Used Grader Blades

Council are selling their used grader blades for $5 each Landholders are encouraged to purchase their requirements prior to Council disposing of the blades to a scrap metal merchant

Council have recently resolved to make the following changes to certain facilities currently available in Warralakin

that will likely affect you as landholders within the district

WARRALAKIN TIP AND OIL RECYCLING FACILITY

It has been resolved that the Warralakin Tip (unlicensed facility) will be permanently closed and rehabilitated

Rubbish tips are now heavily regulated by the Department of Environment (DoE) and the current facility would

never meet the standards required by legislation Landholders will be required to manage their own waste on their

own property The waste oil facility will also be relocated back to Westonia so landholders wanting to dispose of

oil will need to access the recycling facility located at the Westonia refuse site As alerted in the last Westonian

landholders are responsible for emptying the oil into the waste oil facility only and for the

disposal of their drums on their property

TANK STANDPIPE The current overhead water filling method at the Old Tank Standpipe is proving to be a high

risk activity with the taps locations being difficult to access Council have resolved to remove

the overhead piping with landholders required to fill their water carts from a ground level

outlet (as illustrated) This will require trucks to carry their own connector hose and camlock

fittings and possibly a pump to draw the water similar to the low flow tanks situated in the

area Council apologises for the inconvenience this may have caused

COUNCIL NEWS 26th July 2017

Ordinary Council Meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of each month Due to the Local Government Elections being held on 21 October 2017 Council resolved in its July Meeting to postpone the date of the October Council Meeting so that it may be held after the Elections

The October Ordinary Council Meeting will now be held on Thursday 26 October 2017 commencing at 330pm in Council Chambers Members of the public are welcome to attend

Local Government Elections will take place on 21 October this year with three positions on the Shire of Westonia Council being up for election If being a Shire Councillor is something that interests you it is time to start giving it a thought

Councillors represent the interests of the ratepayers and residents of the district and provide leadership and guidance to the community They facilitate communication between the community and Shire and participate in the Shirersquos decision making process
