Family ties

Previously on Heroes;

- We see a FLASHBACK of ANGEL waking up in a white marble room. The vampire looks

confused.

- We see the old man called ENKIL

ENKIL (v.o)

You can call me Enkil.

ILLYRIA

What kind of creature are you?

ENKIL

I am all and yet nothing. I exist in this place merely to maintain the balance between right

and wrong.

- A CLOSE UP on Angel tensing.

ANGEL

Why are we here?

ENKILYoure all here because youre dead.

(v.o)

I have the means to send you back so you can keep up with the fight against the dark forces

of evil. But there are some terms that you have to agree on before I can make this happen.

ENKIL

First of all I want you to promise me that you do everything in your power to obtain the

balance between right and wrong. Second, I need to know that Illyria will stay by your side

and that she doesnt have any attentions regarding world domination - of any sort.

- Enkil gives Illyria a furtive glance.

ENKIL

Good luck with that. And third

- A SHOT of a chagrined Angel.

And third?

ENKIL

You have to bring Spike back.

(v.o)

The dimension in which Spike exist for the moment goes by many names. It has been called

Valhalla, Walhall, Alfardaws, Assama, Falak al Aslak, Elysium, Elysian fields, Arcadia, Tien,

Olympus, Zion, Utopia, Paradise... and a name more familiar to you, Angel, and known all

over the world as - Heaven.

- We see our band of heroes coming out from the portal in the alley.

SPIKE

Its quiet. Where are all the sounds of the cars, sirens and people in general? Theres

nothing

- We see the stunned expression on Angels face.

ANGEL

Youre right

- A shot of SPIKE picking up a newspaper.

SPIKEIts dated five months after the battle!

(v.o)

The city is in ruins.

- We see GUNN lying on the couch at the HYPERION. And we hear his ragged cough.

GUNN

It warms my heart to hear you bicker like an old married couple.

- A TIGHT SHOT of a bag lying next to the couch. Gunn points at it.

GUNN

Is that for me?

- We see ILLYRIA standing at Gunns side, looking rather worried.

ILLYRIA

The half-breed and I acquired it for you, Charles. Your condition is worsening.

(v.o)

Charles is dying.

- We see Angel digging through the bag. He gives Gunn a sot of penicillin, watching the man

relax.

ANGEL (v.o)

Not yet.

- We see the blank expression on Gunns face as he lies perfectly still on the couch.

ANGEL

Gunn?

- ZOOMING IN on Angel shaking Gunns lifeless body.

ANGEL

Gunn! Gunn!

- We see a dark-haired young woman step out from a SUV.

- We see the dark-haired woman outside a door, which opens up and reveals GILES.

GILES

Aerin. Welcome to L.A.

AERIN (v.o)

A slayers last outpost.

- We see Angel fighting and hear someone applauding in the background. Its AERIN.

- A WIDE SHOT of Aerin, Giles, BUFFY, WILLOW, DAWN and ANDREW together in a

room.

- ANGLE on Angel picking up a phone.

ANGEL

Buffy.

INT. UNKNOWN CAVE - SOMEWHERE IN NEVADA - DATE AND TIME UNKNOWN

AN AIR SHOT of a STREAMING RIVER, then the CAMERA PAN DOWN, follows the river

UPSTREAM and we have a LONG SHOT of an ENTRANCE to a CAVE ahead. The CAMERA

ZOOMS IN on the cave as we get CLOSER and closer and SUDDENLY we have a WIDE

SHOT of the inside of the cave. Its a dark and hostile environment.

The CAMERA PANS FORWARD, deeper inside the cave. SUDDENLY we hear NOISES and

SOON enough we see a light further ahead. As the CAMERA gets CLOSER we see its a small

FIRE and that there are three figures sitting around it. A CLOSE UP of the fire and the three

figures reveals that they appear to be SHAMANS of some sort. Theyre clothed in black,

weather-beaten robes and their hair is long and not well groomed - to say the least. It also

appears that theyre CHANTING something in an unknown LANGUAGE.OUT OF NOWHERE a FOURTH shamans appears, and hes dragging something - or

someone behind him. As the CAMERA FOCUS on this, WE can see its a DEMON that the

shaman has chained. And a closer look reveals that its the demon that SPIKE visited in

Africa to get back his SOUL!!! (A.N: Didnt see that coming actually. It was a spur of the

moment. Or was it? I must admit that I had plans to write something similar to this - but not

in this episode. Well, well have to see how this plans out)

The CAMERA LEAVES the struggling demon and returns to the three shamans by the fire.

They keep chanting on something as they throws something on the fire, making it sparkle.

NEXT THING we hear how the chained demon ROARS in AGONY.

FADE OUT-

INT. THE HYPERION - SPIKES BEDROOM - ESTIMATED 23.00 HOURS

The CAMERA ZOOMS IN on Spikes bed, revealing the blonde vampire sleeping in it. Then

he stirs, his eyes snaps open and he sits up with a ragged moan. In general, our favorite

blonde vampire seems rather stricken by something. Could he have had a nightmare??

