It is wonderful to be here with the children, our talented teachers, and very helpful staff. Our theme for this year is: Hope is the Anchor. I have thought about this for sever- al days. As a child getting ready to go back to school I would hope for a pair of new red leath- er shoes. In the 1950’s, red leather shoes were very popular! Hoping for things is something we all do, but how can it be an anchor? Our theme was taken from Hebrews 6:19, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. Reading all of Hebrews Chapter 6, we find that Jesus is the Hope! There- fore, Jesus is the Anchor! An anchor holds the boat so it won’t drift away. As Christians we know that if we do drift away our anchor (Jesus) will always welcome us back because we are forgiven. This year let our focus be on the Hope we find in the birth, life and death, and resurrection of Jesus our Anchor. “HOPE IS THE ANCHOR” Hebrews 6:17-19

From the Principal’s Pen…

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to our 118th year at Immanuel

Lutheran School. It is wonderful to be here with

the children, our talented teachers, and very

helpful staff. Our theme for this year is: Hope is

the Anchor. I have thought about this for sever-

al days. As a child getting ready to go back to

school I would hope for a pair of new red leath-

er shoes. In the 1950’s, red leather shoes were

very popular! Hoping for things is something

we all do, but how can it be an anchor?

Our theme was taken from Hebrews

6:19, “We have this

hope as an anchor

for the soul, firm and

secure. Reading all

of Hebrews Chapter

6, we find that Jesus

is the Hope! There-

fore, Jesus is the

Anchor! An anchor holds the boat so it won’t

drift away. As Christians we know that if we do

drift away our anchor (Jesus) will always

welcome us back because we are forgiven. This

year let our focus be on the Hope we find in the

birth, life and death, and resurrection of Jesus

our Anchor.

SHARING GOD’S LOVE

WITH OUR COMMUNITY

Once again, Immanuel

Lutheran School will be honoring our

police and fire departments on 9/11.

We will remember those who lost

their lives on this day.

Grades 7 & 8 will be walking

over to the Bristol Police Department

and the Bristol Fire Department

(North Main Street) to present our

thanks and “sweet stuff”.

How to Help:

We are asking children to

bring in the following items to their

teacher by Friday, September 11,

2015:

Grades K-3: Each child can

bring in several pieces of fruit

(apples, pears, grapes, etc.).

Grades 4-8: Each child can

bring in a dessert (brownies, cookies,

muffins, cereals, etc.).

Thank you, in advance, for

helping us share God’s love to those

who serve our community.

Blessings, joy and hope.

Mrs. Aszklar

CHAPEL— Our

Chapel Service is usually held on Wednesdays at 10:00 am. Par-

ents as well as guests and visitors are always wel-come to attend.

Children can bring their donations for chapel to class for their teachers to collect. The service is normally about 45 minutes.

PTO—Our PTO board is busily plan-

ning many fun activities for this school year. They are always looking for parent volunteers for their many projects and activities. Barbara Rad-cliff is the new chairperson for this year. The first all parent General PTO meeting is September 9th at 7pm in the Old School Basement.

NEWSLETTER IS DIGITAL Since most parents are computer savvy or at least try to be, the newsletter will be sent out electronical-ly. It will be published each Friday and sent out elec-tronically via email. For this reason, it is very im-portant that we have a current email address on file in the office. You many also have to watch the first weeks of school to make sure that your provider doesn’t mark the school email as spam. Most provid-ers have a way to mark a sender as safe. By taking this action, we are able to reduce the use of paper and still continue to communicate in an effective way. If for some reason your fami-ly cannot receive this email, please inform Mrs. Trina Theriault in the office (860-583-5631 or send an email to [email protected]) and she will make ar-rangements to send a printed copy home with one of your children.

BOYSCOUT NEWS: As school was ending in June, the boys from Troop 21 had just finished participating in the restoration and re-dedication of the Atwater Cannon in Terryville. School may have ended but the Troop activities carried on well into July. In June, the boys went camping at Camp Workcoeman and then participated in Beaver Day, which is a day of helping to set up the Camp for the upcoming summer camping season. Also, the Troop held a Court of Honor to recognize the boys accomplishments. Congratulations to John Duncan, Luke Fo-ley, Daniel Lauretti and Nathan Roy for earning the rank of Tenderfoot, and to Kyle Lauretti for earning the rank of First Class. Additionally, Luke Foley and Daniel Lauretti also spent many evenings in the months of May and June completing the God and Family Program, and earned the Religious Knot. In July, the Troop attended summer camp at Camp Work-coeman where each boy completed multiple merit badg-es. Two of the boys also completed the rigorous Winchester/NRA Pistol Course, qualifying as "Pro-Marksman and Sharpshooter". Troop 21 welcomes new boys aged 11 through 17 and meets every Tuesday night in the Old School Scout Room (top floor). For additional information contact Scoutmaster Mike at: [email protected] Robert Foley, ASM Troop 21

Open Registration will be at BACK

PARKING LOT ETIQUETTE

SAFETY IS THE GOAL: We want

to make sure that all of our students are safe as they arrive in the morning and leave in the afternoon . We ask that all cars move slowly through our parking lot at all times.

MORNING ARRIVAL: Any student

arriving in the morning should do so in the parking lot on the far east side (near the police station) of the school. Unless it is raining, NO car should enter through West Street or park on the North Side of the gym.

END OF THE DAY: All cars should

enter through the Kelly Street entrance on the far east side of the property and pro-ceed to the North parking lot (behind the school). Following entrance into this lot, please form a curved line with the first car parked by the gym entrance and the fol-lowing cars curved back to the Old school and then back to the play ground area. (PLEASE STAY WITH YOUR CAR) . If you want to walk your children to your car, park in the east parking lot ( the side of the police station) and walk to the back doors to meet your children. For the safety of all children, please do not park where the car line moves. Teachers will bring the students out of the building and the students will load into their car as they move forward.

Music Meeting: Thursday,

September 10th

at 7pm in the

Music Room

A meeting at 7 pm for all parents who wish to have their student enrolled in the Immanuel School Instrumental Program. Part of the meeting time will be used to set a schedule for music lessons.

COMPUTER HEADPHONES

Because our students will be using headphones in their computer classes we have purchased individual headphones for the stu-dents to use. These will be kept in individual plas-

tic bags in each classroom. Because of hy-giene consideration, we are asking each student to pay $4.00 for their purchase. This payment should be made directly to the teacher and they will turn it into the office.
