Evaporation • When the sun heats
up water in rivers or lakes or the ocean and turns it into vapor or steam
• The water vapor or steam leaves the river, lake or ocean and goes into the air
Up we go!
QBack Next Main Circle Help Quiz Time
Condensation
• Water vapor in the air gets cold• It changes back into liquid
This is how clouds are formed!
QBack Next Main Circle Help Quiz Time
Precipitation • Precipitation occurs
when too much water is collected that the air cannot hold it anymore.
• The clouds get heavy and water falls back to the earth
• There are different forms – rain, hail, sleet or snow.
QBack Next Main Circle Help Quiz Time
Surface Runoff• When water falls back to earth as
precipitation– Could fall into oceans, lakes,
rivers or land
• If it soaks into the earth it becomes “ground water” – Plants and animals use this
“ground water” to drink
• It may run over the soil and collect in the oceans, lakes or rivers where the cycle starts ALL OVER AGAIN!
