Baronial Council Minutes
In Attendance: Stykarr, Stjarna, Dyon, Ulrik, Meghan, Arthur, Rowena, Marcia, Nicholas, Christopher, Eion, Wiliam, Rontu, Des-damona, Xarrmon, Thorgrim, Einar, Eirin, Gwen, A.J., Trenton, Maddie, Roth, Katherine, Bait, Ysabella, Viktoria Called to order by Gwen at 6:44 Approval of March Minutes: Motion Made, Second, Approved as written Old Business: Kingdom A & S: Roth reports for Mairghread: 232 People in atten-dance, 33 Non Member. $2768.00 at gate, with $78.00 worth of donations to the Barony. $99.00 NMS. Net profit $ 1008.07 minus 60% that goes to Kingdom in the amount of $604.84. Giving the Barony a profit of $ 403.23 after all expenses. Motion made to re-imburse Ulrik $83.22 for the Eric cans., second, motion carries. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event a success. Officer Reports: Baron and Baroness: Thank you to everyone who helped with A & S. Continue to receive congratulations about the event. We need recommendations for Kingdom awards as the King and Queen will be at Honor War. Reminders: Big fighter practice on the 24th. Hopping Phules ~ Baroness War coming up. Motion made for up to $100.00 to make Arm bands for the fighters who fight for Baron-ess Stjarna, Second, passed. Always accepting donations for the treasure chest. Would like to get together to make different crafts for the largess. WE need as many fighters for Baroness war as we can. Seneschal: NTR Gwen will not be here for next month. The meet-ing will be in Walla Walla. Reeve: Checking Balance had $6012.50 Savings Balance: $1439.91 Any items that need reimbursed need to get those to Roth. Armored Combat Marshall/Rapier: Practice will start in April back at Howard Amon Park.

Youth Combat Marshall: If there are any kids that would like to start practic-ing, contact Rowland and he will try and work out a schedule that works for everyone. Consider having YAC practice at Stjarna’s during the Pages meeting.
Wastekeep Archers: We will start back up when the weather is warmer.
First Aider: NTR The first aid kit is now in the trailer.
Chatelaine: With Master Ulrik's help, we have re-drafted the chatelaines' web page on the baronial website. Some of the links were broken and have now been fixed, and my contact information has been updated on the site. Please take a look and feel free to make any suggestions you think helpful. We had one new contact since I took over the office last month, and that came via email through HL Gwen (our Seneschal). As we move to the park for fighter's practice and we get our "name" out there again, I hope that local interest in the SCA will increase. I will be working closely with the Kingdom Media Deputy over the next few months to work out the kinks in what we can and cannot put "out there" for people to see. .I have downloaded the "approved" flyer and will start putting them around town in April do plan to be present at practices once they are moved to the public are of the park again. If anyone has any ideas or is contacted regarding demos, please feel free to share. I'd love to have another day-long mini-event demo in the park like we did a couple of years ago as that generated a good deal of exposure for our group. I will be attending Ambergard's War In The Oasis this weekend and will collect the Gold Key boxes from HL Ysabella and Lord Rowland at that time. If anyone is interested in serving the barony in the office of Gold Key, please contact me. (submitted report)

Pied Piper: Working on a couple projects for Springfest and Barons.
Dean of Pages: We will be holding a Pages meeting on April 19th. Please bring small food item to add to the table. They are working on favors for the pages to wear. We can always use teachers, if you would like to volunteer, contact Stjarna.

New Business: --Quorum affirmed through a vote to sell current trailer. --Identify ‘honorary citizens’ of Akornebir with certificates / mini-scrolls --New requirements for Sergeants and Stewards require: 1) to be in at-tendance at a minimum of 50% of the events, and 2) the test will be changed. --Quorum affirmed the distribution of funds for stored Canton gear. Meeting minutes for March 04, 2009 Meeting called to order at 19:04 (7:04pm)