ILLYRIA

Your sleep cycle has been disturbed.

The CAMERA PANS ACROSS the room to reveal ILLYRIA sitting in the chair. Her eyes are

steadily locked on the newly awakened vampire.

SPIKE

(mumbling)

S just a nightmare, pet.

ILLYRIA

(tilting her head)

Another one?

(beat)

You appear to experience them a lot.

A WIDE SHOT of the room as SPIKE runs a trembling hand through his tousled hair. He lets

out a deep breath and relaxes against the pillow. And damn, he looks sexy as always!!

SPIKE

(drawing out the words)Yeah But this time it seemed different.

(pause)

I mean reallydifferent.

ILLYRIA

(gracefully getting up from the chair)

How does this nightmare separate from others?

SPIKE

Dunno. It just does.(thoughtfully)

"The subconscious is a funny old thing."

ILLYRIA

(crossing her arms)

"If your subconscious is telling something, you should do best to listen.

SPIKE

(conceding)

"You may be right there, luv."

FOCUS ON Spike as he sits up and leans against the wall. He looks over in Illyrias direction

and fires of a smile. Sooo cute

SPIKE

So, Blue Dont you ever dream?

(tilting her head to the other side)

In my former state I did not. But there are fragments Inflicted by the Burkle persona I

can not seem to stop it.

SPIKE

(curiously)

What do you dream about?

ILLYRIA

(looking away)

I can not remember.

A TIGHT SHOT of Illyria as she says that. But we get a feeling that she do remember, and

that quite well, what she dreams about. Oh, yeah, our little Smurfette has secrets!!

ILLYRIA

(wanting out of the spotlight)

What did you dream about?

SPIKE

Huh?

(beat)

Strangely I cant remember.

(shrugging)All I know it was not something good.

A CLOSE UP on Spike as he gets up from the bed with the blanket around his waist. He

appears to be heading towards the bathroom, but has only taken a few steps, when he

suddenly FALLS to the floor. He remains there - seemingly UNCONSCIOUS.

PANNING ACROSS the room to Illyria as she rushes to the vampires side and kneels down.

ILLYRIA

Spike?

(shaking his shoulder)

Spike!

INT. THE HYPERION - THE LOBBY - ESTIMATED 01.00 HOURS

ALL LIGHTS ON ANGEL, ILLYRIA and AERIN as they stand in a circle in the middle of theroom, looking from one to another.

AERIN

So, what will we do about Spike?

(beat)

I mean we cant just leave him. Right?

ANGEL

(shaking his head)

No. Someone has to stay here and watch over him.

ILLYRIA

I will stay here with Spike.

(noticing Angels knitted brow)

I am capable to watch over the half-breed.

ANGEL

Nah, dont think so, Illyria.

(turning to Aerin)How about it? Can you have a look out for him?

AERIN

No sweat. You two just go on your merry way.

(bright smile)

Say hello to Buffy from me, k?

ANGEL

Ill do that.

FOCUS ON Angel and Illyria, the later on very hesitant, as they turn their backs on Aerin

and heads to the door. We then see them from Aerins POV as they disappear from our view.

The door closes behind them and the CAMERA SPINS AROUND to show us Aerin as she

sighs and starts walking up the stairs. We follow her with a STEAD CAM as she strides down

the corridor and stops outside a door. She opens it very slowly and peeks in.

Spike?

SPIKE

(muffled)

Yeah?

A CLOSE UP on Aerin as she steps in and closes the door behind her. She walks over to the

chair (Illyrias chair!!) and sits down in it with her eyes steadily locked on the vampire.

The CAMERA PANS ACROSS the room to reveal SPIKE lying under the covers in his bed.

Oh man, he doesnt look so well.

AERIN

(carefully)

How are you? Feeling any better?

SPIKE

Just peachy.

(turning his head to her)

Have they gone? To see Buffy and the others?

AERIN

Yup. To bad we couldnt join them.

SPIKE(brief smile)

Right.

(sighing)

Maybe its for the best, heh?

AERIN

(questioning)

What do you mean?

A TIGHT SHOT of Spike as he closes his eyes and turns away his head.

SPIKE

(hoarsely)

Im saying that I wouldnt wanna be there for the happy reunion between Angel and Buffy.

CUT TO-

INT. UNKNOWN BEDROOM - SOMEWHERE IN L.A - ESTIMATED 02.00 HOURS

DOOR POV of a bedroom, with pink walls and a rather large bed under a window. The only

other furniture in the room is a bed table and a white, cosy couch. Theres a person, a female,

sitting on the bed, with her head leaning against her knees. The CAMERA ZOOMS IN on her

as she lifts her head to stare out into nothing. Its BUFFY, and we can see that there are tears

in her eyes.

