The West German Civil Aircraft Registerfrom 1955 : Part TwentySix
Robert Swan & PeterMichael Gerhardt
Above: Pützer Elster V3 c/n 010 was reserved as DEDEZ andappeared marked as such on the Pützer stand at the ILA exhibition atHannover in May 1959. When its export to Chile fell through, it becameDECOG. (HDS)
With this instalment of the history of the West
German civil aircraft register 19551959 we move
on to aircraft which did not receive a certificate of
registration and were not entered into the
Rollenbücher. Some were reservations only;
others operated on a Permit (VorläufigerVerkehrszulassung) but were not fully registered.
For most of these aircraft details are sparse and
there are few photographs.

Above: Auster IV GALYH was reserved as DEBYW in Aug 1959. Itarrived at Frankfurt on 30 Aug 1956, sold by G.F. Fox of Greenford,Middlesex, and is seen in the TWA hangar there on 9 Sep 1956. (PMG)Above Right: GALYH parked on the grass at Frankfurt on 1 Nov1956. (PMG)Right: Two years later, the aircraft, now without registration or engine,awaiting overhaul in the TWA hangar 25 Oct 1958. It was never registered in Germany and its fate is a mystery. (PMG)
DECOZ was the first reusable general test registration to be issued bythe LBA to avoid the bureaucratic procedure of applying for a permit tofly for every production aircraft by licenced manufacturers; it was probably used on other aircraft apart from the three listed here. It is likelythat the cancellation date of August 1970 indicates the revocation of theregistration.
