CCC and Performances This Fall! Back by popular demand, Kate Roseman has a lot
planned for Fall 2011 and beyond! CCC has been working hard and now they’re ready
to show off some of those chorus skills! Come join in on the learning and perform-
ance opportunities! SSPA’s CCC is a place where children and young adults can learn
about music while striving to grow and challenge themselves as individuals and as a
group. Chorus members will learn healthy singing and breathing techniques and will
perform this November and December (see dates above). Rehearsals include learning
aspects of music theory, music history, and of course, singing a wide repertoire of
music from varying genres and composers. From Broadway to Classical, Jazz to World
Music, the students will use the skills and techniques from this class to sing in any
style. No previous experience required, those with previous choir experience are en-
couraged to come and sing! Attendance is mandatory. Please see above rehearsal/
performance dates!
Performance Schedule: CCC will have performance opportunities throughout the fall /winter 2011.
CCC will open SSPA’s Fall dance show on 11/12 and will be featured guests for SSPA’s Holiday Gala
Event at SSPA 12/1! Don’t miss out on chorus and these performance opportunities! Come and learn
the joy of music, make new friends, and discover your voice in a fun and challenging environment!

Kate Roseman is a graduate of the University of Redlands where she received her Bachelors of Music Education. While at Red-lands, she had opportunities to conduct the University or Redlands Chapel Singers, the University of Redlands University Choir, and the Community Chorus of Redlands. Ms. Roseman studied at the Zoltan Kodaly Pedagogical Institute of Music in Kecskemét, Hungary, specializing in Zoltan Kodaly’s pedagogy and methodology, music history, conducting and ear training. Ms. Roseman is an active member of the California American Choral Directors Association and has worked with noted choral conductors and clini-cians including Charlene Archibeck, Henry Leck, Jo Michael Sheibe and Rollo Dilworth. Ms. Roseman is currently the Director of the Repertoire group at the Peninsula Girls Chorus in Burlingame as well as SSPA’s Choir Director.

INSTRUCTIONS: Call for appointment
Prepare 16 bars of music, be prepared to sing, accompanist provided, no a cappella or CD accompani-
ment allowed. Choose a piece of music in the style of the show but not from the show. You must bring
your sheet music for the accompanist. Bring a resume of any experience or training with headshot (picture of any kind, does not need to be
professional) attached.
Please be available for the entire callback time. Dance auditions are done during callbacks. If you are
called back come dressed & prepared to dance.
Come with your calendar and be prepared to note ALL scheduling conflicts for the entire run of rehears-
als and performances. Be prepared to fill out a conflict calendar through December 23rd 2011.
Enrollment in production class required for all actors cast. COST: $395.

DRAMA DIRECTION! New to acting or want to work on specific skills? Introducing our NEW drama track. These courses focus on individual skills essential for the growth of every actor at any level. Each session will focus on one area of acting and we’ll offer classes for ages 4-7 and 7-12, once the actor has gone through the comprehensive 2 year program they will have the skills for per-formance and success on stage! Content for the older age group is more advanced.
Actors In Action! with Christa Jensen Explore acting techniques, characterization, and movement through creative play, im-provisation, pantomime, and tableau. Actors will learn to express themselves using their body through theatre games & movement exercises.
At the end of the session perform small pieces in front of an audience. Explore the theatre process in a fun and encouraging environment!
Improv/Sketch Comedy with Natalia Luna Did you ever want to be apart of an improv troupe? Do you have a flare for com-edy? Or do you just want to learn new, fun, and silly, acting games? Then this class if for you! Based on shows like “Who’s Line is it Anyway,” and the famous comedy troupe “Second City,” this class offers students a fresh look at Comedy Sports. Learn improv games and even help compose skits through story telling. Perform the games and skits learned in class in a hilarious final performance. A great opportunity for both
seasoned actors and students who have never studied acting before. Come and be an improv star and fine tune your funny skills.
Play Production with Christa Jensen Due to popular demand, SSPA is bringing Play Production Class to the Fall for the first time ever! We’ll be doing the show One Hundred Lies! In this poignant comedy, teenager Liz Nostrand presents her life as a competition, com-plete with scoreboard and time clock. The goal of the game: To dramatize, in only 30 minutes, 100 significant lies told by and to Liz. By the final buzzer, though, we see that the most crucial lies in Liz's life are those she has told herself. Everyone who signs-up gets a part, space is limited to roles in the chosen show. *Approximately 25 hours of instruction, rehearsal and performance, one of the best values of the season! *The final production weeks meets M-Wed 10/31-11/9 3:30-5pm. Shows Wednesday 11/9 @ 7:30pm and Thursday, 11/10 @ 7:30pm. Performances will
be at Spindrift. Please note: No missed rehearsals/shows allowed these final production weeks.

