A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Technology.

It’s how we communicate nowadays and Sterling Village is

keeping up with the times by sharing information online via

our website and facebook, via the lobby television, and also

via mobile access on your cell phone.

Staying connected at all stages in life gets harder as we age.

Our new program, LifeShare, offers families members of all

ages various resources to stay connected with their

loved one’s. By accessing the free LifeShare mobile app,

families can see everything from what activities are being

organized to what the daily menu is. This is the same

information that is broadcast on the TV in the main lobby.

With this, visitors and residents are able to stay informed

through a running slideshow on the TV. This slideshow

displays daily menus, activities, announcements, pictures, and

more. In the future, we will have more TV’s in different

locations thought the building with even more information.

We hope you find this new program to be engaging and

informative and we hope that you will take advantage of the

free mobile app. Instructions are provided in this issue and

there are also instructions available at the front desk.

Respectfully,

RACHEL MACADO RESIDENT COUNCIL NEWS

A “Resident Council” is an independent, organized group of people

living in a long term care facility that meets on a regular basis to discuss

concerns, develop suggestions on improving services or resolve

differences in their home. Every Resident Council is different, due to differences in both the

residents who participate and in the support from the facility. Usually residents who are able

to, speak up for those who cannot.

Resident Councils are important for many reasons. They have become more recognized

for the important contributions that residents make when given the opportunity to speak for

themselves. They provide a forum for residents to:

Voice their concerns directly to invited staff

Hold the facility accountable

Identify problems and their solutions from the residents’ perspective

Allow residents to recognize staff they feel deserving of recognition

Open up discussion on topics of interest to residents

Suggest and plan activities

Contributes to shaping their world

The Sterling Village Resident Council is moderated by our Activities Director, Joy

Stockwell and is attended regularly by Ombudsman, Bob Cote. The President of the Resident

Council is Thelma Martin and Vice President is Dorothy Knight, both of whom are serving

one year terms having been elected by their peers. The next monthly meeting is scheduled

for July 26th

at 2pm in the Activity Room.
