What we seem to have here is….A failure to Communicate While Britain tried to avoid war in the US,

slow mail leads to the US declaring war on Great Britain

The war had 2 phases, one with little British Attention and the other when Britain joined the war

The US military had to begin strengthening their troops and numbers

The Navy had 16 ships and their army 7000 men

Perry Close to Home The United States started their war at

sea with quick victories with the “Constitution” and the “United States”

Oliver Hazard Perry took control of a Fleet in Lake Erie and set out to fight the British

After seeing his ship destroyed Commodore Perry took control of another ship to defeat the British

Blame Canada General Harrison looked to Attack

Britain in Detroit but they had fled to Canada

Harrison would follow Britain to Canada and defeat them in the Battle of the Thames

Britain Fighting on the Northwest was over

We’re Coming to America…TO FIGHT!! After Defeating France, Britain comes to

the US and burns the white house down before attacking Fort McHenry

Fort McHenry was held prompting Francis Scott Key to write the National Anthem

Britain then looked to cut off New England by taking Lake Champlain but failed

Snail Mail Britain looked to Capture Fort New

Orleans and sent 7500 troops to the Port

Andrew Jackson fought off the British killing 2000 men to the American's 71

Though the war had ended on December 24th, 1814, after the Treaty of Ghent, Jackson’s Victory was seen as Heroic

So who won this thing?? Though the War had no clear winner the war:

American Nationalism was increased through Patriotism

It Weakened Native American resistance

It increased the US Manufacturing Industries

America Also Proved it could defeat the Top World Power and would most likely Begin to Prosper