Coming to Pacifica this holiday season is the vibrant classic The Wizard of Oz! The show offers many speaking parts to a wide age range. Those with music, theatre, and dance experience encouraged to audition. Open auditions will be held at SSPA for youth performers ages 8-19* on Friday, September 9 from 3-6:30pm to be accepted in the class/production. Please bring a resume of theatre experience, a snapshot/headshot, and music to sing (accompanist provided). Rehearsals will be Fridays 9/16-11/11, 3:30-6:30pm @ SSPA. SDC is a company founded almost 5 years ago, for serious dancers interested in continuing their training and passion for dance. The company explores a variety of dance disciplines while maintaining dance technique with a focus on training the well-rounded performer. Must have ballet, tap, and jazz shoes and must be prepared every week in appropriate dance attire. Attendance is mandatory. Those who have already been a part of the company, are STRONGLY encouraged to continue their dance training through SDC Prep. See advanced class benchmarks on our website www.spindriftschool.org or be assessed by a teacher at the first day of class if you think you may be in Adv SDC. All dancers must take additional classes in addition to SDC. See schedule on other page!

Exploring theatre through movement and dance! Go on Max's adventure through the forest, out at sea, and to the land of wild things where he be-comes king! The story will be told through music, dance, and acting. Each performer will be high-lighted as a character in this children's wild clas-sic! Bring your dance shoes (or bear feet), most of the story will be told through dance and move-ment. Learn basic dance and acting techniques and get ready to have a wild time!

Magical Musicals Explore the magic of musicals while singing, dancing, and acting from shows containing an aspect of Fantasy. Learn choreography and tunes from everyone's childhood favorite Peter Pan or the new Wicked, the untold story about the witches of Oz. Perform scenes from The Wiz a modern and magical rendition of the Wizard of Oz, and the magi-cal classic Beauty & the Beast. Don't miss out on this magical experience!

SSPA Welcomes Guitarist, Christopher Matthews Christopher Matthews holds a BA in music from the University of Louisville, KY. His concentration
at university was in music industry. Christopher is also well versed in computer recording applica-
tions. In college, he performed in solo student recitals and the University Guitar Ensemble all while
developing musical projects within the community.
Christopher toured the states throughout 2009 working as multi-instrumentalist for the band Days of
the New. He is currently working in the Bay Area with Ready Steady, an act that includes
Amber and Paul Oldham.
Christopher’s teaching background is primarily teaching private lessons to students of all ages at
beginning to intermediate playing levels. He has taught group lessons as well at his studio in Mom’s
Music, a local music store and educational center in Louisville.
Christopher is excited to be working with the Spindrift School of Performing Arts! He will be teach-
ing in the afterschool program and looks forward to developing the abil-
ity of young guitarists!
INTRODUCING: Spindrift Dance Instructor, Josh Ornales Josh was born and raised
in Hayward and began dancing during high school for Stage Left Dance Company. He has a Ballet
background and is currently attending San Francisco State University as a Dance Major with plans to
achieve a California State Teaching Credential. He is currently dancing for University Dance Theater
at SFSU; and as part of this company, he has had the opportunity to dance along side ODC Dance
Company members and learn and perform choreography from Brenda Way. Spindrift is pleased to
have Josh on our line-up teaching outreach as well as working alongside the core Spindrift Dance
Company instructors.

Thanksgiving Break Camp:
(ages 7-12) Exploring theatre through move-ment and dance! Go on Max's adventure through the forest, out at sea, and to the land of wild things where he be-comes king! The story will be told through music, dance, and act-ing. Each performer will be high-lighted as a character in this chil-dren's wild classic! Bring your dance shoes (or bear feet), most of the story will be told through dance and movement. Learn basic dance and acting techniques and get ready to have a wild time!
