The invasion spread all throughout Europe

The Vikings where the most feared invaders of the north during the 800-900s.

They where Germanic people who lived in what is now the countries of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

They had pagan gods they had many myths for and how it came to be. They had many burials that they included boats and tools. Their government was ruled by kings and nobles, suprisingly

the government was very democratic for its time. Assemblies of landowners made their laws. They might have

been strong farmers but they also where fishers, gatherers, and hunters.

Although the Vikings may sound like a calm civilization, they were actually the worst people to come across because they pillaged and raided other towns and cities, that’s why they were the most feared.

They would travel through Germany, France, and the Baltic area, they would raid and loot these areas.They would bring their captives back to work

on their farms and land.

The Vikings had some of the most skill craftsmanship for building boats and other materials.

The Vikings could capture some of the most fortified villages and because they had a strong military. Their ships carried them across the Atlantic ocean , to what is

now Iceland, Greenland, and North America. The Vikings would even use their boats as the roofs of their

houses; they would tip it upside down and put it on top of their houses

Christianity divided Norway for almost a century.

The battle of Maldon was the English against the Viking invasion.

The English where invaded and where soon defeated and began to have the king buy off the Vikings to stop the armed struggle, so they paid them 10,000 roman pounds in silver to buy them off.

The English soon came back at around 1066 A.D. and fought the Vikings once more and defeated them at the Stamford bridge.

the Vikings also ransacked the monks; the monks where living in Iceland and the Vikings took over in this time.

The monks actually made a poem about the Vikings at the battle of the Stamford bridge.

It has long been held that the dominance of the Carolingian military was based on a "cavalry revolution" led by Charles Martel in 730s. The Carolingian military success rested primarily on novel siege technologies. Large numbers of horses were used by the Frankish military during the age of Charlemagne. This was because horses provided a quick, long-distance method of transporting troops.
