No smoking allowed!March 29, 2004Ireland became the first country to institute a ban on smoking in workplaces, under the Public Health (Tobacco) Act. The ban is strictly enforced and includes bars, restaurants, clubs, offices, public buildings, company cars, trucks, taxis and vans. Violations attract a maximum €3,000 fine, while a prison sentence can also be given at a later time.

Thomas Cranmer consecrated as Archbishop of CanterburyMarch 30, 1533Archbishop Cranmer was a leader of the English Reformation and is best remembered for his role in allowing Henry VIII’s divorce from Catherine of Aragon, which resulted in the separation of the English Church from the Catholic Church. Cranmer also wrote and compiled the first two editions of the Book of Common Prayer, still used today by the Anglican Church.

Eiffel Tower officially opensMarch 31, 1889Located on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France, the Eiffel Tower was originally built as the entrance arch for the World’s Fair in 1889. It is named after Gustave Eiffel, whose company was in charge of the project. Don’t be an April fool!April 1No one is absolutely clear on the date of its origin, but the earliest recorded association between April 1 and foolishness can be found in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales (1392). April Fools’ Day or All Fools’ Day, as it is sometimes called, gives pranksters a free pass to bust out their best tricks and practical jokes. Don’t be caught off-guard!

Tap into your inner daredevil and learn to ride a motorcycle! Motorcycle Riding Lessons are offered on Saturdays and Sundays which include learning everything you need to know about

motorcycles.

Jordan-Reu Mullings, your teacher, has been riding for 14 years and he’ll start out by teaching you the basics, telling you what everything on the bike does and just getting you familiar with the bike. By the end of lesson one, you should be riding! Unless your chicken of course...

Don’t come dressed to impress, just wear your sneakers, long jeans and a comfortable shirt (long sleeved, if you can bear the heat) and you’re ready to roll.

Lessons start April 13, and cost $2,000 for a one hour session. Call Jordan to book yours

at 422-2515.

What has been one of your best weekends? One of my best weekends was when I went to Silver Sands in Trelawny with a group of my friends to a beach house. We chilled out, drank, partied, soaked up sun on the beach, ate, it was a really nice time.

What are some of your favourite spots to eat, get a drink and/ or chill on the weekend?a. Live music: Jamnesia/Wickie Wackie - it has good vybes and is by the beach.

b. Drink: Macau - because it has a nice social vybe or Medusas. c. Eat: Pita Grill (for convenience; always open and has healthy, tasty offerings) as well as Scotchies.

If you could spend your weekend anywhere in the world where would it be and why?California, near the coast, so I could go to the beach and the tallest trees in the world (up to 115m - the Coast Redwood) on the same weekend.

What are your plans for Easter weekend?I just might spend it in a villa in Portland with some friends having an amazing time swimming.
