First, I hope you are all staying warm in this cold, cold weather. Spring is just around the corner; hang in there! We have just completed our 8th week of confirmation and are halfway through our study! It has been a joy to engage with the young people of our church and watch them grow in faith and knowledge along the way. Thank you all for your attendance and contribution to the youth talent show. We truly have some amazingly talented young people within our community. Your continued support means so much and your love for these young persons is evident. As many of you know, I have spent the last week in St. Louis with United Methodist from around the world for our special session of General Conference. The body voted to pass the Traditionalist plan which upholds and strengthens the denominations stance on human sexuality. Talking with many of you, I know there is hurt and pain which stems from this decision. Much is still unknown as to what this means for our church. But make no mistake about it, Village UMC will continue to be a church that welcomes ALL people with open and loving arms. Please join me in prayer for our brothers and sisters in the LGBTQIA+ community. May God’s love and grace be made known to you this day. -Pastor Jay

Greetings church!

We will be experimenting a bit in 2019. Do I know what exactly that will look like? Not yet. But weneed to watch for the Spirit’s movement and test out some new paths in the wilderness thatmight bring us closer to the Promised Land. I have no doubt that God is at work among us, and Ibelieve that we will find ways to adapt to this new landscape and continue to be light and salt in a

Youth Camp Updates

We hope that you, our Village family, had a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. We wanted to update you on the status of youth camps and funding for 2019. As you may know, the church has helped pay camp fees in the past. To minimize the impact on the church’s budget and on our youths’ families, we are planning fundraisers to help offset the cost of camp, and are asking for your support. Our first fundraiser will be a talent show in February. More information will follow. We are also open to hearing your ideas for fundraising.

Tentative dates for camps are:

Youth Force June 9-14 Camp Spark June 24-28 at Camp Canyon

Stay tuned for more information on these camps, as well as our fundraising efforts. We’ll send out information via the Tuesday email, post it on the website, or publish it in upcoming Herald newsletters. For questions or more information, feel free to contact us at [email protected] or [email protected]

Ensuring that our youth can attend camp is, and will continue to be, a high priority for Village UMC. Thank you for your support of our youth and their activities. We appreciate it!

~ Youth leaders Brian Walker and Phil Brooks

We would like to introduce you to our Stitch & Sew group which meets on Wednesdays from 1-5 pm in room 105. We would like to thank all members and donors for the donations and help that they have given us in the past. We could not have done it without your generous support.

We do different crafts such as quilting, mending, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, sewing, tatting, and others. We are always open to other suggestions.

Some of the contributions we have made include: quilts (baby and larger), pot-holders, casserole carriers, dish clothes, ASP blankets, kitchen towels, positive bags, wash clothes, preemie hats, coasters, cell phone carriers, baby bibs, lap robes, fleece scarves, beach towels, teddy bears, net scrubbers, embroidery, and many Christmas stockings (over 300 this year alone.

If there is anything you would like to have made, contact one of us and we will gladly consider it.Tish Bishop, Gayla Blakley, Nancy Kendrick, Regina Wolfinger, Nikki Woodford.
