The Voice
of Peace
July 2019
Peace Lutheran Church
of Waterford
Dear Friends in Christ,
We wait in anticipation. But what do we wait for? It’s July and
summer finally arrived on June 21. It’s a time of rest or work, depending
on what needs to be done. I’m writing this from home on my
vacation because my deck needed rebuilding, so it is work for me!
During the Pentecost season, we wait for the time of Jesus’
return. It is the time of the church and the time of the Holy Spirit. I
pray for our LC-MS Synod Convention this month, as the work of our
church and the future of our mission and ministry together continues.
We are electing a synod president. I don’t know who that will be, but
the Lord does, and I pray the Lord’s blessing on him and his work for
God’s kingdom.
There is work to be done at our church too. Vacation Bible
School is coming up quickly, and it will soon be gone again. How
many little ones will we get the privilege to share the Good News of
Jesus? Will we have enough teachers? What needs to be done? So
many questions are asked as we get close.
We are getting the doors fixed! Thanks to funds donated by the
St. James Men’s Club and the Ladies Service Guild, it should be
completed in early July. I pray all goes well, and I thank the Lord for
the blessing. I know you will also thank Him for this needed repair.
Enjoy each day as a gift and blessing from the Lord, as we wait in
anticipation.
13 while we wait for the blessed
hope - the glorious appearing of our
great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
— Titus 2:13 (ESV)
God bless,

☩ Christian Symbol ☩
Wheat Many of Jesus’ parables liken the kingdom of heaven to wheat grow-ing abundantly in a field, as opposed to weeds planted by the evil one. When God “sows” the gospel broadly, some soil produces great crops of wheat (believers, people who become come part of God’s family); elsewhere, wheat (belief) flourishes briefly or not at all. Wheat also symbolizes Christ in with and under the bread of Holy Communion and Christ, the bread of life.
Vacation Bible School Just around the corner ~ July 15-19, 2019
We will start the day at 9:30 a.m. and finish at 12 noon. This year’s theme is PandaMania. Please be sure to invite family, friends, and neighbors. We want to reach as many as possible with the Good News that Jesus loves, cares, provides, and saves them. Please
note that walk-ins are welcome. VBS is for ages 3 — grade 6. This will be a fun-filled week with crafts, stories, snacks, games, mu-sic, and a visit from the Petting Zoo. Children will meet and make new friends, as they learn about the Bible and their Savior, Jesus Christ.
Forms for VBS Registration, Teen Helper Commitment and Interest, as well as VBS Adult Registration may be found and printed from our website, peacewaterford.org. You may also pick up forms at the church (see table in the narthex). Invite friends, family, neighbors, and strangers. Share the dates, and give them a registration
form. We look forward to sharing Jesus’ love! The week promises to be great fun for all.
Important VBS Meeting
Please note that a very important VBS meeting for all staff and helpers will be held on Tuesday, July 9 from 6:30 — 8:30 p.m. for training, set-up, and decorating. This is the most important meeting we will have beforehand, as we get ready for the week. Thank you!!!
Thank you! Pastor and Nancy wish to thank all who came to their 50th anniversary Chicken BBQ celebration and expressed congratulations in any way. Special thanks for all who helped prepare for the BBQ and make food for the meal. We appreciate and love you all! — Pastor and Nancy