SPIKE (voice over)

You listen to me. Ive been alive a bit longer than you, and dead a lot longer than that. Ive

seen things you couldnt imagine, and done things I prefer you didnt. I dont exactly have a

reputation of being a thinker. I follow my blood, which doesnt exactly rush in the direction

of my brain. So I make a lot of mistakes, a lot of wrong bloody calls. A hundred plus years,and theres only one thing Ive been sure of: you. Hey, look at me. Im not asking you for

anything. When I say, I love you, its not because I want you or because I cant have you. It

has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. Ive seen your

kindness and your strength. Ive seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with

perfect clarity exactly what you are. Youre a hell of a woman. Youre the one, Buffy.

BUFFY

(whispering)

I dont wanna be the one.

DAWN

Buffy?

The CAMERA SPINS AROUND to show us DAWN standing by the door. She studies the

expression on her sisters saddened (?) face.

DAWN

(carefully)

Are you sure that youre okay?

The CAMERA RETURNS to a WIDE SHOT of the scene, so that we get a good look on both

of the characters.

DAWN

I mean I know that it must have been a shock to hear that Spike came back and fought at

Angels side, but I didnt think that it mattered that much to you.

(beat)

I thought that you were over him. That you didnt care anymore.

BUFFY

(soft whisper)

"It matters."

(hoarsely)

"I didcare.

DAWN

(sitting down next to her sister)

But you didnt seem at all sad when you understood that Spike wouldnt come back after the

Hellmouth closed.

BUFFY

(deep breath)Because I wasn'tsad.

(shuddering)

I was happy.

(brimming eyes)

Forhim.

DAWN

What do you mean?

BUFFY(whispering)

"Back in Sunnydale, before we closed the Hellmouth I wouldn't have been able to get

through those last few days at all if it wasn't for him. And it's what he wanted. He wanted

to... to help me.

(beat)

To saveme. And he did. I finally let him, and he did."

A CLOSE UP on Buffy as she dips her head, and we can her tiny sobs coming from her. Dawn

seems unable to say anything that could make Buffy feel any better.

DAWN

(laying a hand on Buffys shoulder)

Hey Youll see him soon, remember?

(assuring smile)

And everything will be okay.

ILLYRIA

(steaming)

WILLOW

(whispering)

Fred?

FOCUS ON Illyria and WILLOW as Illyria turns around to the witch.

ILLYRIA(tilting her head)

You knew this shell?

WILLOW

(wincing)

Yes. I knew her.

BUFFY

(still pretty much single-minded)

So Whats wrong with Spike?(beat)

Hes gonna be alright?

ANGEL

We think so. But Aerin stayed behind to watch over him in case.

(noticing Buffys pouting lips)

She does seem to get along with him just great.

A TIGHT SHOT of Buffy as she pouts even more and crosses her arms. Aw, she looks so cute.

And so darn annoyed by the fact that another woman is taking care ofhervampire.

BUFFY

(muttering)

Fine. Why doesnt she just go marry him?

Er Buffy.

BUFFY

(hastily)

I know, Willow. Bad choice of words.

GILES

(nodding)

Exactly. The last thing we need is for Spike and Aerin to start plan for a wedding.

ILLYRIA

(curiously)

Wedding?

ANGEL

(explaining)

Two people making a vowel to each other. To always love and protect the other.

(beat)

You could say its a ceremony that binds one to another.

A TIGHT SHOT of Illyria as she shakes her head and hold up one hand as if to stop Angel

from saying another word.

ILLYRIA

No. Spike belongs to me now.

ANGEL

Illyria, Spikes not a pet or something you can own. Hes a being with his own free will.

FOCUS ON Illyria as she turned her back against the vampire to stare maliciously at Buffy -

who return the stare dead on. Its a battle between two strong-willed women. Go, Buffy!!

ILLYRIA

(pointing at Buffy)

Yet he once belonged to her.

ANGEL

(shaking his head)

He lovedBuffy. Thats completely different.

(calmly)

And something you cant understand, Im afraid.

ILLYRIA

(cocking her head)

He maybe loved her.

(beat)

But not anymore.

(tilting her head to the other side)

She abandoned him. Left him to die.

(coldly)

Is that what you call love?

A TIGHT SHOT of Angel as he looks at Buffy with a sad expression on his brooding face.

Guessing here that he still loves her deeply and that he will never stop loving her.

ANGEL

(honestly)Buffy had no other choice.

(furtive glance at the silent slayer)

If she had stayed she would have died with him. And Spike didnt want that. He asked her to

leave. I guess that he loved her to much to let her die there with him.

A CLOSE UP on Buffys face as tears is streaming down her cheeks. (A.N: This has been a

rather touching moment, has it not? I love the fact that Angel somehow has accepted the fact

that Buffy really did love Spike when she said that she did in the end of the Buffy episode

7.22 Chosen.)

BUFFY

Thank you, Angel.

(looking at everybody)

Hes right. Spike did all that for me. And when he did that At that moment

(beat)

I think I think I touched his soul.

WILLOW

(breathlessly)

"Wow. What was it like?"

BUFFY

Beautiful. It was beautiful

(tears coursing down her cheeks)

Hewas beautiful.