January Minutes: Approved as amended. Officer Reports: Seneschal Lady Katherine: -- Attended City Council Meeting two weeks ago (in Garb) which was received with enthusiasm and proposed a change to the current city ordi-nance to allow for permit camping. --At the Newcomer’s encampment, there will be a list of all Waitsburg businesses. --Two copies of approved SCA brochures will be available for newcom-ers--at Newcomers. Arts and Sciences Lady Salia: --Kingdom A&S is this coming weekend! There are sign-ups to help with set up / tear down and gate. Also, on site, there will be sign-ups to student judge. They encourage people who may want to enter the com-petition in the future to student judge in order to get a feel for what is going on and how the judging process works. --There are some classes being taught at Kingdom A&S. Tamlyn of Wyntersea is teaching a scroll layout class that I highly recommend. She taught calligraphy at the Ithra in Bellingham that we attended a few weekends ago and she is an excellent teacher! --I have been bringing my class handouts collection to Fighter’s Prac-tice / A&S and have been gaining interest in them. I’ll continue to bring them to all practices that I can make. Armoured Combat Marshall Honourable Lord Ian: --No ACM attributed to A&S Championship; next ACM will occur two weeks following. --Discussing a possible rotation of sites for ACM summer gatherings. Herald Honourable Lady Solveig: --Nothing to report.

Wr Librarian: The inventory is complete, will be on the website soon. Thank you to the 5 people that showed up to help take the inventory. Also a DVD was donated with several out of print .pdf files of medieval books. Thank to Elinora for that donation.
Arts and Sciences: information filled in with kingdom A & S report.
Fools Guild: Working on the new play. Was performed at A&S, working on getting it into Greenwood and Springfest.
Ithra Chancellor: A&S was a success, the video classes were well attended. Many good teachers had good classes. Piper was a great success. Thank you to everyone who helped. If you have taken Ithra classes and do not have your information you can go on the kingdom website and get a pass-word to get into your information. The paperwork is done and everyone has been paid.
Canton Business: Newcomers is coming up, if you would like to teach a class at the event, contact Lothar, and he can set it up for you.
New Business: The kingdom would like us to do a May Crown event in Wastekeep. Ysabella has put together a bid for the event. Discussion about what needed to be added. The bid will go in and we will see how it goes. This will be for 2010 Crown.
Events:
Greenwood: The EIF has been sent to Majorie for the event, we are waiting for the go to continue. We also have emails out to the Ryders Distributers to see if we can get them directly from them. They are out of Oregon now.
Springfest: The tshirts are a go. Dyon is getting all that information and there will be an email out on the web page to order them soon.

Greetings from Baron Sir Styrkarr Jarlskald and Baroness Dagrún Stjarna,
Our people have much to celebrate. March has seen a very successful King-dom Arts & Sciences competition superbly organized and executed by our
autocrats and our populace. Our people again proved their worth to the King and Queen – we swear we spent most of our time fielding compliments regard-ing the event! Marcia’s Ithra’s and movies were enjoyed by many, the fighters had fun in the park, and all were pleasantly surprised to have food available to
help sustain them during the day. Our barony should be especially honored (though not surprised) to have had Sir Dyon presenting in the finals of the
competition.
The King and Queen were pleased to honor our populace with Kingdom-level awards: to Ysabella and Roth, we say huzzah to their induction into the order of the Goutte de Sang. These were recognitions of worth we have been aware
of for some time.
We cannot say enough about how pleased we were to witness Sir Dyon’s ele-vation to the Order of the Laurel. Dyon’s qualities of leadership, martial skill, armoring and crafting prowess, and bureaucratic mastery (inside joke), have
coupled with an untiring love for the Barony of Wastekeep and the people in it to produce a real inspiration and hero of Wastekeep. Dyon represents the best of Wastekeep so please join us in a triple huzzah for our very own triple Peer.
War is soon to come to our area. It is time to call to arms all our fighters and supporters. The Hopping Phules War/Baroness War is just around the corner. We are hopeful that all our populace will attend to support your Baroness and her fighters. A few weeks later, we will be claiming our rightful taxes from
the College of Lyonsmarche at the Honor War. The lentils will be ours!
Stjarna would like to say a special thank you to all those who came to the last Page meeting. Our Page program is up and running. Our group includes 2
Paragraphs (Svanna and Bait), 5 Page Initiates (Rontu, Wiliam, Dagny, John, and Amber Rose) and the well respected Chapter (Eion). Look for these youth to ask them what they have learned or want to learn. The parents and sponsors worked hard at this months meeting preparing the favor’s for the youth. Pages, make sure you complete your badges so that when the time arrives to have the

