish is Flammekuche, made of onions, cabbage, and whipping cream

Haute cuisine is very rare, expensive and mostly consumed on special occasions!

Borgeoise style food is simple and mostly roast lamb, crudités and fresh fruit.

Truffles are rare fungi and highly treasured.

Nouvelle cuisine is a light, delicate, visually appealing, and full of flavor.

Fish and Farming are important

resources in France.

The 1600s was a time of ambitious and powerful kings.

France suffered from economic hardships and war during World War Two and the 1920s and 1930s.

Napoleon Bonaparte crowned himself emperor of France in 1804.

From 1562 to 1593, French society was in the Civil War. The wars were fought between Catholics and Protestants.