ACT I IINT. THE HYPERION - SPIKES BEDROOM - ESTIMATED 03.00 HOURS

ALL LIGHT ON SPIKE and AERIN, sitting on Spikes bed in the dark room. The night lampis lit and sends out the usual flickering light, making funny shadows on the walls. FOCUS ON

the two people on the bed as they seem to be deep in conversation with each other. It looks

to be a rather intense moment and arent we just dying to find out exactly what theyre

talking about?

AERIN

(silently)

I need to know.

(looking lost)

Do you still lover her?

SPIKE

(furrowed brow)

What?

AERIN

(calmly)

Buffy. Do you still love her?

SPIKE

(shaking his head)

I dont know. I guess I do.

(noticing her expression)

I will always love her. But I am not in lovewith her.

AERIN

You got your soul back because of her.

A CLOSE UP on Spike as he carefully extends a hand and places it on Aerins cheek. Wecould almost see the tender expression on his beautiful face. He looks her deeply in the eyes.

SPIKE

I did. And I cant be grateful enough for that. But that doesnt mean that I cant love another

one instead Cause I think I do.

INT. A DARK CEMETERY - DOWNTOWN L.A - ESTIMATED 03.30 HOURS

A CLOSE UP on a tombstone. We can see the inscription: Jenny Tourrant. A beloved mother.

A devoted wife. A cherished daughter. May she rest in peace.

The CAMERA PULLS BACK to a wide shot the cemetery, and thus revealing BUFFY, GILES,

DAWN, ANDREW, ANGEL, ILLYRIA, and WILLOW.

FOCUS ON Buffy as she stands by the tomb, seemingly waiting for something.

WILLOW

(impatiently)

Geez. Weve been waiting like forever, Buffy. Are you sure this is the right grave?

BUFFY(nodding)

Quite sure.

ILLYRIA

(longing)

Is there a purpose to this mission? We havent killed anything yet.

BUFFY

(rolling her eyes)

Bepatient.

ANGLE ON the grave as the soil starts to uncover and a hand burst up from its depths.

BUFFY

(triumphant)

Ah!

We see Buffy reach for her stake and prepare herself for the kill as the vampire crawls up

from the dirt. The fledging looks rather dizzy, but theres a surprised glint in his eyes as he

notices the tiny female with a wooden stake in her hand. Buffy starts to swing down the

stake, but misses her target as he is snapped right in front of her eyes.

BUFFY

(turning to Illyria)

Hey! That was my kill!

ILLYRIA

(twisting the vampires head off)

Your methods are inadequate.

BUFFY

(gritting her teeth)

Inadequate my ass.

ILLYRIA

(tilting her head)

You do not approve?

WILLOW

(nervous laugh)

Hey, guys Why cant we all be friends?

BUFFY

(walking off)

Whatever.

ANGEL

(running after her)

Buffy, wait!

FOCUS ON Buffy and Angel as they walk side by side. We can see Angel cast a furtive glanceat Buffy - which she ignores, and then Buffy do the same to Angel - which he doesnt notice.

BUFFY

(casually)

So How have you been?

ANGEL

Not bad.

(sighing)

Between Spike coming back and haunting us, getting my ass kicked by him

(clearing his throat)

which was kind of embarrassing. Losing about everyone that I care about

(whispering)

Having to ask Spike give up his rightful place in heaven.

(shell-shocked)

Oh.

ANGEL

(looking up at the stars)

About Spike

(eying Buffy)

Do you love him?

BUFFY

(cringing)

I did.

(beat)

I do.(shrugging)

What can I say. I got a thing for vampires.

ANGEL

BUFFY

(focusing on something ahead)

Giles?

ANGLE ON Buffy as she follows Giless gaze to where Illyria had been standing. We see that

standing there now is a slender girl with long brown hair.

GILES

(walking up to the girl)

What are you doing, Highness?

ILLYRIA/FRED

(sweat smile)

I thought those nasty old vampires might find me a tastier snack.

GILES

(doubtfully)

So youre acting as bait, then?

(catchy)

Sure am!

(winking)

What ya think?

ANGEL

(chagrined)

Ill rather wish you could turn back to being yourself.

(stern voice)

Immediately

ILLYRIA/FRED

(blankly)

As you wish.

A CLOSE UP on Buffy as she watches in surprise as Illyrias entire demeanour changes back

to the Illyria shed first met - and the Illyria WE are more used to. (A.N: Just love the way

how Amy Acker portraits these two characters so differently. It really shows that she can do

more then just smile and act all sweat and lovable.)

BUFFY

(dumbfounded)

Wow.

GILES

(cleaning his glasses)

Ill say

WILLOW

(chastened)

Oh my goddess

DAWN

(voice breaking)

Holy

(noticing Buffys look)

Oh my god?

ANDREW

That was so cool!!

(gloating)

It is rather impressive.

(peering towards Angel)

Spike does not react as you do.