Please note this is a State Park so there are flushies and showers in the bath-rooms in the camp site restrooms.
Camp trailers or RVs - The C-loop does not have any RV hook-ups. If you
need/want electricity and water hook-ups these are available in the adjacent B-loop for an extra $10/night. Please contact the autocrat so that she can reserve a
spot. You will still need to goto the C-loop SCA gate to pay.
CABINS: rent for $45 per night each plus Idaho State Sales Tax. There is a $10 reservation fee. Call the McCall office at 208-630-5050 to make cabin
reservations at Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston. The one-room cabins sleep up to five on bunk beds and futons. Cook outside on the grill-covered fire pit. The cabins are powered, heated and air conditioned. Camp Cabin Amenities:
Units sleep five and are equipped with electricity, lockable windows and doors, heat and A/C. Central restrooms. Each cabin includes parking for one vehicle. Extra cars cost extra per night unless moved to the outer lot. There are 8 cabins at Hells Gate. The 4 cabins nearest Honor War are located between the B & C camp loop are Locust, Sycamore, Maple, and Pondersa (closest to the C-loop). The 3 cabins between the A & B loop are Sacajewea, Lewis and Clark (closest to the B-loop) and the furthest cabin in the middle of the A-loop is Tammany. If you end up in one of these distant cabins, then you will want to drive back
and forth between these distant cabins and Honor War in the C-loop.
PARKING: will be the same as last year. We would like to reserve parking near the C-loop out in the field for those with medical conditions, disabilities,
or smalls using car seats. We will provide a minivan at our SCA Gate that will shuttle vehicles to the outer non-fee parking lot once you have unloaded at
your camp site. If you really, really want your car close by then parking will be $5.32 extra per night ($5 + tax). Those arriving after dark on Friday night
can move their dragons out of camp on Saturday morning.

Honor War
Lyonsmarch
As the cold grip of winter slips from the lands, the College of Lyonsmarche, Lentil Capital of the Knowne World, inventories yet another year of excellent
crops. Yet jealous eyes from nearby lands take note. Baron Wastekeep plans to lead a military expedition to claim what He feels is rightfully His, including
back taxes and interest. Friendly forces, lead by Baron Wealdsmere, assemble from the north, east and south to free the College of invading tyranny. Even
Mighty King Vik and Gracious Queen Inga come from Their northern bastion to see this matter settled.
The friendly folks of Lyonsmarche invite you to the first An Tir Inlands camp-ing war of the season. Get your SCA year started off the Honor War way. The Crown is scheduled to attend. Saturday: The War, A&S Competition, artisans displaying crafts, Lentil Cooking Competition, Homebrew Competition, Pot-
luck Feast. Sunday morning: Rapier Tourney.
NEW: We will have a Target Archery Range open during the Honor War weekend. The range will be most graciously run by Daffyd de Doake who is the An Tir Kingdom Protector. He and Evrard de Valonge of Wyewood who
are both Sr TAM will be holding a Jr TAM class.

Greetings unto the populace of Wastekeep from HL Gwenhwyvar De Acland. I have enjoyed serving this great Barony as seneschal over the last two years
and sadly it is time for me to pass the hat on to a new Seneschal. I will be step-ping down at Springfest and we will welcome our new Seneschal at that time. Our noble Baron and Baroness have requested that all interested parties send a letter of interest to me, either by email or snail mail (see below for addresses) or in person. Please have these turned in to me by the April Council meeting. The council will hold a major vote regarding the new Seneschal at our May
meeting. As required by the Baronial Minor Carte, this announcement will be published in the Word for at least one month prior to the vote at the May meet-
ing. I will also be posting reminders to the Wastekeep email list throughout the next couple of weeks.
The position of Seneschal is one that requires good communication skills, both verbal and written, an ability to view situations objectively, as well as the abil-ity to memorize large amounts of information; but mostly it requires that you are willing and able to always put the best interest of the Barony ahead of all else and to abide by and enforce both kingdom and mundane law as set forth
in the Seneschal's handbook. I encourage all interested parties to read the Seneschal's handbooks at both the Kingdom and Society levels, as well as other material available on the seneschal web page available on the An Tir
website.

Hopping Phules – Baroness War
Barony of Vulcanfeldt April 3-5, 2009 Eschbach Park, Naches, WA
Long has it been since the Baronesses of AnTir gathered forces to wage war against each other. This spring they shall do so once again. So come and fight for the glory and honor of your Baroness on the war field, archery
range, rapier eric, or in the arts and sciences competition.
The Barony of Vulcanfeldt is the core producer of hops in all of AnTir! All who brew or imbibe good beer know what a valuable commodity that can be. Baroness Regina will gather her army to defend their prized crop against all
comers. The Baronesses who have banded together with the most War Points shall win a prize chest to distribute as they wish.
Sunday will feature a Baroness Champions Tourney. Each landed Baroness may sponsor two combatants to fight for her glory. The winning victor may
then present their winnings to her Excellency.
