From the Senior Chaplain

The promise of a new year, with all its exciting possibili-ties, should be a powerful encouragement to our faith. We serve and worship the God of healing, grace and favor. The psalmist said those who are truly blessed are the ones who have set their hearts on pilgrimage. That means a journey of faith, I’m convinced we will see the hand of God move in 2014 in ways that are far above and beyond anything we could possibly think or imagine. My prayer is that God would so fill us with the Holy Spirit that our pilgrimage as the church at Big Canoe would be one of joy and expectation.

I’m also reminded at this time of the year of Wesley’s covenant prayer. I think it’s a good prayer on a daily basis. It’s far more than some kind of religious new year’s resolu-tion. I sense that when it is prayed with a sincere and sur-rendered heart, our lives will experience God’s grace in su-pernatural and extraordinary ways. I have a copy I keep in my Bible. Let’s pray it together through 2014.

I give myself completely to you, God. Assign me to my place in your creation. Let me suffer for you. Give me the work you would have me do. Give me many tasks or have me step aside while you call others. Put me forward or humble me. Give me riches or let me live in poverty. I freely give all that I am and all that I have to you. And now, Holy God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, you are mine and I am yours. So be it. May this covenant made on earth continue for all eternity. Amen

Blessings in the New Year,

Please note:

Hearing devices are available from an usher.

The Nursery is available downstairs during the 9:00 & 10:30 am services.

Remember to turn your cell phones back on at the end of the service!