FOCUS ON Angel as he grits his teeth and turn his back on her. We follow him with a

STEAD CAM as he starts to walk away from the scene.

ANGEL

(over his shoulder)

Spike didnt know Fred as well as I did.

BUFFY

(yelling)Wait for me!!

(coming into our view)

It really hurt you to see her like that, didnt it?

ANGEL

(writhing)

Yeah.

(contemplating)

Fred was the sweetest, most innocent girl I ever meet.

(beat)Knowing that shes dead, that Illyria killed her It hurts more than I can say, Buffy.

BUFFY

(laying a hand on his shoulder)

I am really sorry.

(returning to be a bit single-minded)

She said that Spike didnt react as you did? Does it mean that she has done this in front of

him as well?

ANGEL

I guess.

(peering at her)

You miss him, right?

BUFFY

Yeah. But Ill see him soon enough.

(beat)

This thing with Aerin

(holding her breath)

You say that they spend a lot of time with each other?

A WIDE SHOT of the scene, revealing the two of them walking side by side, just passing a

statue of an angel. (Angel, angel) although the CAMERA doesnt show us a CLOSE UP of

the couple, we can kind of see the peeved expression in Angels face.

ANGEL

Yeah. There was something between them the moment they meet. I stumbled upon her,

brought her to the Hyperion and there was Spike - shirtless. Some drivelling and trading of

hostile remarks and then they were pretty much fascinated by the other.

BUFFY

(forced smile)

Slayer fetish?

ANGEL

Im sorry, Buffy.

FADE OUT-

CUT TO-

INT. THE HYPERION - SPIKES BEDROOM - ESTIMATED 04.00 HOURS

The CAMERA ZOOMS IN on SPIKE and AERIN sitting opposite the other on the vampires

bed. They look like theyre enjoying there time together - even tough Spike really doesnt

look well.

AERIN

(curiously)

What were you like? I mean before you were sired?

SPIKE

(elusively)

That is not important.

(smiling)

What matters are that you make me wanna be a better man.

(contemplating)

You are. A good man, I think.

(beat)

I didnt know you before.

SPIKE

(reluctant)

I was a good man. Before Dru sired me.

(noticing Aerins begging expression)

I was a poet.

AERIN

(surprised)

A poet? Really?(giving him a look)

Never wouldve guessed.

SPIKE

(rasping)

Told you it was not important.

AERIN

Were you any good?

SPIKE

Nah.

(contempt)

Thats how I got my nickname; William the Bloody.

(beat)

Cause of my bloody awful poetry.

AERIN

(kissing his forehead)

It cant have been thatbad.

A CLOSE UP on the two of them as their eyes locks and we see how Spike slowly leans in, as

if hes just about to kiss Aerin. And she seems to be waiting for that to happen. They are just a

whisper away from each other and if we look closely we can see the heat in Spikes eyes - as

well in Aerins. Oh yeah, they are so up with the smooches.

SUDDENLY we hear a NOISE outside the door and our two heroes turn their head against it.

(tensing)

Did you hear that?

SPIKE

I might be a little bit singed, but not thatsinged. f course I heard that..

AERIN

(getting up)

Stay here while Ill check it out.

A CLOSE UP on Spikes face, revealing a rather odd expression on his features. Its like his

vampire senses are telling him that theres something terrible wrong with the whole thing.

SPIKE(voice breaking)

Aerin Get away from the door

AERIN

What?

The CAMERA ZOOMS IN on the door as it bursts open with incredulous force, making

Aerin - who stood only a feet away, fly across the room, hit the wall and pass out.

We FOCUS ON the door and see a slender female sauntering in. Its DRUSILLA!!! (Did

anyone see THAT coming??)

DRUSILLA

(clicking her tongue)

Naughty me.

(looking down at the slayer)

I hurt the filthy slayer.

(glancing towards Spike)

Bad, bad

FOCUS ON Drusilla as she approaches Spike. The blonde vampire stirs and tries to sit up -

but fails miserably.

SPIKE

(shaking his head)

No!

(trying to push Drusilla away)

No, please.

TIGHT SHOT of Drusilla as her eyes narrow. She seems to realize that Spike wont give in to

her that easily this time. She pulls back.

The CAMERA PULLS BACK to a wide shot of the room, revealing all three characters in

play. Aerin is still lying seemingly unconscious on the floor, Spikes pressed up against the

wall and Drusilla is hovering above him like a dark angel of death.

DRUSILLA

(sternly)

Hush now, look at me.

(moving one hand in front of his eyes)

Look into Mummys eyes.

A CLOSE UP on Spike as he tries to avoid her eyes but he fails. Slowly, his expression goes

slack and the pain in his eyes recedes. We see how Drusilla runs a hand through his curls and

get a feeling that shes saddened by the state in which Spikes in. (Poor Spike.)

DRUSILLA

I have a place for you to go, a dark place.

(stroking his cheek)

The CAMERA ZOOMS IN on the door as it creeks open and ANGEL steps in, soon followedby GILES, DAWN, ANDREW, WILLOW, ILLYRIA and last BUFFY. The dark-haired

vampire cast a glance around the lobby and seems to pick up on something as his nose

wrinkles.

