O ne of our residents was talking with me about another resident who had passed away. She recalled his humor and shared a funny story that had stayed with her. One of our residents was talking with me about another resident who had passed away. She recalled his humor and shared a funny story that had stayed with her. She spoke of the times he had prayed with her and the impact of his ministry on not just her, but her family as well. She paused for a moment, looked out

the window, and with a little break in her voice said, “That guy left an imprint on my heart.”

I remember the impact those words had on me as I thought of all of the people in my life who have made an impact. People who have made my life richer and fuller…people who changed my life…people who left an imprint on my heart. I also wondered had I left an imprint on any hearts?

Though many people have left their mark, there is One who guards our heart. It is His imprint that I want above all others.

I love the words of this old hymn;

On My Heart Imprint Your ImageOn my heart imprint your image,

Blessed Jesus, king of grace,That life’s riches, cares, and pleasures

Never may your work erase;Let the clear inscription be:

Jesus, crucified for me,Is my life, my hope’s foundation,

And my glory and salvation!

As we carry Christ in our hearts may we leave His, and our, imprint in the hearts of those who cross our path.

Due to some ongoing staff changes, and other challenges, we have been delayed in publishing the Village Voice and acknowledging many memorials and special gifts. Please accept our apologies as we know with the passing of time, there have continued to be changes with our residents, families and friends. We just wanted to be sure we publically acknowledged and recognized each gift. Hopefully this special issue will bring us up to date and back on track with publication of the Voice.

Since the beginning of the Village, the Benevolent Fund has been

a lifeline for faithful servants of God who have dedicate their life to ministry or a help to those who have depleted their resources. Since the Village has never been an “endowment community,” the Benevolent Fund has only existed through the generosity of those who

want to “lighten the burden of another.” Donations have come in so many different ways! People have designated WCV to be used as a memorial or to honor a special person or event, others have listed us in their will, set up an ongoing donation stream through a foundation, or simply made a donation with cash or a check. Several have donated furniture or other items which we have been able to sell and direct the proceeds toward the Benevolent Fund. Some have used appreciated securities, set up a life

insurance policy, created an annuity, made a direct gift from an IRA or other retirement plan, or donated to a specific project…all unique ways to make a donation…and the list goes on.

In 2015, WCV provided more than $229,000 in direct Benevolent Care and we are always looking for those who would be able and willing to support our Benevolent Fund. Please know that all gifts…large or small…make a huge difference.
