With a bronze statue o a cowgirl greeting

you at the door and horseshoes, handsaws

and horns hanging on every square oot

o wall space, the Cowgirl Ca fits right in with the country-

    western spirit o Paso Robles.

But i you come in on a Saturday morning, you soon

see a better reason why this downtown diner is a perect

match or this town. A husband and wie in their 70s walk

in the door, skip past the line o

guests waiting to be seated and

plop down at the bar as they

might do in their own livingroom. Te pair enjoys a happy

banter with the staff as they

    wait: Yes, someone appears

to be sitting at their table. No,

theyll wait or it to open up.

On the other side o the room, a

    patron inquires about her waitresss

amily. Behind, another server can be overheard saying,

Te usual? beore nodding with a smile and buzzing off to

    the kitchen.

Te climate at Cowgirl Ca is bustling, and though

there are surely many new visitors streaming in, you get

the sense that everyone knows one another. Te service is

    riendly, down-to-earth.

Were a lot like Cheers, says Manager Beverly Bev

Henshaw with a warm smile. She has been working with

some o her staff or 26 years, 15 o them at Cowgirl Ca.

And many o their guests are just as amiliar. We have so

many returning customers, its like a amily. Some people

    come every day.

She sets down a plate filled to the brim with ried eggs,

crispy hash browns, thick bacon, and biscuits with gravy, and

its clear: whether its your first time oryour hundredth time, one bite o

    Cowgirl Cas country cooking

    will take you home.

    The ultra-modern rows

    o stark white wine

    bottles hanging in the

    Bodegas Winery tasting room window

have become iconic in downtown Paso

Robles, but what truly sets this winery

apart is its winemakers love affair

    with Spanish and Portuguese varietals.

    Bodegas owner and winemaker Dorothy

Schuler takes pride in giving these

    grapes a worthy platorm.

When I first started, everyone was

doing French varietals, said Schuler. I

wanted to do something different, and

I think we really are different than most

    o what youll find downtown.

    Te cozy tasting room, located

at 729 13th Street in downtown Paso

Robles, boasts two maps on its walls:

One o Caliornia and one o Spain.

    asters wont receive the expected

    Paso Robles GSM (Grenache Syrah

introduced to Bodegas GM, made with

The second-oldest tasting room in downtownPaso Robles, Arroyo Robles Winery is abeacon o diversity. Grapes are sourced romss the region, culminating in a range o wines. At any given

, the winery might offer up a Chardonnay, Viognier, Syrah,

Syrah, Grenache or Zinandel alongside a multitude o

bold, flavorul blends. Summer patrons will be privy to the

erys newly-released 2013 Albarino and spicy, balanced La

    empranillo, Grenache and Mourvedre blend.

Arroyo Robles asting Room Manager Brianna Shore said

l about offering something or everyone. With wines

ed rom $14 to $42 a bottle, tasters might have an easier

bringing home a souvenir, she added.

Our price point combined with the act that we make

any different varietals sets us apart, said Shore. We

ently offer a list o 17 varietals we work with in-house, and

lso offer Ros, ports and sparkling wines. We really run the

bit and provide a one-stop shop.

Te winery produces about 3,200 to 4,200 bottles per

, sourcing rom an array o area vineyards. As a amily-

ed and operated business, visitors can also expect to run

someone rom the Shore amily working behind the bar.

Arroyo Robles Wine University classes are held at the

ng room back garden, led by Shores ather and Arroyo

    es head winemaker, Bob Shore.

Shore said shes liable to give out more inormation than

In Paso Robles Wine Country, Grizzly

Russell From is a giant amongst Paso Robles winemakers. Afer putting

time in at larger wineries, From wanted to make his own wines. Herman

Story, named afer his grandather, was started to complete

Froms desire to make really great wines which showcase

the ruit and technique but arent too stylized.

Trough the wines created at Herman Story one

will connect with the purity, humor and sincerity

    delivered in each bottle.

Te amily that has been created at Herman

Story cellar is noticeable as soon as you enter the

tasting room. Warm and inviting you will eel more

like being at a party at your closest riends house

rather than a tasting room. From the great wines to

the music and even the urry tasting room attendants, all

contribute to the relaxed eeling that makes it easy to stay or a while.

With a waiting list to join Herman Storys wine club, a stop by the

downtown tasting room is one o the best opportunities to get your hands

    on a bottle or two.

    Our whole philosophy is about

At our tasting room, theres a lot o history on the walls, theres

Red wine lovers will rejoice at the act that the winery produces