ANGEL

(hesitantly)

Hello? Spike? Aerin?

(beat)

The CAMERA PANS ACROSS the lobby to show us AERIN slowly coming down the stairs.

Its obvious to anyone watching that shes not in her best shape.

ANGEL

(distressed)

What happened to you?

AERIN

(grudging)

Drusilla.


She has taken Spike.

BUFFY

(looking peeved)

Say what?

ANGLE ON Illyria as she steps forward and let her eyes dart from person to person. Its clear

that she does not really know whats going on, but that she has picked up on the importance

of the situation.

Who is this Drusilla?

A CLOSE UP on Angel as he twitches before everyones eyes. Yeah, he could feel a little bit

uncomfortable with the explaining. After all, hewas the one who sired Dru in the first place.

ANGEL

(looking away)

shes Spikes sire.

GILES

(rubbing his nose)And now she has come to claim him back.

ILLYRIA

(as a matter of fact)

Ill find this Drusilla, make her beg before my feet, and then Ill rip out her spine and use it

as a necklace, flaunting it to everyone so that they know what happens to those who anger

me. Then Ill tear her apart and scatter her pieces over the world

FOCUS ON Buffy as she gives the old one an incredulous look. (A.N: The tension between

Illyria and Buffy keeps on growing like a thunderstorm. It could be rather fun to see how thewhole thing develops in to maybe a blossoming catfight? Or is that too much???)

BUFFY

Hello! Drusillas a vampire. Shell be dust before you can scatter her over the world.

(shaking her head)

CAMERA STILL FOCUSED on the two of them as their heads turn to one and other, as they

speak in unison yet again.

INT. UNKNOWN ALLEY - DOWNTOWN L.A - ESTIMATED 06.00 HOURS

A ROOFTOP SHOT of an alley, revealing someone walking with definite stride. Its ILLYRIA

- we recognize her leather outfit and the grace which she moves with. The CAMERA PANS

DOWN to a CLOSE UP of our little Smurfette as she comes to a halt and snaps her head in a

jerky way to the left. We now see things from Illyrias POV, and what is revealed to us is a

street - seemingly abandoned. This is not surprising since L.As still deserted and mostly inruins. Then a shadow skitters past our view and Illyrias eyes seems to narrow. The CAMERA

PANS FORWARD to a WIDE SHOT of the street - which we thought was abandoned, as

Illyria steps out from the shadows of the alley. We can actually see that theres some activity

going on; there are in fact DEMONS walking down the street. One of them stops in front of

Illyria and gives her a curious stare. (A.N: This demon kind of resembles a human in posture,

but his skin is lilac and he has three eyes, the third one is located in the back of his head and

he has fours sets of arms.)

DEMON

You ooze power, blue one.

(squinting)Who are you?

ILLYRIA

(blankly)

Do you know where I can find Drusilla the vampire?

(beat)

Shes taken something that belongs to me.

DEMON

(shaking his lilac head)

No. Im sorry, I have not.

ILLYRIA

Then you have no use.

(twisting his head off)

Vermin.

A WIDE SHOT of the scene shows us that all present demons have stopped in their paths to

witness the events playing before their eyes and that they look rather horrified. Illyria

ignores them and starts to walk down the street, eyes directed straight forward, as ragged

demons skittered out of her way to avoid being stepped on as she continued her single-

minded quest.

INT. UNKNOWN STREET - DOWNTOWN L.A - ESTIMATED 07.00 HOURS

We follow AERIN and BUFFY with a STEAD CAM as they walk down an empty street. The

two women seem to asses one and another in secret, as they keep giving each other furtive

glances, with one looking away as soon as the other notices this.

BUFFY

(inquiringly)

(deep breath)

When you asked me all that stuff about Spike before - at the office Were you trying to get

a feel on if it was alright to make a move on him?

AERIN

(straight forwardly)Yes.

BUFFY

(dumbfounded)

BUFFY

(clenching her fists)

A TIGHT SHOT of our two heroines as they come to a stop and size each other up. The

slender, petite blonde-haired Buffy meets the taller and darker slayers gaze. Oh, could it be a

catfight in the making? Girl against girl. Slayer vs. slayer.

BUFFY

(Damn it!!! Eh he he he Obviously no catfight here. And thats a good thing. Absolutely)

AERIN

(sincerely)

(whispering)

INT. THE HYPERION - THE LOBBY - ESTIMATED 09.00 HOURS

A WIDE SHOT of the lobby reveals three figures sitting in different places. GILES sits in a

raggedy chair, and facing the two sitting on the couch; WILLOW and DAWN. All three of

them looks rather tired, but none of them makes a motion to get upstairs for some rest. Andwe can only assume, at this point, that ANGELS not present because hes resting.

GILES

(contemplating)

This thing with Spike and Drusilla It worries me.

WILLOW

You think shes gonna do something to him?

