Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Jerome,

Pax Christi semper vobiscum! I would like to inform everyone that the planning

for our 125th Parish Anniversary began on the first Tuesday of February. The meeting was participated by parish leaders. They will bring ideas at the second meeting from their individual parish groups about the vision and activities that our parish might like to have after the opening Mass in September. I will keep you posted on the development of this initiative in upcoming bulletin issues.

The planning committee for the Kermes Festival for this year also began meeting last Sunday. I encourage parishioners who are willing and gifted with organizational skills to join the group for all the planning and organizational work that needs to be completed before August 2019. Please contact the Parish Office if you believe that you can contribute your gifts and talents for the success of the Kermes event. Please be reminded that our Kermes Festival is the biggest fundraiser event of our parish each year.

In addition, I would like to thank our Parish Ministers and Volunteers for their dedication and service to our ministries. Our parish Thank You Dinner this weekend is the least we could do for them to appreciate their dedication and devotion to whatever ministries they are involved with. I also want to thank the Events Committee group that organized our Valentine’s Day Dance. I appreciate the loyalty of those who came to join the party despite the unprecedented weather condition in the gym.

I will continue to remind our parishioners to please consider reading passages from the Sacred Scriptures to your family members whenever you are gathered together before the end of the day. Our bulletin has a reference of the daily Gospel reading that may be used as our guide to hear the stories and messages of Jesus each day. Our daily encounter with the Word will surely grant us the benefit of spiritual strength as well as confidence in the presence of God in our lives.

Finally, I would like to encourage everyone to please support our Annual Catholic Appeal 2019 in any way that you are able to. I am aware that I have asked you a lot already during the last several weeks for the restoration projects that we have. I hope that you remain generous in your contribution to the ministries of the Archdiocese of Chicago. See you next weekend. God bless you, each and all.

6º domingo del tiempo ordinario

Queridos feligreses y amigos de San Jerónimo, ¡Pax Christi semper vobiscum! Me gustaría informar a todos que la

planificación para nuestro 125 aniversario de la parroquia comenzó el primer martes de febrero. La reunión contó con la participación de líderes parroquiales. Ellos traerán ideas en la segunda reunión de sus grupos parroquiales individuales sobre la visión y las actividades que nuestra parroquia tendrá después de la misa de apertura en septiembre. Los mantendré informados sobre el desarrollo de esta iniciativa en los próximos números de boletines.

El comité de planificación para el Festival de Kermes para este año también comenzó a reunirse el domingo pasado. Aliento a los feligreses que están dispuestos y dotados con habilidades de organización a unirse al grupo para todo el trabajo de planificación y organización que debe completarse antes de agosto de 2019. Póngase en contacto con la Oficina Parroquial si cree que puede contribuir con sus dones y talentos para el éxito del evento de la Kermes. Recuerde que nuestro Festival de Kermes es el evento de recaudación de fondos más grande de nuestra parroquia del año.

Además, me gustaría agradecer a nuestros Ministros y Voluntarios Parroquiales por su dedicación y servicio a nuestros ministerios. Nuestra cena parroquial de agradecimiento este fin de semana es lo mínimo que podemos hacer para que ellos aprecien su dedicación y dedicación a los ministerios en los que estén involucrados. También quiero agradecer al grupo de Comité de Eventos que organizó nuestro Baile del Día de San Valentín. O Almighty, Eternal God, look upon the Face of your Son and for love of him, who is the Eternal High Priest, have

pity on your priests. Remember, O most compassionate God that they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation which is in them by the imposition of the bishop’s hands. Keep them close to you, lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation. O Jesus, I pray for your faithful and fervent priests; for your unfaithful and tepid priests; for your priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields; for your tempted priests; for the lonely and desolate priests; for your young priests; for your dying priests; for the souls of your priests in purgatory. But above all, I commend to you the priests dearest to me, the priest who baptized me, the priests who have absolved me from my sins, the priests at whose Masses I have assisted and who have offered me your Body and Blood in Holy Communion, the priests who have taught and instructed me or helped and encouraged me, and the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way. O Jesus, keep them all close to your Heart, and blesses them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen.

Songbook of Commemoration | Libro de Cantos de Conmemoración

We now have Flor y Canto parish songbooks available for our patronage at the back of the church that may be dedicated to our family intentions as well as to commemorate our faithful departed. The patronage cost of each songbook is $15. The purpose of our dedication is to remember the prayer intentions of our parish families and/or our beloved dead each time we are gathered for the Eucharist to sing God’s praises. Our shared remembrance of both the living and the dead strengthens our spiritual bond with each other. Each hymnal will have two stickers that will indicate the dedication, on the first page and on the last page of the songbook. Please make sure to indicate properly on the white sticker that you receive for your patronage of a songbook whether your dedication is intended for the living or for the †deceased. We have currently 200 Flor y Canto parish songbooks available to be dedicated for our special prayer intentions.

A partir de este mes, tendremos libros de Flor y Canto disponibles para nuestro uso en la parte posterior de la iglesia que pueden ser dedicados a nuestras intenciones familiares, así como para conmemorar a nuestros fieles difuntos. El costo de cada libro es de $15. El propósito de esto es de recordar las intenciones de oración de nuestras familias y/o nuestros queridos difuntos cada vez que nos reunimos para la Eucaristía para cantar las alabanzas de Dios. In case there are some of us who are not aware, our weekday morning Mass is celebrated at 8:15am daily. Due to many parishioners who come home from work at a later time during the week, the new schedule may give them an opportunity to intensify their Eucharistic devotion by receiving Communion daily at the morning Mass. Also, the Friday evening Mass in Spanish at 6:30pm remains in place in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. En caso de que algunos de nosotros no lo sepamos, nuestra misa matutina de lunes a viernes se celebra a las 8:15am. Debido a que muchos feligreses regresan a casa del trabajo más tarde durante la semana, el nuevo horario puede darles la oportunidad de intensificar su devoción eucarística al recibir la Comunión todos los días en la misa de la mañana. También, la misa del viernes en español a las 6:30pm permanece en su lugar en honor al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available on Friday evenings from 5:30pm – 6:30pm and on

Saturday afternoons from 4:00pm – 5:00pm. During Fridays, please use the entrance by the

Chapel of Notre Dame on Paulina Street and follow the arrow that indicates the room where

the Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated.
