MGM has just announced an additional trip! July 17 –July 24, 2010

. A Pittsburgh area team will be going to the Dominican Republican and a limited number of spots are available.

. Join Pastor Rick Waiter and Kim Costanza along with adults from the Pittsburgh area and students from Geneva College..

The trip will involve the following:

. Help work in the newly constructed farm

which will help to feed the poor .

Work with children in a Vacation Bible School setting .

Participate in light construction projects .

Visit with villagers to pray, encourage and evangelize .

Assist in soccer/basketball clinics

A Message from Brennan Gaertner White Fields Foundation-

“Harvesting what God is doing in the Burgh” .Welcome Old Friends and New Friends, It is with great thanksgiving that we greet you in the name of our Lord, Jesus. We are grateful for your partnership and support of our “Night of Inspiration” and extend a special thanks to Coach Paterno for being with us tonight and bringing a message of encouragement and inspiration. Both Leo Wisniewski (‘82) and I (‘87) played for Coach Paterno as well as Mark Battaglia (‘83) from our Board. (Mark and I were members of the ‘82 and ‘86 National Championship teams, respectively. Leo was a co-captain on the ‘81 team.) Coach impacted our lives in so many ways: faith, family, character, education and generosity; to name a few. I still set my clock 10 minutes ahead which drives my wife crazy!! Many of his former players have gathered to honor him tonight and support our work with White Fields Foundation.

Our Penn State experience was powerful. We not only learned life lessons from playing football, but, most importantly, it was the place where Leo and I started to grasp the Lord’s grace in our lives. We realized then and continue to learn that Jesus Christ is the ultimate and One True Source of all inspiration. In my final two years at PSU, I attended a small discipleship group led by Leo. By God’s grace, we have grown in friendship and walked with God in Christ. Now we serve together in our work with men and at-risk youth. This year we collaborated with Meeting God in Missions to facilitate short-term missions in the Dominican Republic for men and their families. Part of our proceeds tonight will fund scholarships for inner-city youth to attend a mission trip with MGM.

Our work would not be possible without our leadership team and volunteers serving with us. We have planned a night of great music, football stories, inspiration, and celebration of our great God! We hope you will enjoy and we pray that God will touch you in a special way. MGM short term mission trips are designed to take people out of their comfort zones; away from the phones, computers, work, family responsibilities and daily grind. The destinations are filled with people who have physical and spiritual needs and limited resources.

The satisfaction and fulfillment you feel from helping someone with genuine need must be experienced to be understood. The combination of being out of ones comfort zone and the realities of the people you are serving help short term missionaries share God’s love personally. Many experience God in a way more decisive and intimate than they ever thought possible. When people experience God in this new way they often discover God’s plan for them and find motivation and spiritual strength to work towards new found goals.

White Fields Foundation and Meeting God in Missions would like to thank Terry Losch, owner of Rapid Transit

Sports, in State College for their generous in-kind gift! They recently donated nearly 300 pairs of athletic

shoes for men, women, and children for distribution to Haitian immigrants living in the poorest conditions in the Dominican Republic. Many of these people,

including children, are without shoes. The gifted shoes from RTS will be distributed during a special MGM Spring Break trip in March with over

40 college students from Pitt and Penn State.

In-kind gifts like this one are greatly appreciated and go

directly to help meet the needs of the poor in the Dominican in many areas including: medical, optical,

construction materials, clothing, and water purification.

Christian Athlete Award Recipients

Ben Humiston was diagnosed with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy when he was 5 years old and has been confined to a wheelchair since he was 12. He is now 31 and one of the oldest living survivors of Duchenne's MD. He graduated

White Fields Foundation congratulates Tyrek & Tyrail Morgan on their outstanding achievement as recipients of our Christian Athlete Award. They are currently seniors at Oliver High School. Their faith commitment, their unselfish play in football and basketball as well as their tremendous sportsmanship displayed over the last 4 years has helped to earn them a great reputation. They both have plans to continue their education at Loch Haven State University next Fall.

About Joe Paterno

Joe Paterno is in his 60th season on the Penn State coaching staff in 2009, holding the record for most seasons for any football coach at any university. Paterno's coaching portfolio includes two National Championships (1982, 1986); five undefeated, untied teams; 22 finishes in the Top Ten of the national rankings; five AFCA Coach-of-the-Year plaques, and more than 300 former players who have signed National Football League contracts, 31 of them first-round draft choices. His teams have registered seven undefeated regular-seasons and he has had 34 teams finish in the Top 25. Penn State won the

Lambert-Meadowlands Trophy 23 times in Paterno's coaching run. Paterno is the only coach to win the four traditional New Year's Day. He was selected by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame as the first active coach to receive its Distinguished American Award. Paterno also was the 1986 Sports Illustrated "Sportsman-of-the-Year." In 2006, Paterno was named a Free Spirit honoree and recognized by The Freedom Forum at the National Press Club in D.C. In April, Paterno received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Dapper Dan and the History Makers Award from the Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center. In 2004 Paterno was selected the second-best college football coach of all-time by a panel of more than 300 media, current and former football coaches, Heisman Trophy winners and members of the College Football Hall of Fame. Paterno also was chosen the nation's best college football coach of the past 25 years by an ESPN25 expert panel. He finished No. 8 overall in the listing of college and professional coaches from all sports over the past 25 years. The American Football Coaches Association presented Paterno with its highest honor in 2002, the Amos Alonzo Stagg Award.

Paterno is highly regarded for his contributions to academic life at PSU. He often has said he measures team success not by athletic prowess but by the number of productive citizens who make a contribution to society. The 2008 NCAA Graduation Success Rate Report for Division I institutions revealed that the Penn State football program's 76% GSR was No. 2 in the nation among teams ranked in the 2008 final Associated Press poll. Paterno and his wife Sue have contributed over $4 million towards various departments and colleges, including the Penn State All-Sports Museum and the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center. Joe and Sue have five children, all of whom are Penn State graduates, and 16 grandchildren.

In 2007, Brennan Gaertner founded White Fields Foundation (WFF) with a heart to challenge men in their faith and mentor fatherless boys in inner-city Pittsburgh. Often, it is our failures that make us “ripe” for the Gospel. With desperate situations prevailing, the “harvest is ripe”; hence the name “White Fields Foundation.” Recognizing our deep need is the essence of Christian faith. Jesus said,

“Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3

Our mission is harvesting what God is doing in Pittsburgh. We are building bridges of reconciliation between men in the business community and the poor through the transformational power of the Gospel. In June 2008, WFF launched a Christian men’s ministry with the leadership of Leo Wisniewski. Its focus is to challenge men to deepen their faith commitment through strengthening marriages and families, serving the poor, and living out God’s Word in friendship. Many have been blown away by the authentic relationships, the laughs we enjoy and the teaching of God’s Word.

Men have embraced the opportunity to mentor at-risk boys in Pittsburgh’s North Side neighborhoods through sports programs and other venues. This past year we have begun sending men to the Dominican Republic as well to

serve the poor in collaboration with Meeting God in Missions.