DAWN

(distressed)

What could she do?

(blinking)

I mean Spikes one of the good guys now.

(beat)

I cant really say what kind of manvampire Spike is these days.

BUFFY

The CAMERA PANS ACROSS the room so that we can see BUFFY stand by the door and

look at then with weary eyes. Were guessing that she and Aerin didnt find Spike.

WILLOW

(troubled)

Are you alright, Buffy?

BUFFY(walking further in)

Im fine.

(looking around)

Wheres Angel?

DAWN

Hes resting. He thought that he maybe could help out after the sun has set. You know; pick

up a scent or something?

BUFFY(shrugging)

S great. Meanwhile Spikes in danger.

A CLOSE UP on her face as she closes her eyes and moves her shoulders as if to relax them. It

seems that our Buffy has some tension going on there.

GILES

You might need some rest too, Buffy.

BUFFY

(opening her eyes)

Not until Ive found Spike.

DAWN

(sternly)

Youll do better if you rested a bit.

The CAMERA ZOOMS IN on BUFFY sitting on her bed with her head leaning against her

knees and a pained expression on her face. She sighs a little and really looks tired, but yet sheseems not willing to lie down and get some rest. A rest she probably needs.

BUFFY

Spike

SPIKE

Thats my name.

(beat)

Dont wear it out.

We see Buffy snapping her head in the direction of the voice and theres SPIKE - standing in

her doorway and looking as good as ever, with that smirk on his face and a lifted eyebrow.

The CAMERA FOCUS on Buffy as she tumbles out of bed and races across the floor so that

she can finally throw herself into his waiting arms. Spike catches her and folds his arms

around her while burying his face in her cascading hair.

SPIKE

(muffled)

Buffy, luv

BUFFY

Oh my god. I was so afraid that I had lost you again.

(looking up at him)

That I had lost you without ever seeing you.

(shaking her head)

Why didnt you tell me that you were alive?

(hesitant smile)

Maybe I thought that you would slap me around if I did?

(receiving a punch)

Ow. There you see.

BUFFY

A CLOSE UP of the two of them as Spike effortlessly lifts her up in his arms and carries her to

the bed, where he gently sits down with her in his lap and her arms around his neck. Buffy

looks at the blonde vampire as if she cant believe her eyes. (Neither can we. How the hell did

Spike manage to escape from Drusilla? And wouldnt we like to know what has happened to

him during the time hes been gone?)

SPIKE

(caressing her hair)

Ive missed you, pet.

BUFFY

(star eyed)

How did you escape from Drusilla?

SPIKE

I killed her. As soon as Ive freed myself I broke of a leg from a chair and ran it through herheart. Shes dead, luv.

BUFFY

Im sorry, Spike. I know what she meant to you.

SPIKE

(sad smile)

Thats okay, Buffy. I had to do it.

(pressing his cheek against her cheek)

I had to come back. Cause I realized something while Dru held me prisoner.

BUFFY

(curiously)

A TIGHT SHOT of Spike as he pulls back to look down at Buffy with shimmering eyes. He

lifts a hand and press it against her cheek as he draws her face closer to him as if hes about to

kiss her. We can see the longing look on the slayers face.

SPIKE

I realized that I had to get back here, to you.

(bright smile)

So that I could tell you

BUFFY

Tell me what?

The CAMERA FOLLOWS Spike as he lifts her off his knee and gets up from the bed. He

starts pacing back and forth, stopping to look at her once in a while. Its clear that he has

something very important to say to her. Finally he stops and stays still. He looks down atBuffy who looks up at him with questioning eyes.

SPIKE

That I....I love.

(his words are cut short by the gasp of air that escapes his lips)

BUFFY

(whispering)

Spike?

ANGLE ON Spike and the pained look on his face as he reaches for her.

SPIKE

(choking)

Buffy

FOCUS ON Buffy as she stares at the blonde vampire with wide eyes as she reaches out to

grab him. But she cant get a hold on him - because, in front of our eyes, Spike dissolves into

ASHES. Ashes that sift through Buffys fingers.

A CLOSE UP on Buffys face as tears fall from her eyes when she looks down at the remains

of her ex-lover. We see her falling to her knees and running her hands through his ashes.

BUFFY

Spike.

(hoarsely)

Spike oh god,.... Spike...come back please come back.

My dark prince thought he could get away.


The stars were angry at him. Told me he was mine.

(eyes glittering)

The CAMERA ZOOMS IN on Drusilla standing over Buffy.

DRUSILLA

BUFFY

(clenching her fists)

You killed him.

DRUSILLA

(pointing at Buffy)

No. You killed him. Filthy slayer.

(crying)

You killed my Spike.

ANGLE ON Buffy as she looks down and to our surprise we see a STAKE in her hands. A

stake that wasnt there just a few seconds ago. Then we see how Buffy lifts her gaze and cries

out:

BUFFY

Spike!!!

A WHITE FLASH. Then the CAMERA ZOOMING IN on Buffy as she jolts up from the bed,

cold sweating and panting frenetically.

BUFFY

(panicked)

A dream. It was just a dream.

A CLOSE UP on Buffy as she buries her face in her hands. We can see her shoulders moving

and the muffles sobs. (Poor Buffy. But at least we know now that it had only been a dream.

Spike could very much, and likely, be alive.)

A WIDE SHOT of the scene, revealing seven figures walking down an empty street. As theycome closer we see that its ANGEL, AERIN and GILES in the front and walking just a few

steps behind them are BUFFY, WILLOW, DAWN and ANDREW.

BUFFY

(impatiently)

Are you surethis is the right way?

ANGEL

(growling)

Im sure. I can pick up their scent.

BUFFY

Eww. Didnt I tell you what I think about the whole vampire smell thing?

We do her a tiny NOISE and the CAMERA ZOOMS IN on a MOUSE running over the street,

in front of our heroes. The CAMERA PANS UP to show us a CLOSE UP ON Buffys face. Shedoesnt look very impressed.

We follow BUFFY with a STEAD CAM as she enters a dark alley. It seems that shes alone

and we can only assume that its by her own choice. She kicks a rock out of the way, sighing.

(beat)And everyone that will become his exes.

(hesitation)

WHISPERING VOICE

Now, now, such rage. Cant be good. Cant be right.

FOCUS on Buffy as she swirls around so that she ends up face to face with DRUSILLA, who

slowly appears from the shadows. The dark vampire studies the slayer with glistening eyes.

We see Buffy tensing and how she reaches for her stake that she has put in her waistline.

BUFFY

something there. Then she lowers her head and stares at the agitated slayer.

I wish Id killed you long ago.

DRUSILLA

(smiling)

A TIGHT SHOT of Buffys face as she (and we) recognize the words spoken by SPIKE to

Buffy at the Hellmouth after Buffy told the blonde vampire that she loved him.

The CAMERA PULLS BACK to show us Drusilla circulates around the frozen slayer. Then

she melts in with the shadows again and disappears out of sight, all the while Buffys in a

almost catatonic state.

ANGEL

(appearing in sight)

Buffy? Are you alright?

The CAMERA ZOOMS IN on SPIKE lying half naked on a marble table. He seems to still beunconscious and CHAINED up. But as we FOCUS on the blonde vampire, he stirs and the

eyes snaps open to show us the confusion in them.

Suddenly we hear a NOISE and the CAMERA PANS ACROSS the room to reveal DRUSILLA

in the shadows.

DRUSILLA

(dancing over to Spike)

My lovers awake.

(running her fingers through his hair)

My sweet boy(pulling his head back, hard)

Trust me, Spike.

SPIKE

Dru

DRUSILLA

(whispering in his ear)

Im going to get my Spike back pure. No filthy soul within. No Slayer in his heart.

ALL LIGHT on the two of them as Drusilla leans in. She kisses Spike, grinds her mouth

against his and splitting his lip. When blood wells from the cut, she cooed softly and licks it

away.

SPIKE

(turning his head to the side)

Stop it, Dru.

A TIGHT SHOT of Drusilla as her face falls, and she sniffles.

DRUSILLA

"My sweet, aren't you pleased to see me?"


My little Spike burnt in the Hellmouth by that nasty Slayer."

(running a sharp nail along his cheek, making him bleed)

"I couldn't help you then, the stars wouldn't let me. I can now, my darling. It'll be perfect. It

will be as it should be."

(licking the blood off)

(cringing)

DRUSILLA

Early one morning, just as the sun was rising

A TIGHT SHOT of them as Drusilla starts to unbutton her black dress. She casts her headback, making her mane of hair dance around her face. She moves gracefully over Spike. But

the blonde vampire does not seem to appreciate her obvious intentions of sex. He wriggles

under her, but is stopped by the chains. He growls.

DRUSILLA

(biting him in the neck, drawing blood)

Im sorry. Im a wicked, wicked girl.

INT. GILESS HEADQUARTERS - BUFFYS BEDROOM - ESTIMATED 22.00 HOURS

We see BUFFY sitting on the sofa with her head turned to the window. Its open and lets in a

soft breeze that plays with her loose hair, whisking it around her face.

SPIKE (v.o)

I know youll never love me. I know that Im a monster. But you treat me as a man. And

thats Get your stuff. Ill be here.

BUFFY

(sniffling)

WILLOW

ANGLE ON WILLOW as she hesitantly walks into the room, followed by DAWN. The two

of them approach Buffy and sits down on the bedside.

And kidnapped by Drusilla.

BUFFY

(grim look)

ANDREW

(apologetically)

He asked me not to.

(beat)

Besides You were with the Immortal then.

A CLOSE UP on Buffys face. She looks flabbergasted to say the least.

BUFFY

(caught off guard)

ANDREW

(shaking his head)

Didnt have to. He saw it with his own eyes.

walls. Its the shamans - and they are surrounding the table, where Spike lies chained. (What
